It seems like every day, I hear about another movie getting re-released in Blu-ray. The "next-generation," high-definition DVD format promises sharper pictures and brighter colors, and it seems to be really taking off this holiday season. I, though, still don't have a player that can handle Blu-ray discs, so it's all sort of lost on me. What about you?

I love Blu-Ray. I don't buy them yet 'cause the cost so much more but I rent it whenever possible.
I also find myself frequently coming out of the movies thinking about how amazing that one would like in HD ... i.e. all the foliage in Twilight.
My husband and I have put our movies on our hard drive and are now watching them on the computer...Blu Ray will be done soon as people will be able to download movies and keep them on PVRs and Hard drives. Disk space is so much cheaper now! And how nice to have your movies and TV in the same spot without extra equipment.
I rather have regular DVDS and I don't like watching things on the computer.
well we've had a PS3 for over a year and we do use it for Blue-ray and it's kind of cool - but i'm not as fanatic about it as other people.
Oh, and I forgot to say I hate how quickly technology changes in recent years.
we have a Blu-Ray player (the PS3) but we only buy high actions, lots of special effects movies on Blu-Ray, the rest are pointless to spend the extra money on.
I don't watch movies on dvd. I tend to order them directly through my cable's on-demand service. the dvds I use are for exercise, so high-definition or whatever doesn't really matter
I have a PS3 as well and blockbuster online movie pass so yeah, if a movie is out on BluRay we definitely get it, its not like it costs anymore, so why not?
apparently it's a very big deal. I know quite a few people getting bluray players and or discs for christmas. we have an up-converter, something my engineer husband found and it plays non-hd dvds in a higher format, which works for us. The new bluray movies are so expensive!
I don't really care about it, except I really want to watch the Earth series and it's only available on blu-ray.
Blu rays are NOT done, I have had a player for over a year now (in our PS3) and they are amazing. downloaded isnt going to be in the same High Res.
They're awesome.
I've heard RAVE reviews about Blu-Ray from different people but, in these harsh economic times, I'm still going to stick to DVD. You just can't ever keep up, though!
unless they bring the prices way down I'll stick with regular for now. Really thought within a few years downloaded will probably be the way to go. Not just to play on the computer but on your TV as well. Or even putting movies on memory card type things. That seems like a better idea than discs that can get scratched and ruined so easily. Technology is constantly changing so while yes right now downloading movies might not have the resolution, I'm sure it will soon
I'd eventually be interested in them, however I'd have to first upgrade my TV and then my player.
Don't have one and won't be buying one. I'm with Baluk...they will be a thing of the past soon as everyone will be downloading movies (we already do via our Xbox and Netflix).
Also, I think it is such a bunch of BS that BluRay won out over HD DVD players. Stupid Sony.
nope far too much!
I could not care less. As long as the old stuff works, I'm good.
Nope! Too expensive for one and we download all of our movies. The only time we buy one is if it's a favourite and we want to actually own it.
I can barely afford to buy regular DVDs let alone super expensive Blu-Rays and the player to go with it.
My dad bought one and loves it. The colors and picture are beautiful... but I think I am going to just get a ps3 cause it does Blu-Ray but you can also play games... Win win baby!
I have 2 blu-ray players- the PS3 and one that came free with my HDTV... but I usually buy normal dvds anyway. They still get a quality boost from the bluray player. But bluray discs are just too much money, although if I see some on sale I might grab them.
Blu-Ray discs are too expensive right now, so I'll just stick with regular DVDs. I'm sure we will get a PS3 eventually though and then we will buy Blu-Ray DVDs.
I love it! I only buy the movies that I think would make a huge difference in blu-ray, i.e. Nightmare Before Christmas, Casino Royale, etc. but for movies like 27 dresses, I just buy the regular format since it doesn't make a difference.
I find Blu-Ray discs really awesome and I love them. I tend to buy the films with high action because it just looks so much better.
no
We have a PS3 and that practically obligates you to buy Bluray. I do recognize the significant increase in quality over regular DVDs, but to be honest, I'm just as happy with DVD quality.
We usually get blu-ray for high action and Disney Pixar movies only. My husband bought us an AWESOME 60 inch plasma HDTV and blu-ray movies looks so fantastic, you can really see the difference.
It is way too expensive for us to make the switch. We are happy with our regular DVDs. At least they are better quality than VHS. -shrug-
Netflix now has Blu-Ray! I only buy my favourites
I own a LOT of DVDs and the Blue-Rays are way too expensive. I would be down with getting a Blue-Ray to watch my DVDs on though since it supposedly makes them look better...
nope! I could care less about blu-ray... maybe once I get my dream living space with my dream humungo television and theater system then I will add a blu-ray to the mix but not a minute until
They are a lot of money so we only buy them for each other on holidays and just movies worth having on blu-ray. The picture is amazing so it's worth it but not worth having every movie on.
