Today, MTV bids farewell to a onetime pop culture behemoth: TRL. Not long ago, you all shared your memories of the video request show, which ranged from Jesse Camp to Mariah Carey's Popsicles to drooling over the Backstreet Boys. For tonight's special, some of the people involved with the show will be stopping by to do a little reminiscing of their own.
The two-hour "Total Finale Live" episode features host Carson Daly returning for what he's called his "high school reunion." Joining the fun: the Backstreet Boys, Fall Out Boy, and Justin Timberlake, among others. Mariah Carey will swing by the studio; Beyonce and 50 Cent will be among the performers; Ludacris, Snoop Dogg, and Nelly will collaborate for a special performance; and Daly hinted that even more special guests could swing by at showtime.
It's only appropriate to bring back the VJs, too, and so Lyndsey Rodrigues, Vanessa Minnillo, Dave Holmes, Jesse Camp, Hilarie Burton, La La Vasquez, and Quddus will join TRL-ers Carson Daly and Damien Fahey in the studio. With all of that going on, I wonder if they'll have time to play any videos?
The episode will air at 8 p.m. EST (check your local listings elsewhere) tonight. Will you be tuning in for one last look at TRL? After the jump, you'll find a video from MTV telling everything you need to know about the rise and fall of TRL in 60 seconds. To check it out, just read more.

i feel like this show should have been cancelled a long time ago. even though they dont do it anymore, i loved when they would go places for the summer and do their show from there. all in all im glad its going off the air!!
1Aww i'm so sad. I stopped watching when I was outta HS. But I'm so excited... I can't wait to see Jesse Camp again
, Carson Daly, ......... and of course the Backstreet Boys!!!!! I was apart of the whole maddness!!
2OK, I stopped watching like 5 years ago too, but I'm soo excited. Do you know the massive crush I used to have on Carson Daily?
3I used to watch TRL every day to see if the Backstreet Boys got to #1. After BSB dropped off the face of the earth, I stopped watching it...so it'll be fun to relive those days for a little bit. Now TRL shows the worst, most talentless stars, so I'm glad it's being cancelled.
4Wow, it all seems like so very long ago! I didn't know it was still on the air, but hey, hope it goes out with a bang tonight.
5In 2004-2005, I used to watch TRL every late-afternoon when I came home from studying. I also would catch bits of the show in the 90's. Then the show went downhill with an overload of Jonas Brothers, LC, it seemed like 12-13yr olds had taken over. There was no variety or many music videos (ironic.) Too bad, it used to be a go-to show.
6omgosh!! the backstreet boys are goin to be on ARRRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHH! LOL, wow didnt even know that show still aired. might tune in for its farewell. wow!! its been ages
7haha @ bsglrock, me tooo i used to tune in just to make sure bsb was #1!!!
8I used to rush home from school everyday to see if NSYNC would beat out the Backstreet Boys. My friends and I would vote over and over again for them. I haven't watched it since high school (I have now graduated from college and am married) but it makes me sad it is ending because it used to be such a fun part of my life. Love Carson Daly!
9After Carson left, there was no point anymore. Carson, Ananda, Dave, Jesse, and even Hillary (to a limited extent), made the show what it was. Carson didn't suck up to the stars. He was just like "Hey, so, how's it going?" instead of "OMG ITS SO AMAZING TO MEET YOU!" I'll be watching this just for Carson, Dave, and Jesse... I didn't see Ananda on the list... I wish she would come back.
10Who's Jesse Camp?
I really liked this show back in the day, I didn't really watch Carson Daly was on but I used to tune in almost every day when Quddus, La La, Hilarie, and Damien were the VJs. I stopped watching a few years ago after they got terrible VJs and stopped showing the complete music videos. My favorite time to watch this show was during spring break and the summer.
11Farewell, TRL. I loved you as a freshman in college. You were my go-to show after class.
12Wow, TRL was definitely me and my friends thing in high school. We watched it everyday. Looking for The Backstreet Boys, NSYNC, Britney Spears, etc. I can't believe it's been ten years. I stopped watching after high school. I really lost interest in the show after Carson Daly left.
I wonder why Britney Spears didn't show up for the finale?
13i saw that it was airing but i didn't tune it. it's interesting, i never really got into TRL while it was on. i love pop culture and i loved the music, but the show itself rarely did it for me. i think that part of it was because my office was 3 blocks north of the studio, so that meant that if i wanted to leave my office for any reason during the time that the show was taping - i couldn't cause it was a MADHOUSE of teenagers on the street.
14I stopped watching this such a long time ago, but I was in love with it in high school.
15This was what you watched after school- even if you didnt really care about it.
16I've never watched TRL before. I guess I never got into it.
