Last time we hung out with the kids from Gossip Girl, it was Thanksgiving and things seemed to be mellowing out. Jenny stopped with the divorcing of the parents and moved back in with Rufus, Serena and Aaron settled in to an exclusive relationship, Blair got to see her dad, and Chuck and Nate made nice.

But now that the mini-break is over, the drama's starting up again, and this week's episode is basically a slow build to the annual Snowflake Ball, where everyone eventually turns up one way or another. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little bored with this one — but I think next week will be really good, so it's probably worth it. There's plenty to chat about so let's get started. Just read more.
- I'm really glad the other girls get to do some serious talking this episode. Penelope, Hazel, and that other one are deliciously mean and seem to pull off scheming pretty well with or without Blair, it turns out.
- I loved Penelope's run-in with Vanessa. Penelope says something like, "Oh, hello, weird camera girl," to which Vanessa responds, "Hello, sad Blair wannabe."
- OK, raise your hand if you pulled out the dictionary when Blair said, "I like an intelligent man. He'll whisper mellifluous nothings in my ear." I did. It means "filled with something that sweetens." It feels like less of a guilty pleasure when I can argue Gossip Girl makes me smarter.
- Hmmm, how do we feel about Aaron's ex/Dan's new flame, Lexi? I found her kind of annoying. And I kept thinking of Lex Luthor (or Lexie Grey) every time they say her name.
- Serena on Dan dating Lexi: "It's a little When Harry Met Crazy."
- Dan and Serena are starting to weird me out with how open they are with each other now that they're "friends." Is it normal to devote that much time dissecting the new people you each are about to sleep with?
- Regardless, ew. I don't want to hear Serena talk about having sex with Aaron. He's still not cute to me at all.
- I really love it when Blair gives Serena advice, because she's so blunt and doesn't tolerate silly ideas. Like when Serena thinks she should "warn" Dan that Lexi sleeps with guys on the first date —"Oh absolutely, guys hate to be caught off-guard with sex."
- So Blair and Chuck come up with a little bet to find each other dates for the ball. If Blair wins she gets Chuck's limo and if Chuck wins, he gets . . . Dorota! Ha! Poor Dorota. I hope she addressed being a pawn for these kids in one of her webisodes.
- Hilariously, Blair and Chuck's doppelgangers (Chuck's was so funny!) hit it off, which only depresses Blair. Are you getting bored by the round and round with Chuck and Blair? I feel like something big and crazy needs to happen with these two.
- I might be alone on this, because I know people get irritated with Vanessa, but I'm glad she's the one who ended up with Nate. Jenny still seems like a little kid to me.
- How'd you like Nate's moral relativism? I love when people on this show explain what counts as a nasty thing to do and what's not so bad. So Vanessa lied and backstabbed her good friend, but according to Nate, Jenny exposing Vanessa's undies to the entire ball was worse and unforgivable. That seems like a crappy-friend tie to me, but what do I know?
- And then there's Lily and Rufus! Aw, I like them together and their little dance made me feel nice inside.

Bart Bass is in an accident! Things are going to get really crazy! What did you all think? Sound off below, and to check out all the clothes, head to CelebStyle!

I'm with you on this episode, it was boring. At some point during the ball when we returned to Dan and Serena, I actually said aloud, "Oh yeah, you guys are on this show too." Everything was so forgettable.
Nate's moral compass is really wonky. He turned his father into the Feds but Vanessa going behind Jenny's back and lying was "So what". Riiiight...that all made so much sense Man-bangs.
1OK, I must admit last episode left me quite disappointed.
We had to wait 2 weeks and we got minimal Chuck and Blair interaction? I wanted more
I loved:
- Chuck playing the piano
-Chuck and Blair betting on Dorota
-Dorota's reaction to the bet
Golden line: Chuck to Dorota - "I take my breakfast in bed."
Dan and Serena are still in love and I don't care. Whole Dan/Serena/Aaron/Lexie storyline was waste of time.
Vanessa is a viper. She was responsible for Nate and Jenny growing apart and then she tearfully confessed that to Nate and he forgave her that but condemned Jenny's juvenile frank. Nate and Vanessa deserve each other, seriously! They disgust me.
Lily I hate you. She doesn't even give Bart benefit of doubt and runs to Rufus again. Lily and Rufus - another disgusting couple. Acting like a teenagers in public, don't they ever think they might hurt other people? Chuck for example.
And did I hear right? Did Blair call Aaron hot? Very crazy and unbelievable writing.
Promo for next week looks great, hope they won't dissapoint us.
2This was a pretty sill episode- ok, I am writing this and some voice over just came on describing what a co-pay is???? Has this happened to anyone else??? BuzzSugar- what is up with this? I can't concentrate to typoe!!
3I could totally tell that something was going to happen to Bart, why else would they be focusing on his character and his characters relationships so much. Yeah it definitely IS weird how Dan and Serena AND Aaron and Lexie are discussing their plans for sex with the other people. Umm I don't think I would ever talk to an ex about that stuff? Friends or not...
4And Vanessa still annoys me. She CAME CLEAN to Nate about the fact she stole that letter, so what? That was a horrible thing to do to a friend, it would be more NOBLE if she actually told Jenny not Nate. She just annoys me to no end that girl. Jenny was a little bit back to her old self in this episode, and I don't think that exposing somebody's underwear is that big of a deal. Good Grief. And as everyone would actually be following a spotlight anyways since it seemed to be going all over the dance floor.
Oh and Dorota on Facebook made me LOL
5Well obviously Bart Bass is going to die.
Also, I HATE Vanessa, and I'd rather see Nate with someone underage like Jenny than her. Even though I don't really like Nate that much... mmm.
6PS: I really want Chuck and Blair just to get together already. Or at least have a good healthy boink fest.
7Yeah this episode was lame. I think the bet between Chuck and Blair was dumb - I mean neither of them could have really liked the other person chosen for them (they looked like freshmans!). And the prank on Vanessa was dumb. It's like they were trying to pull a "Carrie" but a dress w/out lining? Right...
8I was unimpressed with Vanessa's apology. What Jenny did was really mean, but Vanessa kinda deserved it!
I was even LESS impressed with Aaron this episode, and I thought that was impossible given that he's just SLIMY. Ugh, I can't stand his pushy princess ex, Lexie and I HATED that he let her talk smack about Serena and didn't even stand up for Serena - he defended Lexie and basically told Serena to put up or shut up. She needs to dump him NOW!
I loved Chuck playing the piano, too
9*freshmen (i can usually spell...)
10I so called Bart dying! If anyone remembers a few weeks after season 1's finale the way it was supposed to go was released and Bart died in a car crash then!
11Penelope and the part of her being able to"pull off scheming pretty well with or without Blair" is not something I agree with! I think the dress prank was seriously lame! Yeah, that dress was obviously see through... but it wouldn't be a stretch if someone on this show were to actually wear that thing seriously!
Surprisingly liked Vanessa on this episode. At least she has some depth to her character. Nice change for once!
12That was really weird. I didn't click on an ad and no pop up appeared, but this voice suddenly started lecturing me. But it stopped when I posted above. Really annoying- if Sugar is testing a new kind of ad or something, don't do it!
Anyway, this episode was pretty silly. The mean girls are SOOO mean, but without the style of Blair. I really hated how nasty Blair was to Dorota, too. I mean, the woman has practically raised her and she will auction her off to Chuck?? Although, Chuck might just send D off on a month long cruise or something. he had hidden niceness.
Let's see- Little J is just such a jerk now- I really couldn't stand her. I'm not a big V fan, but she definitely deserved Nate in this case- although Ekaterina Ballerina is right- his moral compass is so convoluted it's funny. Also, I thought the dress J designed for the nasty girl looked like a silver curtain or something. It was icky.
I did like Chuck trying - really- to save his dad's marriage. I wonder what the heck Lilly did???? It looks like Bart might be kicking the bucket though, and who will end up with those Bass billions?
I'm also really amused by how easily Lilly marries and divorces people. Did Bart think it could never happen to him? At least she can support Rufus' slackster life. But I bet she'll keep her swank apartment.
Serena is really dumb sometimes. I can't stand pretentious Aaron. Or Lexy, the new girl, but of course Dan is going to want to sleep with her, I mean, come on, he's self-righteous, but with Nate's moral flexibility. I loved Serena's ball dress- but again with S and the incredible cleavage!!! I totally thought she was going to fall out at the gallery. And PLEASE, PLEASE- as someone who actually attended art school and went to way too many student shows- stop Aaron's pathetic 'photo collages' or whatever the heck they're supposed to be. They really are so dippy and trite- there is no way they would ever make it into an actual gallery. They look like magazine photos for a Gap campaign. I hate to say it, but Lexy had it right on the money there.
Chuck and Blair's doppelgangers were really funny. But yes, it's all dragging on a bit too much. I want to see them unite their evil against a common enemy until they give in to each other or something.
13You're not alone Buzz. I'm so for Vanessa and Nate, and all my friends hate me for it
14UGHHH please get rid of Aaron ASAP...everytime he's on I just want to scream....so gross and creepy. Blair thinking he's hot? Yeah, right.
Definately building up to some kind of Serena/Dan reunion....I think they'll be better if they're back together, Dan's storylines have been kinda boring lately.
15Well, this episode was a little boring, I must admit. BUT what I don't understand is the whole triangle with Nate/Jenny/Vanessa. First of all, Vanessa has to be the most boring character on this show (Aaron is off competition - actually, on another site, I think TV Squad, they called Aaron "Boring Aaron" which then led to "Boron" - quite fitting, in my opinion) and I don't like her at all. She lies, she back-stabs and then gets away with it like nothing ever happened !
I mean, Jenny says at the end that Vanessa is twice the girl the Billiard b*tches ever will be (all right, that isn't saying much) and Nate leaves with her when not two weeks ago he wrote a heartfelt letter to ANOTHER girl saying he had feelings for her. Wow. That's powerful teenage flip flopping if you want my opinion.
Anyway, the sole reason Nate chooses Vanessa is that she told him it was the 1st time she felt something like that for someone ? Talk about NARCISSISM !! I wish he had chosen Jenny (he did in the books anyway). Even if she's a brat. Which she is. But she's 15. So she's allowed to have a little teenage crisis, right ?
In other fronts, Boron needs to go immediately and take this Lexi character with him. Dan and Serena still love each other and don't convince us a second when they say they're moving on...
I foresee yet another letting down of Rufus by the always lovely Lily. Oh well. The show isn't really centered on them.
And as for my favorite B & C. To paraphrase Gob of Arrested Development : Not even a little kiss ? "COME ON !"...
)
16That Lexie girl seemed like 30 to me. Looks and language-wise. Weird. Didn't like her.
Seems to me like Nate and Dan switched brains. Nate is now THE moral compass and Dan is being pretty chill. It's like WTF? I prefer judgmental Dan to judgmental Nate. Serena and Dan belong together but they seem better as friends. Maye they should be friends with benefits.
Bart dying sucks. I liked Bart. He never got enough screen time.
LOVED Dorota on Facebook. I like that we see her more than Eleanor. Ick.
Can't wait to see next episode. Oh man...
17Boron, hahaha! It's better that Aaron Bobby!
18Aaron gives me the heebie jeebies. He's gross and ugly. Blake Lively definitely had a boob job. Those puppies are on display in everything she wears this season. I'm sick of the back and forth b/w Chuck and Blair. Just get together and be done with it! Dorota on Facebook made me laugh out loud. I loved Lily's Vera Wang gown at the ball and I love she and Rufus, but I really wish she had given Bart a chance to be a good husband. He seemed genuine.
19OMG, snore. I expected more from this episode. Aaron is gross, Serena is dumb, Lexi was annoying but cute, Dan is...well, Dan. Blair & Chuck just need to get over themselves and become a couple, Lily & Rufus belong together, Jennie is young, and Nate & Vanessa are completely self-righteous and deserve each other. My favorite character is fully Dorota!
20I agree that this episode was boring, and finding out that Ed is dating Jessica in real life (ugh) kinda ruined the episode for me ;-( all I could think about was the fact that Ed was kissing Jessica in some Dallas airport! ugh! Anyway I did expect more from this episode, but I think they're only teasing us with the Chuck/Blair thing. The one scene I did like was when Chuck was talking to Blair, telling her to dance with him, and he said "We have tonight." So amazing!
21Do you guys realize that with Bart dying that Chuck is now an orphan? What a blow. Not even Chuck Bass deserves this.
22I was so distracted by Serena's chest at the dance that I forgot everything else that happened. It was a bit much, IMHO. Blair looked much more beautiful.
And I agree with some others that Aaron is totally fug and gross and needs to go.
23Not only will Chuck be an orphan... but he'll probably feel responsible for Bart's death AND his mother's death!
Poor Chuck.
24I feel like Caleb Nichol is having his heart attack all over again! I actually like Bart Bass, but then I liked Caleb too. Apparently I have a thing for slightly evil, rich old guys. And Lily is annoying me. Leave Rufus alone, or at least get a divorce first. Geez.
I'm getting a little sick of the Blair/Chuck runaround too. I just want them to get together already. Also, I really dislike Aaron. He's at least as irritatingly hipster-ish as Dan, and Dan and Lexi together are horrendous. She brings out all of Dan's annoyingness. Also, Dan and Serena talking about their new sex objects is just plain weird.
25Also, my BF came in just as I snorted at Serena's ball dress. He couldn't really figure out why I was bothered by the boobs (well, obviously, I guess). I didn't even try to explain. Her clothes are just ridiculous this season.
26I hope next week is awesome with a hurt Chuck taking his dad's death out on everyone. His brand of evil is entertaining to me.
I do get butterflies in my stomach about Lily and Rufus though.
27They need to keep Blair and Chuck away from each other for a few episodes of their relationship is totally going to get old.
28"or" not "of"
29I'm so over Vanessa.
30I loooove Chuck. And would love for he and Blair to just do it already. Again. Whatevs. It's time.
31Bart is totally dead. And, yes, not even Chuckles deserves to be an orphan, but should be good tv for him to get evil with Lily.
Rufus is a total dumbas$ to keep taking Lily back, but I'm still kind of excited for that reconciliation.
Don't care about Serena and Dan, but was mesmerized by the major boob display. Wow. I mean that in both good and bad ways.
Hate Little J. Hate her, hate her, hate her.
Don't like Vanessa, either.
But I love Dorata!
i'm getting so tired of this show. the first season was much better. besides chuck and blair, i don't empathize or sympathize with any of the characters. also:
-serena's boobs look fake and gross, and her clothes get trashier every week
-aaron is disgusting
-i was hoping vanessa would be the one killed off. her character is useless. killing off bart is predictable and a cheap O.C. knockoff!
so i may be saying bye-bye to gg!
32This episode was just kind of meh.
I love Blair and Chuck and I was glad they had some kind of interaction this episode, even if it wasn't enough. But I kind of agree, that the whole circling around each other thing is getting annoying. They need to get together, even if its just something casual, or find another way to keep things interesting between them. I am kind of getting bored with this whole 'it's pretty obvious we love each other and we want to be together but we don't want to lose what we have now so we can't be together' thing they have going on.
The Serena/Dan/Aaron/Lexi storyline was really boring. Aaron is ugly and gross. Serena is boring. Lexi is annoying. And Dan is...well Dan. I really couldn't care less about any of these people. Aaron and Lexi need to go.
And Serena, we get it, you have boobs. You don't have to let them hang out ALL the time. It is okay to cover them up every once in a while. I'm surprised she hasn't joined some kind of nudist colony by now.
I don't like Dan and Serena as a couple (I don't really like them as friends either...but to me, they're worse as a couple). So I'm really not rooting for them to get back together.
Vanessa is hands down the worst character on the show. And probably my least favorite character on television. Why is she getting so much freaking screen time? She's a hypocrite, a backstabber, and a liar. And she's not even a very entertaining one. Her character is so dull and annoying. Oh, and she's an idiot. I mean, seriously, how could she not know that dress was see-through? The material looked really thin and the dress didn't have a lining and when Isabel tried the dress on, the lighting wasn't even that bright and she was able to figure out that it was see-through. The whole prank was totally lame, but Vanessa was stupid enough to fall for it. Ugh. I hate Vanessa. They should've killed her off instead of Bart.
And why does Nate have to be with anyone? Can't he just be alone for a while? Its a better option than being with Vanessa or Jenny.
For some reason, I expected Nastia Liukin to have a larger role. Not a main role, but more than two seconds of screen-time.
It was pretty obvious that Bart was the one who was going to die. Totally predictable. At least Bart had a purpose on the show, unlike, say...Vanessa. And its really sad that Chuck is an orphan now, though I think it'll be interesting to see how he'll handle it.
I love Lily and Rufus. And I truly believe they belong together. But it is getting annoying that every time there's a problem between her and Bart, she just goes running to Rufus. Still, they're cute.
33it's sad - i was getting so into the show when it first started this season, and now it's so lack luster that i can't stand it
34Dorota on facebook and her interaction with Blair was hilarious. Always is.
Did I catch this correctly?
Dorota: "I don't want to shine Mr. Bass's shoes"
35Blair: something about "shining something else" ??
nate and vanessa = ew
36I didn't think this episode was boring. There were parts I didn't like and parts that I did.
37First, I think we all need to sign a petition that would have Aaron's whole entire storyline removed or in other words, get rid of him. I can't stand him. I feel like he reads his lines, there's no reality to it, there's nothing that makes you like him, he's so boring. If we get that passed he can take his sleazy friend with him. And yeah Dan and Serena need to seriously move on. I wouldn't honestly tell my ex he was the best night of my life when I'm with someone else, its just weird.
Second, the VNJ love triangle. Nate needs to pick a girl. And when he picks her he better stay with her, his randomness of having feelings for every other girl ticks me off since last season. Jenny whole situation with him wasn't going to work, so I'm glad they axed it. Vanessa's, though I still get irritated by her, actually made some sense, so I hope they keep this one.
Third, Lily, Bart, and Rufus. I mean when Lily got with Bart, I knew it wouldn't last. I mean he's basically like Caleb Nichol and men like that get bored and get a 10th wife or something. Lily it was clear still had feelings for Rufus when she got married. Basically we all sorta knew Bart would get killed off the show. Lily and Rufus are like that meant to be couple. But I must say even after everything, it touches me to see how much Chuck cared for his father when he saw the intimate conversation his stepmother was having.
Finally, Chuck and Blair. You should never bet on something that would require you to lose poor, sweet and innocent Dorota. Shame on you Blair, even if you knew they wouldn't like each other. The clones they got however were amazing. Blair's I knew would be easy to find especially when she described herself to Dorota,"Brunette, intelligent but not a bookworm." To which Dorota responds, "But Miss Blair that is you." And Blair again,"No it's not and she's out there." OMG. That was so priceless. Chuck's clone had to be the best. Where the heck did they find that guy. It was so funny seeing Blair's reaction. In the end I still care about the two being together and hope they can work something out where the show doesn't get boring and it's still fun.
Aaron would be cute if he didn't have the scraggly facial hair.
Jenny needs to be killed off.
38I agree no Nate and Vanessa!
39Chuck and Blair should boink, and I loved the part about shining chucks shoes! The rest was dull.
Yep, you're right Runningesq, she definitely said Dorota would have to worry about shining something else.
40I love Blair haha. But I agree with Buzz, something needs to happen with her and Chuck.
The Vanessa and Jenny and Nate thing is just annoying. Vanessa was being shady but then why would Jenny stoop to that level? I didn't even think that trick was that great. Ok so what showing your underwear? Embarrassing, but people have worn way less.
Penelope's dress was ugly too.
Lexi was so annoying, I hope this was her only episode. Aaron isn't that cute but at least he's a one-woman thing. Serena and Dan.. eh.
41Aaron is gross. Please let him be gone.
42And I am SOOO with you on the whole Nate & Vanessa thing, I wanted them together too! Lexi was definitely annoying, her way of talking reminded me of Dawon's Creek or something, she was just way too out there.
I'm fine with Chuck and Blair being just chuck and blair... though they were totally boring, I think in the next episode we'll be in for a real treat... from what I'm reading, Ed Westwick gives one hell of a performance
runningesq (#35),
43dorota: please, i don't want to shine mr. chuck's shoes for a month.
blair: his shoes if you're lucky.
Although I'm not loving their storyline at the moment, I actually do like Nate & Vanessa together. They have good chemistry! Plus it gives Vanessa something to do besides the art gallery
Ugh with Aaron already - I mean, come on, he's just skeezy. God, Serena would be better of dating some Upper East Side Investment Banker.
44Although I'm not loving their storyline at the moment, I actually do like Nate & Vanessa together. They have good chemistry! Plus it gives Vanessa something to do besides the art gallery
Ugh with Aaron already - I mean, come on, he's just skeezy. God, Serena would be better of dating some Upper East Side Investment Banker.
45I'm really hoping that since Chuck will be so devastated, Blair will come in and something exciting and meaningful will happen with them! Wishful thinking.. Also Vanessa usually annoys me to no end, but I just do not like Nate and Jenny together!
46Nate is starting to really annoy me with all his girl-switching. He needs to just pick one and stay with her. Also, I'm so sad about the Bart thing...he probably found out what Lily was institutionalized for right before he got in that accident, and they never got to resolve things. And the last thing Bart said to Chuck was "Just when I think we're making progress, you show your true colors" or something like that. I have a feeling that next week's episode is going to make me run out of tissues.
47I am GG's #1 fan and I think this episode was not bad at all. Last week and the week before, but this one was not bad. I liked it! I laughed! Though my sense of humor my be questionable, since I on occasions laugh at knock, knock jokes.
What was off:
1) Lily has been a b*tch with Bart waaaay before she found out about his manila envelopes. I think she is gathering every thing she can to excuse herself from her marriage with Bart.
2)Blair saying that Aaron is hot. No, he is not hot. Why in the world would she say he is hot? Is it because he comes from money? Eww! he is your soon to be step-brother.
3) Serena or Blake, I think we all understand that you have a killer rack. Cover it up some before you catch pneumonia. You are starting to cross the line from "Marilyn Monroe Sexy" to "Pam Anderson Sexy". Has anyone seen the stills from her in that ball gown? It is cut short in the front to show off her legs! Too much skin!
4) Chuck and Blair clones were way ugly. Frankly, I look more and act more like Blair than her clone. Chuck's looked like he was 15 years old.
And the bet storyline is old and annoying, but the stakes were the best part. SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE LOST!!
5) Aaron rose, Brown is calling you! You need to pack-up and leave and then you should permanitly move to Europe and never return to NYC. Just like Carter Baizen, and Lord Marcus.
6)Rufus and Lily. Please! You had your chance! Move on people!
7) I like the idea of Nate & Vanessa, but every time they have kissed they have no chemistry.
9) I felt like this episode ended abruptly. Needed a better ending.
What went well:
1) Dorota.
2)Chuck in every every shot. Even in sequins.
3)Lexie is mean, but I thought she was funny in a very mean b*tchy way.
4)Nate and Vannesa.
5) Vannessa looked beautiful!
6)Jenny stood up for herself. Way to go J!
7)Thank you Nate for ending things with Jenny. She is waaay tooo young and immature. She needs someone her own age and without family issues like Nate.
My thoughts about the characters on upcoming episodes:
1)Chuck is out for blooooood! That is from Lily!
2)Lily's secret is deeper than a stint at a mental facility.
3) Chuck and Blair will begin to have an actual relationship due to the upcoming events. I think they will finally be close. Sure, Chuck may push Blair away, but she will insist. Blair is very instinctively maternal and she will comfort Chuck in his time of need, just like she did with Serena.
6) Watch out everyone for a super angry Chuck! Everyone will feel his wrath.
4) Money fight between Lil and Chuck.
48Lexi is irritating to say the least.
49Can we all just agree that Jenny's haircut is GOD AWFUL? Everytime I see her on screen, I'm distracted by it. Jenny might have a chance with Nate if she went to a decent hair salon!
