TV watching in the US is now at an all-time high. According to a new Nielsen survey, the average US household has the TV on for eight hours and 18 minutes each day. That's more than a third of the day!
Granted, that doesn't mean people are actually watching closely — having the TV on in the background would count toward that total. But still! Eight hours! Not to say I've never done it, but I assume I watch more TV than most people. But I could be wrong, so tell me — how does your TV watching compare to the US average?
.) DVR machines are a blessing since I can skip over the commercials, gaining time to watch
an extra program. Leaving the TV on for 8+ hours is such a waste of money.

I'd say I watch about 2 hours or less, a day.

I don't own a TV - I refuse to have one of those instruments of a-culturation in my home, and my boyfriend feels the same way. For the love of God, I can't remember when was the last time I saw or heard something intelligent coming out of the mouth of anyone on tv - expect maybe for Jon Stewart.
I do torrent a couple of shows, because since I moved back to France, watching Lost or The Office dubbed in French is so painful it's like driving a screwdriver through my brain.
I read the news from 8 different sources every morning on the web. I see movies at the theater. And if someone tells me about a good show or documentary they saw, I usually can find it online. Thank you for the internets, Mr. Gore.
