We won't be forgetting about Samantha Who? or Kath and Kim anytime soon. Both comedies are sticking around for the remainder of the season.
ABC has ordered seven more episodes of Samantha Who? while NBC asked for nine more from Kath and Kim. They're the first two comedies to be picked up for a full season, though CBS has ordered additional scripts for both Worst Week and Gary Unmarried.
Samantha Who? is averaging 10.5 million viewers per episode so far this season while airing after Dancing With the Stars. Meanwhile, Kath and Kim has averaged about 6 million viewers per episode airing between My Name is Earl and The Office in NBC's Thursday night block. According to The Hollywood Reporter, an NBC executive called Kath and Kim "a show we love and believe in," while Samantha Who? could help ABC launch any of the six midseason comedies it's got planned.
Are you happy these funny ladies will be sticking around? Does either pickup surprise you? Sound off below!

i think that it's good news that they are both being picked up. i think that we all love samantha who - and i would have been really surprised if it didn't get renewed. as for kath & kim - i've tried to get into the show and i LOVE selma, but i have only managed to see one episode, and it wasn't all that i expected. maybe they hope that after the first few tries they'll get it right and that's why they are ordering 9 more. we'll see - but i think that it's great news for everyone so far!
1YES! Very happy! Keep watching "Kath & Kim," it's still funny. I was disappointed by the second episode, but I stuck by for Selma and the rest of the cast hoping they would turn it around, and it is picking up. And obviously "Samantha Who?" is quite successful, so no qualms there.
2Kath and Kim has the potential to be funny but it just isn't, imo.
3I don't know anyone who is watching Kath and Kim... It definitely did not appeal to me in the promos.
4I didn't know samantha was on the chopping block, but Kath and Kim needs to get funnier faster. I know its there but they have to hit their stride in the next few episodes.
5I really like Samantha Who, although I usually just catch it online
so I'm
definitely happy it's staying!
6Haven't watched Kath & Kim but I will give it a try now that I know it'll be sticking around.
7I LOVE Samantha Who so I'm very happy it was picked up. Such a cute show and I love Christina Applegate!
I thought Kath & Kim would be hilarious, but it's not. At all.
8I'm surprised Kath & Kim had more episodes picked up, even though it has gotten bad reviews and just as many viewers as Pushing Daisies (which has sadly not been picked up
).
9No surprise that Kath & Kim got picked up. Despite pathetic ratings and its propensity to be as unfunny as any other comedy of TV, the show is being produced by Reveille, which is the studio NBC prez Ben Silverman, along with Executive VP Teri Weinberg in a package deal, were directly plucked from.
NBC will need to fire Ben Silverman before anything positive can happen with the network.
Next we'll hear that Lipstick Jungle will be renewed for a third season and Without Breasts There is No Paradise will take Heroes timeslot, tank in the ratings, and still get picked up for a full season. Meanwhile The CW and My Network TV are soaring past the peacock network in ratings.
10Oh, and Ben Silverman will spend millions trying to get whales or dolphins to sing the NBC chime.
11I love Samantha Who but I can't get into Kath and Kim. I tried watching the first episode and thought it was stupid.
12Kath and Kim is horrible. I keep hoping it'll get better, but it really sucks.
13I am in LOVE with both shows.
14So glad they are staying.
Woohoo
