One of the best parts of this year's Oscars ceremony was . . . the very end! As the credits rolled, we got a brief look at many of the new movies coming to a theater near us in the coming months. A good handful of the first-look clips are from movies I'm personally excited to see, including: Hilary Swank in costume for her upcoming biopic Amelia; Robert Downey Jr. and gang in Sherlock Holmes; an adaptation of one of my favorite reads in recent memory, Julie and Julia; one of this year's Sundance favorites, An Education; and even the remake of Fame.
These sneak peeks were mixed in with highly anticipated movies that already have trailers, like Terminator Salvation and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and unfortunately there's music dubbed over the entire thing so we don't actually get to hear anything. Still, it's pretty fun to finally get a look at movies I've been reading and writing about all year.
I grabbed the clip for you to watch again or check out for the first time. Just read more.

i LOVED that they did a little montage preview of the '09 movies. there are a few that i didn't know about and some that i DID know about. i'm sad that Twilight's New Moon hasn't started production cause you know that would have been included if they had any footage to use. oh well. just gives you a sense of things to look forward to this year.
1i'm so ready for the movies of 09! in the next few weeks/months, i think what i'm most excited for is "the soloist" and "sunshine cleaning" and "17 again"
2I had no idea Meryl Streep was playing Julia Childs. That was really cool to see at the end of the show.
3Man, that little montage was one of the best things from last night. I cannot wait for Public Enemies, Terminator and Angels & Demons (but only for Ewan McGregor, not a fan of the whole Dan Brown thing). Oh, and Amelia, and The Soloist.
4Hilary is certainly ugly enough to play amelia realistically.
5Usually, after busting tail to see all of the nominated films before the Oscars, I am totally burnt out on movies at this point. But seeing this montage got me so excited for next year. I want to go out and see everything now!
6Thank you so much for posting this. I was literally jotting down titles on a sheet of paper so I could google them and to see their synopsis'.
7This and the Oscars remind me how much I freaking love movies!
