Last Chance Harvey is a wonderfully cute movie for a variety of reasons (more on that later) and during a particularly fun scene, Harvey (Dustin Hoffman) and Kate (Emma Thompson) stop to enjoy a band playing on the street in London. The young lead singer's throaty, impassioned vocals and the toe-tapping bluesy/country sounds of the band stuck with me and I just had to look them up. Turns out it's British family band Kitty, Daisy & Lewis. Kitty, Daisy and Lewis are three siblings whose spunky covers of songs like "Mean Son of a Gun" (which is the song featured in the movie) and "Going Up the Country" take me back to bygone eras in American music. It's old-fashioned, inspired by swing, jazz, and country, but with a distinctly young sound — perhaps partly because vocalist Kitty is just 15 years old.

I saw a preview of this film and thought it looked kind of blah...it's good??
1emalove — I really liked it. I mean, it's a romantic dramedy and may be too slow for some people, but I really enjoyed it. I think the story is sweet and the acting is wonderful.
2I think I may actually go see this. Romances with characters over 40 are rare these days.
3I've really wanted to see this movie since I first saw a preview for it! I love romantic movies that aren't dripping with cheese or down right insulting (like Bride Wars looks).
4I don't know if it's noted anywhere, but on the CBS Sunday Morning show they revealed that the tune Dustin plays to Emma on the piano is his own composition. Impressive!
5This movie was the sweetest thing. First it allows you to endear yourself to the two characters with real emotion, there is no sex, not one cuss word and it plays out in true dramatic form. It is something I applaud Emma and Dustin for. The fact that Dustin Hoffman really played his own piano composition makes me wonder why Hollywood never used him to play the piano more often. It was brillant and I loved it to pieces. Slow is not always bad and that little band Kitty, Daisy & Lewis are fresh and I just enjoyed them to pieces. This is one of the first movies that I thought Hollywood actually got right in a long time, real stories, real people, well done~bravo!
6Ok, I guess there was one or two cuss words but they are mild. If forgot that "sh___" was used about three times.
7Sorry about that folks.
Oh my gosh! I'm mates with Kitty (vocalist in the film) and I just wanna say...I LOVE YOU DEAR!! xxxxxxx
