Slumdog Millionaire and Vicky Cristina Barcelona won the major movie awards, Kate Winslet won both of her categories, and 30 Rock took home three trophies Sunday night at the 2009 Golden Globe Awards.
Slumdog swept the categories in which it was nominated, nabbing a total of four awards including trophies for its director, score, and song. Winslet won both Best Supporting Actress and Best Dramatic Actress categories — her first two wins out of seven lifetime nominations — and 30 Rock took home awards for stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin in addition to the series as a whole.
Other major winners were Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler, AMC's Mad Men, and HBO's John Adams. To see the full list of winners, just read more.

Yay 30 Rock! Three awards, pretty awesome. Overall, I only guessed two right - best animated film and best supporting actor - but I think those two were KINDA obvious. hah.
1I was thinking Mad Men was gonna win a bunch of awards haha. But I guessed 12 right, which is okay I guess.
2Anna Paquin is beyond laughable in true blood. It is bad when brits have better southern accents than you.
3Yeah for Kate Winslet, she deserve it! She is one of the few young, talented, beautiful and classy actresses left today
4I'm thrilled to see Kate walk away with not one but TWO awards. Her work has been outstanding over the years, and despite her incredible talent and celebrity, she remains down-to-earth and relatable (far as I know, there are no awards for that, but there should be
). Here's
hoping this paves the way to her first Oscar!
5I didn't see the double-win for Kate, but I am so happy for her. I didn't predict she would win in either category--stupid me--but I am so glad she did. And yay for Mickey Rourke!
6I think this was by far one of the best award shows that I've ever seen. I think I agreed with every single winner. But I was especially excited to see Slumdog Millionaire, Colin Farrell, Kate Winslet and Bruce Springsteen get wins.
And Great Sommelier--Anna Paquin isn't British. She was born in Canada and then raised in New Zealand. I think she's lived in the US for at least ten years now.
7Great Sommelier wasn't asying Anna is British, she was saying her british co-stars on True Blood do better southern accents then her. Which is true haha. I love true blood but she's actually probably my least favorite part of it.
8Anyway, I'm SUPER stoked colin won for in bruges. Such an awesome movie. and yay for 30 rock and Kate!
So happy that Kate Winslet is a double award winner, that Slumdog Millionaire swept its categories and that Mad Men and John Adams took top honors as well. While I'm disappointed that Jon Hamm and Sean Penn didn't win, overall, I think the winners are well deserving.
9Renee,thanks, that is exactly what I was saying. I was a big fan of the books and really think she was a horrible casting choice.
10I'm probably the odd girl out but, Yay! TRUE BLOOD. I love that show. Go Anna! I'm so happy Mickey Rourke won for The Wrestler, that movie was surprisingly good.
11Well, anything that gives good visibility to True Blood is good in my book.
12Congrats to all the winners! My favourites here have to be Kate and everyone from 30 Rock! I'm kinda dissapointed thatt Robert Downey Jr didn't win- but hey, at least he was nominated!
