Lately, How I Met Your Mother hasn't exactly been shy about piling on the guest stars. Remember Britney Spears?

Well, for tonight's first episode of the new year, it's happening again, with Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt joining Kim Kardashian for cameos on the show. I was initially wary of the idea, but the way the three of them are being used does make me chuckle: They're the faces on the front of a Them Weekly magazine that Marshall wants to read in the bathroom — but can't, because he's afraid that taking the magazine with him is an instant signal that he wants to do a No. 2.
OK, so maybe I'm more interested in the night's other plotline, which has Ted and Robin attempting to be roommates and discovering that maybe they got along better when they were sleeping together. But hey, I'm generally in favor of anything that gives this show a ratings boost. To check out a couple of clips, just read more.

woo finally! I've been missing my weekly Barnacle fix!
1even though this sounds funny, i am taking it off my dvr tonight and not watching in protest of heidi and spencer. this is my fav show to watch each week but i cannot stand heidi & spencer.
2I LOVE this show.
@ Barnacle fix! You are so right, I love Barney! He is so....wait for
it....awesome!
I actually hated Britney on the show, and the newer cameos make me cringe more. (I didn't think it was possible, but it is).
3The show is GOOD, they don't need that crap, so, stop it!
Yay!! I've been missing HIMYM!
4I love this show!
5I don't care who guest stars on this show - the show is GREAT and I look forward to ever new episode.
And even though I can't stand Heidi and Spencer, they'd never be reason enough for me to not watch the episode! Besides, they'll probably only be in the show for that one scene.
6I can't wait for tonight's episode..but honestly KK's "I've never done a sitcom before and I hope something comes out of this." was kind of sad. I doubt sincerely saying one line on a magazine is going to get her a pilot.
7"I don't care who guest stars on this show - the show is GREAT and I look forward to ever new episode."
Me too! They're most likely going to be in 30 seconds of this episode. Why miss this wonderful show for something stupid like that?!
8Sounds kind of funny, but I hope they don't start with the constant guest appearances a la Will and Grace. That would drive me nuts, since HIMYM is one of my most favorite shows.
9Tonight's episode was fantastic - NPH brought the comedy AND the sad. Amazing.
I barely even noticed the guest stars in the episode, so I can't complain. They manage to work them in pretty seamlessly.
10I've been a fan of HIMYM ever since the beginning, which might be why I don't care who guest stars on the show, I pretty much know it will be awesome. Because I've always followed the Robin/Ted storyline, I'm possibly the only person in the world who wouldn't want Barney and Robin together. I was cringing at the end of the show.
11Okay I caved and watched! I am happy to report that the Heidi & Spencer part was so small it doesn't matter!
This was a great episode so happy I didn't miss out! I was just so disappointed that the HIMYM people were going down this road because it is such a quality show and they are such ridiculous people.
