27 Dresses

Katherine Heigl smiled big in her glittery dress at the premiere of her 27 Dresses in LA, complete with an entourage of pretty girls dressed in — you guessed it — 27 dresses. She had the support of her BFF TR Knight and co-star Ellen Pomepo. The Office star Melora Hardin was there to show off a new beauty look as well. Of course her new husband Josh was there to pose on the red carpet, too, and in true Heigl fashion, she had plenty to say about her honeymoon and married life. Katherine loves to talk about herself, but even she couldn't help but throw in her two cents on Britney Spears, saying,

I can't possibly imagine what that young girl is going through. I just hope...that even with all this attention, people can find it in their hearts to be compassionate and not be so judgmental. She is obviously in a great deal of drama and pain, and that's a horrible thing for someone to go through in front of the entire world — and I'm sorry for her.

Guess we're not the only ones who can't stop talking about Britney. Between Ellen Page and Katherine, it seems like Britney's not going away as a hot topic of conversation among celebs anytime soon.

Who knows why the studios do what they do? It took me a while to forgive the moving of the U.S. release date for Simon Pegg comedy (directed by David Schwimmer) Run, Fat Boy, Run from October 26, 2007 to March 28, 2008. Then the release for Angelina Jolie-James McAvoy action movie Wanted moved to the summer, and the Tom Cruise-Bryan Singer WWII thriller Valkyrie will be released in October instead of June.

The movie doesn't open until January 11, 2008 but we already have a trailer for Katherine Heigl's next romantic "comedy," 27 Dresses. She plays a woman who has been a bridesmaid 27 times and, surprise surprise, never a bride. It appears that her tendency to be kind of a doormat has something to do with her getting stepped on a lot.

Judy Greer (13 Going on 30) yet again plays the shrill friend and James Marsden looks beautiful but seems slightly dull. I wished this would be a better-looking movie, but the trailer makes it look pretty generic. To get a load of Heigl and her 27 Dresses, read more

Katherine is back on the set of 27 Dresses, in which she plays a bridesmaid in, you guessed it, 27 weddings. Judging from these pictures it looks like one of them will be a traditional Indian wedding. We're so used to seeing Katherine with her blonde hair and scrubs, Izzie Stevens style, especially now that she is launching her own line of scrubs so seeing her in a sari seems so out of character.

LL wasn't the only girl to rush out and get the hottest, sleekest little number on the market -- lucky Katherine Heigl showed off her new iPhone on the set of 27 Dresses in Central Park this week. It's a little unnerving to see her as a non-blonde, right? She looks to enjoy talking on her iPhone, but may be a little befuddled with the rest. Katherine has been making headlines these days regarding salary drama on the set of Grey's. We're personally getting a little sick of Izzie but at least we can look forward to seeing her in some different roles soon. In fact, her next big screen movie, this summer's comedy Knocked Up, is already getting good reviews and she's just signed on to star in a romantic comedy called 27 Dresses. Her character is the classic case of always the bridesmaid never the bride, but her real romantic life is much sunnier -- she's engaged to singer Josh Kelley.

Hopefully seeing Katherine in a new role will win us back as a fan. As everyone gears up for wedding season, Katherine Heigl is preparing to sigh "Always a bridesmaid, never a bride," for her next film project, 27 Dresses. The movie will be Anne Fletcher's second directorial venture after Step Up, and the screenplay comes from The Devil Wears Prada writer Aline Brosh McKenna. According to Variety:

Heigl will play a single woman who has served as a bridesmaid 27 times. She is enlisted once again for the job, and this time it's particularly painful: Her sister is marrying the man the bridesmaid is madly in love with.

Huh. Well, so far, the movie sounds like a silly, campy, girly flick, and I'm sure Heigl will do well with it. Apparently, the actress has been courted for more roles ever since she signed on to do Knocked Up with 40-Year-Old Virgin writer/producer Judd Apatow. If the early buzz is any indication, Heigl is likely to have even more offers after Knocked Up comes out. To find out why, read more
