I'm happy Kate Winslet won in both her categories at this year's Golden Globe Awards — but I wasn't expecting it! I also didn't expect to see Anna Paquin pick up the award for Best Actress in a TV Drama. While I think it's deserved, I was surprised when Danny Boyle was given the award for Best Director, and it made me a little sad to see Jon Hamm and Hugh Laurie lose out to Gabriel Byrne. Finally, I'm a little amazed that The Curious Case of Benjamin Button received no Golden Globes at all!
Thoughts?

I have to Say Colin Farrell winning for In Burge. I adore him as much as I adore Angelina (I have a thing for Geminis it seems) and I was soooo shocked he won. I have always believed in his talent. When I saw him in that war movie with Bruce Willis I knew he was talented. After certain things happened in his private life and some of his movies weren't hits, I feared he had been written off but I am delighted that last night changed all that.
1I agree that Colin Farrell was the biggest surprise for me, second was Mickey Rourke...
2Anna winning was a surprise to me. I don't think that one was deserved.
3I was absolutely thrilled and surprised that Colin Farrell won for In Bruges - that film was brilliant and his performance touched me.
4Gabriel Byrne's win was a surprise to me; so many others were ahead of him IMO.
5I voted Other. Kate Winslet's speech was the biggest surprise of the night to me. I was sending her good vibes there for a minute or two, because I didn't think she was going to make it!
6But she "gathered" and made it through! Go Kate!
And she loves Leo, awwwwwwww.
I think Anna Paquin and Mickey Rourke's wins were both pretty surprising. I really wanted Rourke to win and think he definitely deserved it, but I am still surprised.
7Kate Winslet winning twice, but nobody deserves it more than her this year. Also Colin Farrell's win. I was going to predict that Gabriel Byrne would win, but I changed it at the last minute
He also deserves it, because he works so hard on that show which was on every day during its
first season.
Finally, on a frivolous note, Anna Paquin is a blonde! I don't know if her hair is that color for the show, but she actually looks good with it!
8I think Anna and Colin were the two that really surprised me. Was glad to see Colin win (he was good in In Bruges) but I don't think Anna was the right choice in her category...
I didn't think Benjamin Button would win anything...I have a feeling it won't win any major awards at the Oscars either but I think it WILL do well in all the minor categories (makeup, cinematography, editing, etc.)
9Immediately before her win, I said "it would be nice if Anna Paquin won for True Blood, but it won't happen." And she won. I was very surprised but she deserved it. Actually the guy who plays LaFayette deserved an award more but he wasn't nominated. I'm glad someone won for that little show about vampires and shape shifters.
10I was so pleasantly surprised to see Kate win twice! I think she and the rest of the world have just adjusted to her being a nominee and never a winner, but she deserved it.
11LOVE Kate Winslet. I was so happy for her.
I'd like 30 Rock to stop winning though. The other nominees seemed so deserving. At least Tina Fey gave a hilarious speech...
12Kate winning in both categories. It was a good surprise.
13i'm not at all surprised that Kate won two awards - i'm surprised that anna paquin won...it's one of those shows that you hear about but you don't hear a LOT about.
14I gotta agree with Juicy... I'm really glad that she won both (let's face it, she's adorable and a great actress)- But I didn't expect her to win BOTH. I'm sure they were both deserved, but you don't often see one person with best supporting and best actress in one night.
I'm sad that those movies aren't coming to my town :[
15I have to say Leonardo Dicaprio NOT winning!
I was for sure he would!!
16Anna Paquin - shouldn't have been nominated, let alone won. True Blood is at best a guilty pleasure show!! Not surprised about Benjamin Button - it wasn't as great as it should have been and Brad looking young and hot again shouldn't count as acting.
17Benjamin Button was up for so many awards I have to say it surprised me that it didn't win
18anna paquin win is random to me....
19my angel Angelina didn't win makes me sick
20For me it was Colin Farrell’s win for In Bruges. It was a great moment. So well deserved and such a lovely little ‘WTF an I doing?’ speech. Love him more than should be considered normal.
21i knew boyle was going to win for best director and would have been damn pissed if he didn't. that was highly deserved for him.
biggest surprise was anna for true blood - i love that show, but not right for that category. also, surprised about colin farrell. sorry kids, i wanted robert downey jr. for that one. i mean, COME ON!
haven't seen either movie kate's in, so i can't comment on that, but it doesn't surprise me. thought angelina should've won for changeling though - about time to see her finally ACT.
22I was surprised that Kate won two major acting awards in one night (well deserved), that Benjamin Button didn't get ANY awards, and that Colin Farrell won for In Bruges (also deserved the award).
