I do not think he will make a good werewolf Jacob. He always smiles and it drove me crazy in the first one. His voice also just doesn't fit the part and was another thing that bothered me and I hated when he was talking onscreen. Obviously everybody is questioning the obvious that he is too small and although he may be able to put on muscle he can't grow 2 feet for a role.

The emotional connection the audience has to each character is obviously palpable. I understand why they did it, but hope they do not fail miserably in the physical connection that must be made to maintain the integrity of the storyline. I am almost done with Eclipse, and as Jacob is the second in command alpha male described in extraordinary physical realms, I wonder if they are putting pressure on Taylor to bulk up tremendously?? Hollywood is notorious for having that effect on its subjects. I hope this does not adversely effect Taylor in any way. And perhaps, if this is not the case, the world of cinematography can create the nearly 7 foot boy with Jacob's very detailed physique. lets see what Hollywood's bag of tricks reveals. Until next year . . .

yes, not only am i happy that he was able to convince everyone that he CAN do it - if you read the book, in keeping with the integrity of the character, he starts out smaller and then gets bigger as he transitions into what he becomes - so i think that it's a good thing that they are trusting that he'll do a good job. i hope so!

I'm glad he will play the role again. Make-up and scruff can age him. Hollywood can make anyone seem tall onscreen (ask Tom Cruise! hehe) and apparently he is putting on muscle so I look forward to the next movie.

Looking forward to seeing his "transformation" in the second movie!

I really was Praying Michael Copon got it. He's HOT! This kid had like two lines in Twilight. I didn't care for the movie. the Acting was atrocious. But if Michael was is in it... I'd have watched it for that alone! UGH! Friggin disappointment.

I like him and i saw the movie before I started reading all the books so as i was reading all of them it is him that I imagined as I read...but on that note New Moon was my least fav. book so who knows about the movie!

He's got that sweet Jacob look to him. I think he'll do fine. Although I have no high hopes for the sequel, I'll be going to watch it. If it's half as good as the book, it will be well worth my $8

I'm glad they kept Taylor because I hate recasts. Also, Michael Copon's lack of discretion on whether he was offered the part or not was off-putting. His announcement on Facebook put me on Team Taylor.

Yeah, I hate recasts too, so on that front I think it's a good move. But physically, I'm not sure he's the right person for the role. Even if he bulks up as everyone is saying he's doing, I don't think that's enough to make "Jacob's" transition to super alpha male/werewolf believable. He's still a teenager who is growing. Maybe in a few years he'd fill out enough for the role, but right now, I'm skeptical but wish him the best because I want the movie to be great.

The height isn't an issue. Robbie Coltrane isn't nearly as tall as Hagrid is supposed to be but does he look it on camera? Yes.

He's adorable! We really embodies Jacob, imo, and pulled off Jacob really well. I'm excited to see how he does in New Moon.

To be honest the plain and simple truth is this: Taylor MIGHT have been good in Twilight because Jacob was a kid, Taylor is a kid! But in New Moon Jacob is a Man! A Wolf nonetheless and Taylor is STILL a kid!! He's tiny and he smiles too much.. he's always happy! Its unnatural! He's younger than my brother =| I DON'T Think he can bulk up and become BIG enough to really pull Jacob off correctly. And Tbh Actor or No I dont beleive he has the emotional maturity to play the more complex role! Hes SIXTEEN ffs!

I have mixed feelings on this. I am glad they are not replacing him but he obviously is not physically perfect for the progression his character will go through. I just hope they can use their "Hollywood Magick" to make it work.

I would have rather they picked the other guy. I'm a huge fan of these books and I just didn't see Taylor as a big, tough, ripped, werewolf. I know the fans protested so much and that's probably why they kept him, but the other guy looked older and didn't have such a baby face. Book 2 was my least favorite. I'm interested to see what happens. With a new director, rushed deadline, not casting properly, and them changing the plot to add more of Rob just to get more money isn't going to work out the best. Instead of making a great movie to match a great book they are just out to get money.

nope. sorry he isn't jacob to me. he does not look a bit native american to me and that part when telling bella about a "sca-ry st-o-ry" totally made me cringe. he needs to work on diction and they still should use someone else for the role. i think the next film is going to be a flop because they won't be pulling off the werewolf version very well. and anyway, i am probably not going to give the film a chance anyway.

I know Taylor can live up to his fans expectations.
Its not easy to protray himself as a werewolf including all those emotional scenes when he realised he is a werewolf.

I guess, no one can 'love' Bella better than Taylor Lautner did in Twilight. Its not all about physicality, what we have to see if Taylor can really make Edward pissed off in New Moon by trying to 'snatch' her away from Edward. I want to see that kind of angst!
Because those are the details in the book 'New Moon' which sums up the whole complexities between Edward and Bella! Plus other complications and so forth...
Only Taylor Lautner can do that (hahahah)

It makes sense to have someone bigger, but if taylor can do it we need to give it a chance....and everyone needs to remember this book and this movie will not be exact bc all movies are BASED off books! i think there a different things but thats good, it adds character to the people that take the time and read the book to really understand the characters.

Jacob has a big role from now on, and we need to remember he WONT be smiling once he is werewolf until bella knows and then he wont smile bc she hangs out with bloodsuckers....so jacob character is A LOT MORE indepth then the preview that we got in twilight...

all in all i trust stephanie meyers and her goal to keep her books and movies similiar!

I don't think he is the best choice to play Jacob, but since he was already in the first film, it would be weird if they replaced him for the second -- especially if they kept all of the other actors the same.

He was weird in Twilight, but I do see him as Jacob... I am glad that they kept him cuz I hate it when the change the character in in the middle of movies, it bugs the crap out of me. So, ummm... ya that is my opinion.

i was really looking forward to new moon coz i thought they were gonna replace him, now i'm not so hot about it anymore. i meant taylor was fine for the first one (ok, fine might be a slight exaggeration) but honestly, i don't think he can handle the jacob in new moon. that character is almost the complete opposite of the previous one, it's going to require some serious acting chops on the part of the actor and i just don't think taylor has it.

I think it would have been appropriate to replace him. He had a very small part in the first one, and in NEW MOON he is supposed to be about 6'5" and very big and bulky. He's supposed to basically look like a whole new guy anyway. Taylor is cute, but like a child. He is not the 25-year-old man that New Moon describes him to be.
