"How does it feel to be a symbol?"
Che: "A symbol of what?"
Director Steven Soderbergh's lengthy biopic of Argentine revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara, collectively known as Che, will reportedly release in two parts: The Argentine will open in limited release on Dec. 12, with the second part, Guerrilla, following in January. The reception of the unfinished four-hour production that screened at Cannes was somewhat mixed (Variety's Todd McCarthy claims that Soderbergh has "withheld any suggestion of why the charismatic doctor, fighter, diplomat, diarist and intellectual theorist became and remains such a legendary figure; if anything, Che seems diminished by the way he’s portrayed here"). However, praise for Benicio Del Toro's frank, unflinching portrayal of Che is plentiful — even in the less-than-positive reviews.
Now there's a full-length US trailer, which uses dialogue sparsely, mostly allowing the powerful visuals to speak for themselves. It looks brutal, but it's also something I will simply have to see. To watch the trailer, read more.

why does Hollywood continue to glorify this man?
1Benicio del Toro is fabulous in everything. It's never a question of him being good, it's whether the movie is good or not.
2He seems to be perfectly cast as Che; looking forward to seeing how well the films do at the box office.
3i have to say that if they have to release it in 2 parts - then perhaps there's just too much material there...don't you think? i love him, but i can't say that i'm overly excited about the content.
4Anyone know if it's mostly in Spanish with subtitles? I kind of hope it is. I can't stand it when Hollywood makes a biopic about a foreign figure in English. Not because it's all in English but because they often have the most horrible accents!! I really hope they stuck with authenticity this time.
5I'm not sure why, but I'm really looking forward to this.
6looks great
anything about che is something to look forward to
7I am extremely excited for this movie
8I don't know if Hollywood is glorifying Che Guevera in this particular film... Perhaps you are thinking of the Motorcycle Diaries. It seems as though this film is a very detailed account of a very influential person in our lifetime. I for one am very excited for this film because I love Benicio Del Toro and Steven Soderberg...
Random thought: I think it'd be cool to see Forest Whitaker and Benicio Del Toro in a film together.
Cheers,

is it weird that i'm in love with benicio del toro? he looks great in the trailer. gosh. i hope this man never ages.
10I wonder how the family members of all the innocent men and young men killed by this degenerate, murderer, known as "Che" , feel about this lie, waste of film?
Has anyone asked them their opinions? I doubt it. The truth about this pig is very different than that shown on this film. If anyone is interested in finding out the truth about this mass murderer, then direct your search to web sites like: http://hfontova.com/
The facts are irreputable. This man openly admitted at the U.N. that Castro's regime was executing and would continue to execute as long as needed. Executions of innocent men and young men whose only crime was that of having a different point of view and opinion in Cuba.
Wake up America!!! Che Guevara wanted to eliminate all of the U.S.A. via a nuclear attack starting in NYC.
Stop this nonsense already with this murderer and move on...
11I look forward to seeing this movie. Benecio is a great actor.
12I will like to see 'mariana48' living in Che's regime.
13Maybe a f*cking wh*re or a 'miserable rasca panza de mierda'. I love to see people who do not know sh*t about anything giving their stupid opinion.
Everytime I see a young person (those who are always asking for their freedom to be respected) with a picture of that MoFu (Mother f*cker), I would like to see him living like animals (as the cuban people live now).
This Benicio del Bull-sh*t, would probably no be an actor in Che's future. Probably a pimp or a cocksocker to do anything at all in theater. Che would have them all killed in a second without giving a thought about it.
So, mother f*ckers, stop talking about what you do not know.
Che was a great MoFu (probably the worst of all) but a coward and opportunist.
Castro (the worst cuba has seen) didn't like him at all.
As a matter of fact, Castro sent him to die in Bolivia.
Che begged for his life asking to let him live as it would be of more use to the United States.
Now, the U.S. (stupid and arrogant as ussual) made him a hero/idol (of the underdogs). He's got more credit that what he deserves. Let him pass to history as a chame.
