Seriously, they're going to have to give the Office non-spinoff spinoff a name really soon, because this is just getting confusing. But here's the deal: Rashida Jones has booked a role on the Amy Poehler-led new NBC comedy, which will reunite her with The Office writers Greg Daniels and Michael Schur.
Rumors of Jones joining the spinoff first surfaced months ago, but that was way back when we thought the show would be a direct spinoff of The Office (oh, how silly we were!). Today, Office Tally confirmed Jones's casting straight from Schur himself, who told the blog that Jones "will be playing a nurse named Ann (not Karen Fillipelli)."
So . . . a nurse, huh? Is that a hint about the show's setting? Is it a tidbit meant to throw us off-course that won't be relevant to the story at all? Am I thinking way too much about this show, which so far has three cast members (Poehler, Jones, and Aziz Ansari) but no title or publicly known plotline to speak of?
The answer to the last one, at least, is yes. But hey, how can I not be excited? This seems like a good move for Jones, who certainly deserves better than her last sitcom job. What do you think?

I don't know why but I just don't like Rashida Jones.
In...anything.
I think I'm the only one too.
1Nope not the only one, I don't think she is a good actress at all. And I still am pissed at her for the whole Jim/Pam thing. (okay not really on the last part but I didn't like her character much then)
2well isn't the first rule of thumb with a spin-off or a new show to create buzz? they are certainly doing that with all this talk so i can't wait to see what they come up with
3I like Rashida. She's was natural (not melodramatic) trying to give dry humor, considering that screwed up role they gave her in 'The Office.' I try not to hold actors to their characters unless they play them over and over again...and in movies. ahem. And are the writer or producer. I'd like to see her try comedy.
4*She
5i like her too
6I like her but I don't know why some people are just crazy about her..
7I like Rashida a lot. I liked her in the BBC series "NY-LON" before she got really famous. Plus, I think she is sooo beautiful...she is so uniquely attractive.
8she's cool and Amy Poehler is AMAZING so this should be good!
9i love rashida jones!!! i am so happy for her
i will def watch the non-spinoff
spinoff. haha.
10Here's my question: if they want to separate The Office from the non-spin-off, why the hell would you chose an actress who was on The Office and is apparently still suppose to guest on The Office? It doesn't make sense and of all the actresses in Hollywood, they selected her. Again.
I rather Rashida do dramatic roles instead of comedic because, to be honest, she doesn't do well in comedic roles. She's played basically the same role in all of the comedies that she's been in.
