- Take that, NBC? Scrubs [1] did pretty well for itself on Tuesday, jumping from NBC to ABC and posting 6.8 million viewers for its first episode, 6.6 million for its second.
- Damage. Damages [2] seems destined to join the ranks of the critically beloved but little watched shows, getting just 1.8 million viewers on Wednesday — down 44 percent from its first season premiere in 2007.
- What secret? The Secret Life of the American Teenager [3] continues to break records for ABC Family, drawing the channel's biggest audience ever (4.4 million viewers) for its season premiere on Monday.
- Not quite ghastly, but . . . Is Denny's ghost hurting Grey's Anatomy [4]? Thursday's episode drew just 13.7 million viewers, which is unusually low for Grey's. Then again, it was airing during college football's championship game.
- On the other hand . . . Moving to the post-Grey's slot gave a boost to Private Practice [5], which drew 9 million viewers.
- Fall's bona fide hit. In a lackluster season for new shows, The Mentalist [6] keeps rolling, pulling in a series high 19.6 million viewers.
