Hey, Ugly Betty fans! This week's episode featured a good dose of Claire Meade, which I always enjoy since it inevitably leads to a lot of jokes about murder and pill popping. The matriarch copes with her upcoming 60th birthday with a little retail therapy — except she skips the paying part. Another highly inevitable plot twist develops, too, having to do with Ignacio's pretty nurse. Also, Betty is unable to learn how to work a giant, ancient video camera! Ready to chat? Just read more.
- So Betty's back at home (boo) which just exposes us to even more nagging of Ignacio. I know he had a heart attack and that's super scary, but the girls treating him like a child is working my last nerve.
- I knew Elena was going to fall from the sisters' good graces when early on Hilda declares, "She's like the big sister I never had!"
- Meanwhile, Claire Meade is hilariously shoplifting mascara and calls Betty to bail her out. No matter how far astray this show goes from its roots, I will never tire of the Claire-Betty relationship. It's precious.
- I enjoy Claire's fun logic, especially when she explains it to the overly sensible Betty: "It's not shoplifting if you can afford the item but simply do not have the funds on you." Duh!
- Betty decides to put together a Claire tribute video (amazingly titled The Claire Witch Project by Amanda ) and while alcoholism is no laughing matter in the real world, it is on Betty! The old family footage of Claire drunkenly falling into the Christmas tree was pretty funny.
- Betty is pretty ridiculous with that giant camera. How hard could it be? Anyway, once she gets it going, Hilda comes sauntering in wearing the greatest sparkling dress ever because she wants her grandchildren to see how how hot she was. Love Hilda.
- I thought we were going to see footage of Ignacio and Elena making out, but all they gave us (and Betty) is an Ignacio butt grab. For a second, it just looks like he's sexually harassing his nurse, not that they're falling in love.
- Raise your hand if you were annoyed with the way everyone deals with the whole Elena/Ignacio thing. I mean, it's professionally pretty uncouth for a nurse to get it on with her patient, right? I think Hilda had a right to feel betrayed and scandalized by that. But once it's clear the show's going to just scoot away from the professional ethics, the girls just become bratty. Ignacio deserves love!
- It made me laugh when Claire tells Betty to chill out on her dad because he should have someone to love when Betty moves out someday. I thought to myself, "The way this show is going, Betty will never ever leave the freaking nest!"
- In the background, there's this whole Daniel/Willi jealous of Molly/Connor thing going on. Daniel is scared that he and Molly won't last past six months because he's bad at relationships, so he attempts to pack in all the same memories Molly shared with Connor.
- Willi can't deal with being vulnerable and doesn't want to reveal what's underneath her strong outer facade. Marc imagines Willi is "pure, unblemished mocha" under her clothes. Ha!
- My favorite Willi moment is when Connor's beloved parrot won't stop mimicking her with "I love Connor!" so instead of telling Connor how she feels, she tells Marc to throw the bird out the window. Now that's the Willi I know and love!
- Despite Betty's best efforts, no one has very nice things to say about Claire. Amanda's birthday wish to the camera is, of course, the best: "Happy birthday, Miss Meade! You killed my mother!" No matter! There was no surprise party for Claire anyway, just a cute one-on-one dinner with Daniel. Aw.

How are you guys feeling about Willi in love? Are Molly and Daniel made to last? How appropriate/inappropriate is Elena's relationship with Ignacio? If he's in love can Betty move back out and get a life? Discuss!

It wasn't as bad as previous weeks. Willi and Connor are really cute, I'm officially on their ship. Daniel and Molly not so much. Claire is great, I wish she would show up more often.
1I'm not really liking Daniel/Molly too much anymore. Plus I heard a spoiler that she's getting killed off so I can't really get on board.
How long is 'Elena' going to be on Betty? I know she hasn't been killed off Dexter so it is a part time thing or is she just going to do both?
2I cannot move past "Elena" being "LaGuerta." I feel like she's just secretly undercover in Queens
3I felt like this episode got closer to the show that I used to love, thanks in large part to Claire Meade (and Hilda's sparkly dress - loved her ridiculous posing), even though there was still a vaguely after school special-ish feel to it. And you're right about the girls babying Ignacio - it makes me want to scream every time that they're running around doting on him while he hangs out in his chair with an afghan on.
4I miss the scheming evil Wilhemina, but I do like that they give her more dimension. Claire and Betty is a pretty good combo, and somehow I just don't think I'll miss Molly too much when she's written off.
5I'm glad I found this. I thought I was the only one who thought the show had gone down hill! What is up with it? New writers? And why are they being even more ridiculous with her costuming this season than previous seasons?
6I'm not feeling Molly and Daniel. I wonder if molly is going to get back with her ex. When they were all at dinner, I thought hmmmmmmmmmmm that could be an interesting mess for Willi and Daniel. But, I do like seeing Willi in love without her claws. What happened to the baby? Did I miss something? Yes, Betty needs to so LEAVE the NESt . Can she atleast have a cool place if she is going to look a hot mess in wardrobe? I thought her character was far more interesting with Samatha. Ignacio and the nurse. EWWW they just do not go well together. He's not only hitting his nurse but is she not almost Hilda's age? cmon....lol I agree, it was not going to last long with Hilda getting along after she stated that the nurse was like a the Big Sister she never had. lol
I love this show. fun fun... love claire
7IMHO, Betty is sucking wind this season. Sp predictable and dumb.
Papi's love affair was telegraphed as soon as she was hired.
And why did Becky and Mark kiss like that last week, or whenever the heck? It was weird and nasty. I'd rather they'd let Mark actually have a sweet kiss with his dumped boyfriend than see that. They didn't treat his character right at ALL.
8you guys failed to mention the BEST part -
willi to the parrot: I LOVE PRADA
mark to the parrot: I LOVE OSCAR DE LA RENTA FALL 2009
hilda way overreacted to ignacio and the nurse. go figure. too much of the family drama. go figure.
