In theory, I think the premise for I Love You, Man is funny and cute: A guy (Paul Rudd) gets engaged to his lady (Rashida Jones — yay for her having more movie roles!) but he doesn't have a best guy friend so he basically goes on a manfriend-hunt to lock down a best man for the wedding.
The trailer features some funny folks (Jason Segel, Andy Samberg, Thomas Lennon) and people I just love seeing pretty much anytime (JK Simmons), and yet, it doesn't really make me laugh. Also (and I'm assuming this is explained in the movie), why doesn't he just ask his brother (Samberg) to be his best man, instead of asking his brother for tips on going on man dates to find some guy he barely knows to be his best man? Time will tell, I suppose. I do appreciate the use of the Pixies' "Here Comes Your Man" in the trailer, anyway.
I Love You, Man opens March 20. To check out the trailer, read more.

Yay! It's about time Paul Rudd got his own movie
I'll see anything he's in and
anything Jason's in
1Paul Rudd! JK Simmons! OMG!
2This looks like my ideal film.
3That looks pretty funny! Kinda dumb, but in a good way.
4OMG whiplash i'm with you!
paul rudd, jk simmons, AND jason segel!?!?!
YES PLEASE!
IS IT MARCH YET?
5NO?
CRAP!
LOVE this cast!
6Echo everyone's opinions.
A. About time Rudd got to lead in a Apatow movie.
7B. All of these Apatow movies look awful in the trailer but end up being pretty funny when you watch them, which I loooooove cause almost always trailers show you too much.
C. I'm a recently converted Jason Segel fan (Marshall!) so I can't wait to see him in another movie.
I love Paul, man. I gotta say, the Andy/JK hand grenade and the Tom Lennon kissing bits CRACKED ME UP! I'm so in!
8This looks hilarious! Even though this flick has little to do with Judd Apatow, he (and Nick Hornby and Cameron Crowe) has been instrumental in developing the guy-friendly or unisex rom-com.
I stutter to think what may happen if Judd Apatow were ever to direct a movie written and adapted by Nick Hornby!
9That looks really funny and I agree with everyone else I'm glad Paul Rudd is starting to get more lead roles.
10I'm so loving this cast...Rashida, Paul, Jason, Andy...seems like a perfect recipe for comedy!
11PAUL RUDD! YAY!
12ANDY- so awesome! And that dog is identical to mine!
13I definitely want to see this.
14it's interesting about this movie. i do online surveys and a while back they did one on this film and i thought that at the time although i love the cast and the concept - they took some of the humor too far in a crude sort of way. i don't know if i'll go see it or not, but i have plenty of time to figure that one out
15OK, the Devil wears Prada part made me laugh out loud. So funny!
16omg!! looks so funny, i cant wait! : )
17So, are bromances the new chick flicks?? Awesome!
18I saw an early screening of this film last night--it is hilarious. Definitely, definitely go see this when it comes out! Paul Rudd was fantastic, and the rest of the cast, too! But especially Jaime Pressly and Jon Favreau...and Andy Samberg and JK Simmons....It's too funny.
19The trailer doesn't do it justice!
20i love jason segal !!! as much as i love him on how i met your mother, i'm really glad he's been doing so well outside the show.
21I watch anything with Paul Rudd! And this looks hilarious!
