You've voted on the different categories of movies as we looked back at the best of 2008, but I'm curious to know whether you think the year in cinema was a good one overall.
Sure, some movies made a lot of money off of us this year (ahem, The Dark Knight), but when you look back on '08 in its entirety, do you think it delivered really great films?

i think that overall it was a pretty good movie year. my man and i go to the movies just about every weekend and i can only think of a few that we didn't feel that we needed to go to see or were a waste of money.
1best of the year : wall-e (#1 by far), dark knight, step brothers, burn after reading, horton hears a who, iron man and tropic thunder
2Iron Man, Indiana Jones, Dar Knight... made Christmas shopping for my husband easy! I don't understand the craze about Tropic Thunder, I watched it on dvd and thought it was crass, if not disgusting.
3A very good year! 2007 was poor
4Milk, Wall-E, Dark Knight, and Iron Man--I'd say it was a good year for movies!
5Eh, it was so-so for me...I loved Twilight and the Dark Knight. Sex and the City was cute. Other than that, I can't think of anything that I really went out of the way to see.
I absolutely hated Tropic Thunder too, Krae85.
6I think the only movies I went to see in theater this year were Wall-E and Sex and the City. I adored Wall-E... too cute. And SATC was a perfect ending to it all for me. I meant to go see The Dark Knight, but never was able too. *sigh* Guess I'll catch that on DVD.
7I think the only flicks I actually saw were Iron Man, Tropic Thunder, and Zack and Miri Make a Porno, all of which I loved. Couldn't have cared less about the other stuff. I give the year a 4 out of 10.
8Definitely ! I saw 20 movies this year haha, it was the first year I actually started going to the movies more, now that I've discovered matinees.
9Milk made up for all of the okay movies that I saw earlier in the year. Mamma Mia was okay, SATC was cute, but Milk was phenomenal.

13i'd say 2008 was a good year for movies, do box office numbers for the dark knight and iron man opening weekends not reflect that?! a good mix of blockbusters, indie flicks, comedies, etc.
still catching up on a few movies prior to the oscars, but will say '08 was good for movies.
14Some movies were very good...but I felt many movies this year were just "meh." They had a lot of potential, but were a bit disappointing because they were EXTREMELY overhyped (like Sex and the City, Indiana Jones, and even The Dark Knight - it just wasn't as good as I heard it was). Don't get me wrong, they were decent films and I enjoyed watching them but I wasn't blown away.
But there were a lot of good films too - Iron Man, Wall-E, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Prince Caspian (guilty pleasure), Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
15Oh yeah, Zack and Miri Make a Porno was great too!
16And so was Tropic Thunder.
