Well, it's certainly been a crazy couple of days for Grey's Anatomy gossip. Just today, there's news about what might be behind the Izzie/Denny story, plus news about a wild new plot coming up later this season. And a couple of days ago, rumors and "blind items" started flying about a character possibly leaving the Grey's universe. Looking back, doesn't my most ridiculous Grey's Anatomy moment poll from '07 seem awfully tame? If only we'd known what was coming up. Anyway, to start talking about the news and rumors (it should be obvious, but there be spoilers ahead!), read more.
Story 1: What's ailing Izzie?
Over at Entertainment Weekly, Michael Ausiello has gotten multiple sources telling him what's making Izzie see Denny: not a brain tumor, but something else illness and brain related. "And although the specific name of the ailment is being kept in the safe underneath [Shonda] Rhimes's desk, I'm told it's similar to an aneurysm," he writes. "And every time it flares up, she sees Denny. And sometimes when it really flares up, she shags him." But it's not meant to be fatal, according to his sources — just meaty and maybe Emmy worthy.
Story 2: Is someone leaving?
Many of you have noted the odd absence of George O'Malley for much of this season — it's kind of hard not to notice — and so it caught my eye when E!'s Watch With Kristin posted this blind item earlier this week saying a certain character (she wouldn't say if it was male or female) hadn't been on screen much because "[he or she] has been a pain in the ass lately, trying to change scenes and dialogue, being hard to work with and putting up an attitude." Coupled with this near-simultaneous Ausiello blind item, it seemed TR Knight could be the answer. However, Kristin later noted that most commenters were guessing wrong, and most are guessing George. So, who else fits that description? Less screen time, potential for being obnoxious behind the scenes . . . ?
Story 3: A serial killer at Seattle Grace?
Back to EW for a second: Eric Stoz hltas been cast as a serial killer who needs medical attention, and he's on board for three episodes starting next year. Now, it's possible that he's just your average Grey's patient . . . but the way things are going, I wouldn't be shocked to see him take out a few Seattle Grace doctors while he's around.
For those of you who think this all sounds ridiculous, you might get a kick out of this challenge to "out-awful" the Grey's writers. And now, seriously: How do you feel about the Izzie story knowing some sort of medical problem is driving it? Who do you think is in the doghouse? And is it wrong that I'm more excited to watch the show now than I've been in years?

ahahaha I love this show because it's so ridiculious!!!
[p.s. Buzz so off topic but I just got the John Williams 40 years of film music CD and it'd be a great gift for a movie buff!]
1I was HOPING it would be a medical ailment with Izzie or else the show has 100% completely lost it's credibility. If that's the case then I'll consider it teetering for now.
2This show has turned into such a train wreck!!!
3"And every time it flares up, she sees Denny. And sometimes when it really flares up, she shags him." LOL, this storyline is so darn ridiculous I yell at my TV every time.
4not wrong, i love when bad stuff happens, that's what makes it interesting. and all this tv drama has driven us into this oblivious state that we need drama in real life, like if someone real is killed in entertaiment industry it's just fun to watch.
5The serial killer opens up a lot of possibilities for clearing the halls of Seattle Grace rather quickly. Hopefully, George is a survivor. I really do hate the Izzie/Denny interactions; knowing that she has little control over these lapses helps a bit, but seriously this needs to end soon. Thanks for the updates, Buzz!
6(extreme izzy bashing ahead)
i suspected something in izzy's brain was causing denny to appear. sadly, i think this means she'll end up with more screen time and tear-jerky scenes, even if she does die at the end. if only they'd give her the same "send off" as burke and erica. i just want her gone. i skipped over everything with her and denny last week (and the ridiculous die/lexie stuff), and it made the show so much easier to watch. god bless the dvr!
if it's not george, it's hard to say who else it might be. seems like they've got so much going on that most of the "main" characters are starting to get the same amount of time as the secondary folks. i hope it's not christina though. her story line with kevin mckidd is probably the only thing keeping me watching. i had almost given up when he reappeared, but the two of them aren't around much. thankfully they make the most of what they're given.
7Greys has been my favorite from the begining. But this season is just all wrong. I really hope they can turn it around.
8I saw both of those blind items earlier this week and really thought it was George too. But if you really read them, the descriptions just do not seem like TR. They make the person sound hated and like a complete diva. I'm glad George is safe and hope they give him some storylines soon! Hopefully not involving an awkward, doomed from the beginning romance...
9Although, now I'm worried about McDreamy b/c he has been severely MIA this season too and I could see him being a diva.
10Allyace — I think he's my second guess, mostly because he was clearly not interested in playing the ABC party line when he was on Ellen after the Brooke Smith stuff happened. He really hasn't been around all that much, either, at least not like when he was doing the clinical trial.
11I think the denny/izzie story line is stupid but I love Jeffrey Dean Morgan so I put up with it
12lol me too psterling!
I think it might be Alex or McDreamy. I can't see either one being a diva though and I can't see T.R. being one either!
13Having just watched tonight's episode...
***Spoilers ahead***
I think the "too morbid" bit from the blind item might mean Alex, because he gave that whole "I love you and I'm not going to die" speech to Izzie. Because, c'mon, that would be REALLY morbid.
14Tlsgirl you make a good point. And that would be really sad!
15Grey's Anatomy is so crazy this season! It's a bit too much...I love Jeffery Dean Morgan, but I don't like seeing Denny because we know he's dead and nothing "real" can happen between him and Izzie.
When I first read Watch with Kristen's blind item, I also thought it was TR but it doesn't seem like he would be a diva. I'm guessing it's Patrick Dempsey because he seems like a pr*ck in real life.
16They're soooooooooo gonna kill McDreamy ! Come on, he only has like 3 seconds of screen-time every episode, he doesn't do much except watching his girlfriend having a relationship with her mother's diary and well, I could see him being a diva on the set.
17definitely mcdreamy. i don't mind- his hair bothers me
18If it's a medical ailment making Izzy see Denny then it's mildly better... however I wish they'd just get the discovery over with and quit dragging it out.
Seeing/shagging ghosts? I thought soap operas were only on in the daytime!
That being said, I still love me some Grey's and will keep watching.
19At least Denny is hot, that makes it a tad more bearable.
I hope it's not TR! McDreamy would make sense...
I have to say I was kind of disappointed that Lexi's crush on George wasn't addressed at all last night! Didn't he only find out about it in the last episode? And they are roommates!
20Okay... I'm so tired of the Izzie/Denny/Alex story line. The Izzie/Denny thing is just way too effed up for me. And Izzie either needs to get with Alex or get out of the way. Personally, I'm still rooting for Katherine Heigl to get the axe.
Lexi/Sloane just isn't doing it for me either. Did she run to McSteamy since George shot her down or are they really going to try and develop a relationship between them?
Okay, they got rid of Brooke Smith because of the lesbian relationship, right? (That was my understanding anyway.) Now they have Callie and the new intern (I can't remember her name) being all flirty. Granted, I didn't like the Callie/Erica relationship, but I did like Brooke's character. *sigh*
And Hunt/Cristina - yay!!!!
21I could see it being TR, aren't he and Heigl best friends? And from what I hear, SHE is a major b*tch.
just saying, bc I LOVE McDreamy and can't imagine him doing that sorta diva stuff.
22I don't remember Callie being on the show last night either? I like Callie with Sloan, and Sloan not with Lil Grey. This show has way too many characters to keep up with. When are Meredith and McDreamy going to get married, aren't they engaged? Denny needs to leave (although I do love JDM, mmm mmm mmm
)
23I'm just so disappointed with the writers. Katherine won an Emmy without over-the-top storylines so I don't know why they need to resort to sex-with-Denny-who-isn't-there storylines to give her something "Emmy worthy". And a BIG waste of amazing actors Tzi Ma and Rosalind Chao last night.
24I would guess it would be katherine Heigl, but she's been pretty prominent this season, not so much in the hospital, but with the whole Denny ridiculousness....so I'm not sure?!
25I can absolutely not stand to watch the show during the Izzy moments. I fastforward through them to get to the rest of the action. It is not a good plot line, even if there is a medical condition behind it. If it continues much longer, I will drop the show.
26I took Grey's off of my series recording on the DVR last night. I'm done with this show.
27I wonder if it's Izzy? She was kind of a diva while promoting knocked up and shes not getting as much screen time as she used to... even though they said she's not getting killed off by this medical thing... maybe eventually she will be killed off? ha maybe it's just wishful thinking, she is getting pretty annoying these past two seasons!
28I agree with now knowing that Izzie seeing Denny is a medical thing makes the situation a little better, it still sorta creeps me out...as much as I enjoy Jeffrey Dean Morgan's shirtless body.
McDreamy definitely hasn't had much screen time the last few episodes, but I really hope it's not him. I still like him.
I'll always love this show, no matter how ridiculous.
29well it's a given that izzie was going to be the crazy one - so we knew that. i think that anything that brings denny back to the show is ok by me. i like him a lot more than others.
