The long-gestating live-action film version of beloved '80s cartoon series He-Man has found a director in Kung Fu Panda helmer John Stevenson. The He-Man movie — which also now has the title Masters of the Universe — will mark Stevenson's live-action directorial debut, and apparently he came on board for the project when he visited the Mattel headquarters and "was shown into a secret lair that contained the visuals created by the toymaker staff." According to him, "There was this locked bunker that you had to be escorted into. It was filled with art, some generated by the Mattel artists, and I looked around, and said, 'I get it.' We started formulating a specific vision for costumes, creatures, architecture, and the creation of a mythology and look for a whole world we'll create."
So, there's a vision of some sort here. . . right? Kinda? It might not be totally ridiculous and embarrassing? Personally, I think as long as they don't put a blond pageboy wig on Brendan Fraser and call it a day, I'll give this project the benefit of the doubt for now.
Still, I've said it before and I'll say it again: We've gotten Transformers and we're getting G.I. Joe and He-Man. Why is it all so much boy stuff? As long as we're on this ride, where is my Jem and the Holograms movie?

True Religion
Balmain
Dune
There was already a He-Man movie. It starred Dolph Lungren and I loved it. I saw that freaking movie like 6 times in the theaters. Had a Dolph Lungren poster in my room.
But remakes and cartoon character movies are all the rage.
So I say TRY just TRY to beat a beefed up sweaty Dolph Lungren with a Swedish accent running around in the fur loincloth. TRY IT!
1JEM!!!!! Love it!

You sound like a totally crushed movie-goer.
3THANK YOU! Jem has been waiting way too long. Perhaps you can get the ball rolling with a casting competition?
4wack - rofl! I am going to rent the original He-man movie after reading your endorsement.
5hahaha! i used to have He-man and She-Ra dolls....i think itll be cheesey!!
6ps...i want to see a My Little Pony action film...i have all the cartoons @ my moms still!!
7I used to work for Mattel and had to go to the openings of toy stores dressed as freaking Orko from He Man. I have a tiny seed of anger towards all the characters for that.
You spend hours in a costume having tiny little monsters ripping you apart and not be a bit jaded!
8I loved the first He-Man movie too. I would go see the movie in theatres because I am an 80's baby. It will probably be co-producer by Velvettea because it is going to be soo cheesy.
I, personally, am waiting for the Ronin Warriors and Sailor Moon live action movie.
9yes, Symphonee! i LOVED sailor moon. i can think of a couple of actresses i would like to see
10"As long as we're on this ride, where is my Jem and the Holograms movie?"
Amen!
Yes, let's do a casting-call for that, I'm all for it! I've been dreaming about a live-action Jem movie ever since I saw Speedracer. All those colors and the movement, oh it could be so fantastic!!
11The only way I would see this is if She-Ra was a major player
I loved her, she was awesome! I wouldn't mind seeing a JEM movie as well as Sailor Moon! Hehe. Do men dominate the entertainment industry or something?? The guy stuff
is getting a bit old..
12Thundercats!!!
13NO!!! I love-LOVE 80s cartoons (He-Man, She-Ra, Jem, Thundercats) and I hate that they're turning them into movies. How come no one can create anything original these days?
14My husband is eagerly anticipating this movie. He's on he-man.org all the time.
15Flames of June- I would almost piss my pants waiting in line for a Thundercats movie. Iloved that show. My boyfriend and I still watch episodes on the web and laugh at how sucky the animation is compared to cartoons today.
16Thundercats are on the move
Thundercats are loose!
Love Lion-o and Cheetara.
17She is right it called master of the universe
