There's a new host in Oscar town, and this year, he just happens to be the sexiest man alive. Hugh Jackman has been picked as the host for this year's Oscars, which will be trying to pick things back up after last year's record-low ratings.
Rumors started flying this week that the Oscars had picked someone "way outside the box" for this year's host, not a comedian like Jon Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres, or Steve Martin. The Oscars will apparently be a bit different with Jackman as host, most notably that he's unlikely to do a monologue.
It won't be Jackman's first hosting gig: He also hosted the Tonys from 2003-2005 — and the 2004 broadcast actually won him an Emmy.
The Oscars producer told People that Jackman "can hold the screen and he can hold a stage" and "it doesn't hurt that he looks amazing in a tuxedo." Pretty hard to argue with that. Do you think this is a good move?

As a big time theater geek who watches the Tony's every year, Hugh has always done an amazing job! He was always funny, gorgeous, and usually was involved in some kind of performance. I doubt we will see that on the Oscars, but he is a great pick! I couldn't be more excited!
1Totally sexy host pick, but the reason I don't usually watch the Oscars is because of the huge glut of boring awards in between the interesting ones, not because of the who happens to be hosting. I'd rather just TIVO it and skip through to the good stuff the next day, or just read who won online.

He did an amazing job hosting the Tony Awards...his Emmy was well-deserved. His opening song and dance numbers were always amazing (all of them are on YouTube and I watch them more often then I should). Yay HUGH!

I'm so glad he is finally getting more attention, he has been a great actor since forever but doesn't get the hype for some reason (probably b/c he isn't sleeping around with all of Hollywood).

Wow this was random. I think it could be good...but I have a feeling there will be much more song-and-dance numbers than comedy. I prefer the Oscar hosts to be comedians, but I'm not totally disappointed. He could still impress me.
