Last Friday, TLC premiered a new reality series called Miss America: Countdown to the Crown that follows 52 pageant queens vying for this year's Miss America crown (they did something similar last year).
Each week audiences can tune in to watch the ladies live together on an ocean cruise liner and go through various challenges that are apparently meant to prepare them for the big competition on Jan. 24.
These days, beauty pageants battle to remain relevant now that judging a woman's swimsuit bod and "peace on earth" answers seems a bit . . . retro.
Do you think a reality show will make you care more about the pageant?

1to me this isn't a straight forward yes or no question. i've definitely lost interest in the pageant, but i have to admit that watching the show on TLC has made me a bit MORE interested in the whole thing even if i don't pay attention to the pageant on tv. what i loved about the first season of the show that they did was when they did the makeovers for the girls and some just flipped out. it's like you work so hard to get your crown from your state with one look and the POOF they change it all up!
2A bunch of gorgeous young ladies, who all seem eerily thin, and overly made-up. Sounds like me after a drinking binge!
3I watched the last series just because Michael Urie was hosting, but even he couldn't save it for me; I lost interest about halfway through. It all comes down to just another reality show. Ho-hum.

10I probably wouldn't watch it but Miss Indiana went to my college and she's kicking ass so I'm watching it for her so far. And having the reality series is kinda cool for that reason. But if there wasn't an aquaintance on it then I just wouldn't care.
