I haven't seen the musical on stage but I've listened to the cast recording several times, and I'm so excited about seeing this movie -- but I'm also weirded out by John Travolta dressed as a woman!

I saw Travolta on a news show the other day and he said test audiences didn't know it was a man playing his part. How could you NOT tell that is him? I mean, he's Danny Zuko. Everyone knows what he looks like - even with a fat suit.

The play is absloutely amazing...although I must say it'll take a little while for me to warm up to Travolta as Mrs. Turnblad -- his voice is almost too clear.

I want to see this movie. I love the original but I never saw the stage play. Oh, well!

I am a HUGE fan of the John Waters film so, although I heard the musical was amazing on Broadway, I never went up to see it and I'm a bit nervous about this movie. But I must admit, this was really cute. The exterior shot of the store looked a lot like it did in the Waters version, and YAY for Jerry Stiller being in this version, too, although I don't think he's playing Tracy's dad again.
I've gotta say, my admiration increases for anyone who's willing to poke fun of themself and to be ridiculous, and I think it's awesome that Travolta is doing this. I doubt his more infamous Scientology pal would ever dress as a fat woman.
