On this week's Gossip Girl, Jenny gets edgy, you guys! In other words, she piles on the eyeliner and makes some questionable friends. It's all part of Little J coming into her own and finding her way in the cutthroat fashion biz. This time around, she does need someone to save her from herself, though — hmm, is it her dad? Her brother?

The rest of the episode belongs to Blair, who spends the evening longing for Chuck and soliciting love advice from a most unexpected person. Oh, and Serena hovers around Dan a lot, hoping to give the friendship thing the old college try, but it turns out she has another motivation as well. The drama! Ready to discuss? Just read more.
- First of all, I was just getting my Chinese food situated when the show opened, and I couldn't believe I was basically seeing a Blair masturbation scene. And then Dorota scolds her with "God is always watching," and I knew I hadn't imagined it. So, um, tell me what you thought of that opening! Yowza. We're not in '90s teen dramas anymore, Toto.
- Then we fly right from Blair's den of self-love over to the wholesome Humphrey pad, where Jenny premieres her new haircut. Yay or nay?
- And then she has what I'm sure many a female fan of the show has dreamed of: a run-in with a half-naked Nate on his way out of the bathroom. I would have been so stoked as a teenager if my parents let Nate live with us.
- This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me: Dan wants to do his best to be a nice guy and stay friends with Serena, so to do that, he has to befriend Blair? The biggest perk of breaking up with Serena for poor Dan is supposed to be ridding himself of her insufferably self-absorbed friends ("You have to help me to destroy Chuck Bass!"). He's a pushover.
- Dan's advice session with Blair is pretty entertaining, though. Blair: "I have an itch that only Chuck can scratch!" And when she tells Dan she doesn't want to tell Chuck she loves him, Dan responds, "Why don’t you just say it and get what you want? Frat guys have been doing that since forever." I doubt Cappie sees it that way.
- Jenny just got her dad to let her be home schooled, and then she goes and lets a model (Agnes) talk her into imploding her entire situation with Eleanor? Do you think Jenny had no choice but to stand up for her designs, or should she be humble and wait her turn?
- Agnes mentioned Nylon magazine a lot last night. Made me feel like it was the definitive arbiter of cool or something.
- How hilarious is the whole thing with that guy Max taking pictures of the girls in the bar? It gets really awkward when Max just sticks the camera in Jenny's face and snaps away. I would have been like, "Dude. Give the camera a rest."
- Blair's attempt to throw herself at Chuck, like when she "oops!" spills a drink on his pants and tries to wipe it up, gave way to some amazing Chuck Bass lines: "I gave you a shot, and while your efforts were admirable, I’m bored. You ruined my pants."
- How do you all like Aaron the artist, the new guy Serena has a crush on? I felt like he was a "meh" in the cute department.
- Vanessa gets upset with Dan for befriending Blair and tells him about last week's twisted game, concluding that "Chuck wound up being the more human of the two."
- If Blair's opening scene wasn't boundary pushing enough, the folks of GG thought they'd throw in young teens dancing around in their bras for good measure. Jenny! Those photos are going on the Internet immediately! What generation were you born into that you don't realize how inevitable this is?! Sigh.
- Nate is concerned, and Jenny doesn't get it! Why is he so concerned? He's not her brother or her dad! Turns out he's into her. Jenny and Nate! Making out! Will they fall in love? Will Vanessa be mad? Will Rufus tolerate Nate in his house now that he's got eyes for his daughter?
Do you like the idea of Aaron and Serena? Were you satisfied with Blair and Chuck's "can't live with you, can't live without you" sad conclusion? Did you see Jenny and Nate coming, or were you surprised? And was it a happy surprise or a bad surprise?

Buzz, your opening line made me lough out loud!
I also had a "errr is it what I think it is? It is!!" moment with the Blair opening scene. I guess the show mellowed down a bit since the very first episodes of the 1st season (remember when it was all about drugs, sex and alcohol?) - that scene sure reminded me that. Btw, EEWWWW.
Talking about Blair, I thought she was super refreshing with her lines. Serena and Dan are always stuck in not knowing what they want, Dan and Jenny are pushovers, Jenny is like watching a car crash everytime she makes a decision, Vanessa and Nate are so.. slow... If Blair and Chuch weren't here, I'd feel like nothing ever happens in this series! At least Blair knows what she wants, and it's nice to finally see a character driven.
Don't know what to think of the Blair/Chuck story though; I guess even as a plotline these two would be way less entertaining if they were dating like teenagers, but I don't want this to turn into another awfully boring Dan/Serena situation "we're 16 and in high school but we like to talk like 45yos who've been through countless divorces and relationships".
I really didn't like Aaron; he's so sleazy! The way he asked Serena out was patronizing rather than cute, and he looked ridiculous. Seriously, we get it: he's an artist in Brooklyn. No need to put a scarf and gigantic glasses on him.
Btw I really enjoyed the Dan/Blair scenes, I wish there were more scenes where all the characters interact.
1I love how Nate wasn’t even embarrassed when he ran into Jenny on his way out of the bathroom. He didn’t even try to cover up – it was like, “Yes, please stare at my sparse and strategically-placed chest hair.”
And for that – was he naked? Just coming out of the shower? Wouldn’t he put on clothes in the bathroom or at least wrap himself up? Or if he was just going to the bathroom – in just his boxers? Kind of weird, right? Yes, I ponder all these things…
I like Aaron’s character because he isn’t drowning in self-degradation like Dan’s. Plus, boy actually wears some color! But he doesn’t have the short, cute dreads they mentioned in the books. Funny, GG is so liberal on other points, but they thought dreads might be a little much? I wonder if they’ll go with the books and have him end up liking Blair…
How much do you bet there’s going to be a scene in next week’s show where Dan says “Hey, man, I trust you…” to Nate just so he can contrast it with his punching him out in a later scene?
P.S. Vanessa’s character seems trying as hard as poss to be absolutely unnecessary.
2I personally thought the opening scene was hilarious, especially when Dorota totally caught her and got the scolding look on her face. I laughed out loud. This whole episode was full of some good Blair and Chuck lines (Bass outta hell -> hehehe). I couldn't help but agree with Chuck a little at the end though; the idea of them going to the movies and being all wholesome is a bit odd, but I love them together!
Nay on Jenny's haircut. Nay on that bra-dancing scene too! All I could think was "She's 15! This is so wrong! She's 15!" I mean, she's 15! I felt like I should turn away from the TV or something, even though I know that it's technially no more revealing than a bikini.
Also, even when Vanessa's right, she continues to annoy the hell out of me.
3Forgot to say re the kids mentioning Nylon all the time: unfortunate timing to have the characters talk about the mag as the coolest thing ever, right when Peaches Geldof starts her column there.
I don't think (and apparently all the people who commented
on the column) that made the mag look very edgy.
4Isn't GG getting better with every epiosode?
I loved it except for one thing - HOW SOON IS NOW?
belongs to The Smiths and using a tragic Tatu version
was as tragic as Jenny&Agnes storyline! Agrh! Blasphemy!
So many great lines, great writing of Chuck and Blair...
"Every girl fantasizes about finding her Prince
Charming. But if that Prince refuses to come" - how
dirty was that!!!
"Mizz Blair,God is always watching" - I love love love
Dorota!
Jenny's new haircut and her storyline - NAY
"wow, someone loves Chuck Bass..."
Chuck's smile after Blair's message - bad boy puts his
armour down.
And speaking of armour - knight in shining Armani?
Hahaha!
Aaron was kind of cute.
+I liked Serena in this episode, she was a good friend to Blair and finally honest with Dan.
Rufus thought Dan&Blair are starting something = that
was just golden!
Bleh, Vanessa go away, you understand nothing!
And of course, for once Dan is quite decent and
non-judgemental and Vanessa poisons him with herself and
here we go again! She told Dan whatC&B did to her last
week but "forgot" to mention her little blackmail
scheme.
She serves coffee at the gallery and it's "her opening".
Yeah, sure. Opening for a renowned artist of judgement,
Vanessa Abrams.
I seriously thought Chuck will go all psycho and finally
kill Dan at the stairwell. Have you seen his face of a
serial killer?
Blair&Chuck's conclusion was so bittersweet and well made. I almost shed a tear. I hope "the future" for them is near. Ed and Leighton are brilliant.
5OMG for real!
The first scene was waaay over the top. I almost turned it off. I could have lived without ever seeing that, TYVM.
Didn't like Jenny's haircut and she is starting to get on my nerves. Too cool for school, interning, and her SHIRT? Get a grip.
Jenny and Nate? There's an ick factor. He seems so much older. I yelled at the TV when that happened. I saw it coming before it actually happened but I don't feel like there were hints in past episodes, just this one (okay and maybe once last season).
If I were Vanessa I'd be pissed that Nate was so fickle (like every other character on this show) and if I was Dan I would be HUGELY pissed that my friend was trying to get with my sister. And Buzz, my first thought was that Rufus would kick him out. We'll have to see I guess!
Blair/Chuck, glad there was some resolution. That game could only go on for so long. It was actually a rather mature resolution too which was shocking!
Aaron? Cute that they used to know each other, otherwise, blah. I hope they don't get together.
Anyone else think Little J has the worst taste in friends?
6Oh, and I liked the bit where Blair, Dan, and Serena are talking and Blair mentions the judgment creeping into his voice. When Serena says "he's working on that" I totally cheered.
7Okay so I loved this episode so much! Chuck was hotter than usual! He just made me melt! The opening was weird though but Dorota saves it!
Jenny's hair is weird. It's mullet-esq but kinda cool. Her make-up was waaaayy to heavy. She looked like she was trying to channel The Joker.`
8That Agnes girl seemed like Georgina minus the psycho part.
And where did Nate/Jenny come from? Meh.
9Did anyone else cringe when Nate and Jenny kissed? It was just kind of weird to me...
10well i think that this past episode was a bit drab actually. i like that serena finally realized that she knew aaron, but i saw that one coming a LONG time before she figured it out. as for blair and chuck - yea those two are just a mess. i guess the way that this show will evolve is that if they get together, then that will be the end of the series so there has to be a bit more tension i think.
jenny jenny jenny - like we all didn't know that the nate kiss wasn't coming? i guess it's nice to see a 15 year old out there doing whatever it is that she wants - i can't imagine that any parents would be ok with that - but oh well. that's why it's TV right? i liked the dress though the one that agnyes took from jenny - with the poofy pink underskirt. very cute!
11Elizabeth, I agree. Jenny seems so young! I was glad she stood up to Elenor.
Oh I also don't really like Aaron
12Hil, I agree. She seemed like a bad kisser.
13P.S. Jenny's dress was so ugly. The shape of the top was ok, but the material and that little tulle petticoat? It looked straight off the reject pile at Hot Topic.
14"P.S. Vanessa’s character seems trying as hard as poss to be absolutely unnecessary."
Honestly. She's sort of like Nate in my opinion in that she's pretty and adds a different flavour lookwise but her annoyingness and pointlessness cancels it all out. And when she dropped that comment about Dan taking Nate in *flat stare* so she'd have prefered it if he'd stayed in an abandonned house? It's her own fault they're not friends.
At least Nate can stand there and be slightly boring eye candy until he goes all possessive. That boy needs to be on his own for a little bit, like no relationship, no crush no nothing, he just hops all over the place.
Okay, what was the art that was on display? The words? Because seriously, I thought that was just the set up until the big showing, not the show itself.
I missed the first five minutes so I have no comment on Blair's self love and the Nate//Jenny situation.
I understand on one hand why Jenny was upset about not even being allowed to get credit for her work but geez, she's a sheep who pretends at being a wolf. Anyone is nice to her all of a sudden her world view changes and she does whatever they want. I blame Rufus. If he would be firm with her at least ONCE in her life, she might no better than to take her clothes off in front of some 25+ year old man.
Aaron just seemed like a prop to get some awkwardness between Dan and Serena started, and Serena is seriously naive if she thinks Blair and Chuck could be friends.
I agree about the 'hey man, I trust you' scenerio with the punch after, definitely going to happen.
15I totally agree with tinsleystyle about how useless Vanessa's character seems to be in the grand scheme of the show. If she were to be cut from the show with no warning, I wouldn't notice or care. This is a big shame because in the books, Vanessa is an interesting counterpart to the shallow, self-centered characters that were Serena, Blair, Nate and to a certain degree, Dan. I think what allowed that was in the books Vanessa went to the same school as Blair and Serena so sometimes their fates were intertwined. With the tv's version of Vanessa being relegated to home schooling she has no reason to be in the picture at all.
So what creeped me out the most in the show was not Blair's self loving, rather Nate and Jenny's kiss. I know that he's playing a 17 year old so in that world, it would be perfectly ok, but all I could see was a 23 y.o. kissing a 15 y.o. and that was not cool!!
16Ugh Jammie I know! Wtf? that was not art.
Oh and Dan had the best lines last night!
17I liked how Jenny stood up for herself against Elanor. She was so right! What Elanor was doing was so wrong. Blair and Dan together are so funny, they should have more moments like that. As for the Blair and Chuck, I was kind of getting sick of the back and forth thank goodness at the end the put a resolution to it. Dan and Aaron I don't like but it seems like he'll be sticking around for a while. As for Nate and Jenny I actually think they're ok, waaayyy better than Nate and Venessa that's for sure. I kind of saw it coming. But what creeps me out is that in real life she's 15 and Chase is like 22, now that's pretty crazy. I think when Rufus finds out He'll kick Nate out and Dan will def be pissed judging from next week's episode. Can't wait as always.
18Oh, the dress, I honestly don't know where Jenny's style change came from since she's usually influenced by other people. Agree on the kiss equalling cringes.
And someone mentioned them toning Aaron done from the books, they did the same thing with Vanessa though right? Wasn't she supposed to have a bald head and be biker boots and leather type?
19oops I mean Serena and Aaron my mistake lol.
20I don't think Rufus will be too much upset by the Nate/Jenny thing - aren't the characters supposed to be 17 and 15? Plus Nate's puppy eyes probably convinced everyone he was a nice kid.
21The kiss was pretty uncomfortable though; I was mainly disturbed by the fact Jenny's supposed to be an innocent and shy teenager, and that when they kissed, well, she wasn't.
Just when I think GG could get better!
Nay on Jenny's new do and Aaron is ok....as long as he throws away his glasse, but yay to a half naked Nate!
Jenny and Nate looks so weird together.....how can nate just have feelings for her outta no where? he was all in "like" with V just a few epi away? they should have play this out a little slower..maybe I could have except it better.
but I am all about Blair and Chuck, how cute was chuck when he made that face in the limo when he was talking to blair and he said "your killing me" (something like that) (This scenc and the roof top scenc reminds me of blairs 17th bday in season one)
The acting was great from these 2, and yes i admit i teared up a little in the end when they kissed and she had tears in her eyes...sometime I forget they are playing high school kids....hahaha
22Aaron's geeky hair looks so contrived.
I was so infuriated with Dan when he messed up with Blair's head before she went to meet up with Chuck on the rooftop. I was like, "Dan and Vanessa should just freakin' disappear from the show!" Lol.
Nate. And Jenny. You lucky girl! Hmph!
When Chuck was enumerating things like them going to the movies and them holding hands, I was like, "Whyyyyy not?!!!!" Those two would look so cute.
23wytang, I think they've always liked each other. Remember they were pretty friendly in the first season.
24Papaver: I have that song on my Zune and it took me a minute to realize what song it was. They butchered it SO much, I recognized the words but the music and vocals were completely MEH.
25I had to turn away when Jenny and Nate kissed! Make me so uncomfortable! And it was too fast or something!?! ick...
26love blair and chuck!! i wish they woudl just try to work it out!! and i was hopign aaron was like the books. hippie step-brother to blair but i can't see that happening!!
27love blair and chuck!! i wish they woudl just try to work it out!! and i was hopign aaron was like the books. hippie step-brother to blair but i can't see that happening!!
28Also Nay on Jenny's new do..it looks really fried...overly bleached. She is so young looking and Nate looks and acts so much older than the pairing is so ick. Was it just me or was the make out scene unbelieable. Nate/Chace didn't seem to know where to put his hands! It was just all over the place..I know it is supposed to represent passion but it just didn't look right.
I think I saw a preview of next week where Jenny get's her own fashion show, Blair flips outs when she sees Jenny kissing Nate. And..Dan punches Nate out for Jenny presumably and Rufus is getting someone arrested (with Jenny all hysterical "Seriously Dad?!). Major drama and love love love.
29I remember being 15, and 17, and at a sideways glance I could fall in love. I didn't see Jenny/Nate being any different, at all. I also remember making stupid decisions, and not seeing them at all, even tho, as I look back, they were plain as day.
Not that I'm saying GG is anywhere near grounded in reality, but maybe there's more reality than I want to admit. I just don't wanna see Blair's fantasies all plastered 27" wide...wait...maybe I do considering the subject...I just don't want Blair involved in her own Chuck fantasy that I just hijacked.
30i can't stand jenny the character or from what i've seen, the actress in real life. it was all so contrived and cliche. her edgy make-up, clothes, hair friends...yuck! it was hard for me to even watch her scenes without wanting to change the channel!
31I thought it was cute that Nate and Jenny got together- I remember having big-time crushes on my older brother's friends so maybe that's why I was so excited for Little J!
32Last night's episode was SO GOOD. Although I'm still warming up to the idea of Nate and Jenny. This sudden attraction to each other didn't seem plausible. It seems that GG does that with a lot of the romantic relationships on the show...there is never any build-up.
Other thoughts:
33- I didn't think Blair was masturbating in the first scene, I thought she was just having a sex dream but I guess both make sense.
- Don't like Jenny's new haircut, but I liked how it looked with some of the cute outfits she wore last night. The eyeliner is a bit overdone though.
- Dan + Serena (as friends) = Doesn't work
- I'm glad Jenny stood up to Eleanor, because it was unfair the way that Blair's mom was using her
- Agnes looks WAY too young to be clubbing and dancing around in her underwear. And her boyfriend is creepy.
- Blair & Chuck had some great lines as usual, and it was funny how Blair tried to seduce him with all of the cliches like spilling a drink on his pants.
- Aaron Rose was kinda cute but he seemed a little too "hip" and he was shorter than Serena. Weird.
- Jenny is so stupid to dance around in her underwear while that guy took pictures of them. My first thought was that her dad would see it and that made me want to puke.
- I foresee a secret Nate/Jenny romance since I'm sure her dad and brother won't be happy to learn that they are together.
"and i was hopign aaron was like the books. hippie step-brother to blair but i can't see that happening!!"
Thanks for reminding me.
I don't see it happening either. OMG...his name is Aaron
Rose? Funny, my aunt used to date a guy with the same name. Weird.
I do not get the Nate/Jenny pairing AT ALL. It is out of place, what a mismatch. And creepy to boot.
34The Blair/Chuck drama is fantastic. They're both so twisted but trying to be a little more human and they just can't. I love it!
35Serena and Dan are boring now, so hopefully Dan gets jealous about Serena's new man so that plotline will get spiced up a bit.
Jenny's story is getting a lot better, so I have high hopes for that.
You know, I kind of like the new hair. It's edgy and the girl is trying to find herself.
Serena is incredibly annoying.
Didn't mind the Nate & Jenny thing. Like someone else mentioned earlier, I dated guys that were a couple years older than me when I was her age. No one seemed to think anything of it back then. I thought I was so badass!
36LOVED IT! LOVED IT!LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT! LOVED IT!
-This is one of the best episode of the 2nd season! Loved the raciness of it all; that's what Gossip Girl books are all about anyways. I say keep pushing the envelope!
-And yeah, the look that Chuck gave to Dan looked like he wanted to disintegrate him on the spot. Chuck should of punched him!
-I also liked that I was not bored to death with the adult's plot line. So bored of Bart, Lilly, and Rufus.
-And hooray for no Vanessa plot! I needed a break from her. ABTW, how come Vanessa was not totally truthful about the C/B situation? She started with blackmailing Blair. Who ever uses that to keep an old bar anyways.
Loved this episode! I give it 9.5!
37xoxo!
seriously? Nate and Jenny? Gosh Nate is all over the place. First Blair, then Serena, then some Hampton skank, then Vanessa and now Jenny. He's basically dated or slept with most of the female cast within the last 2 seasons. What's up with that?
Also Serena and Dan are annoying. Get over it already gosh.
Blair and Chuck are so good. I liked that one tear on Blair's face at the end. haha.
38aaron + serena = no
39lil j + nate = hells no
Did anyone else catch the 70 year old dude in the purple track suit at the club/bar? What, the HELL?
P.S can someone just smack the hell out of Jenny's dumbass?
40Oh and my new obsession SKINS on BBC America, it's everything GG would be if it had complex characters and real writers. GG is good for the totally overboard, SKINS is just GOOD.
41Oh and my new obsession SKINS on BBC America, it's everything GG would be if it had complex characters and real writers. GG is good for the totally overboard, SKINS is just GOOD.
42I'm not gonna lie the opening was pretty entertaining. I'm glad the show doesn't make it look like they're characters are too good for that. BTW. I fantasize about Chuck Bass, mostly Ed, all the time. TMI? I don't know about Jenny's new look, i don't think her character ever has her own voice, her look isn't as unique and obvious as Blair's or Serena's. Dido on wanting a half naked Chace Crawford walk out of my bathroom. Who wouldn't want that? Yes! Dan should stop being a freaking pushover. He literally is unaware of himself. I mean c'mon. But I did like some of his advice for Blair. It was so funny when he questioned that it might have work when Blair reassured him that, "she knew" it didn't. Eww, but very funny. And Jenny is getting worse than Vanessa. How do you have an "in" with a designer and just ruin it for yourself because some model told you something. I mean yes, she had a right and reason to stand up for herself, but she should have waited a little to see if it continued. I thought the guy Max would be cool at first but then he got creepy. Blair trying to seduce Chuck! Now that was funny. She's trying to go for a new scent so of course, "what do you think?" turns into, "smells like desperation." OMG. That was funny. Oh and then Vanessa ruined things again, if she wouldn't have told Dan, Blair would have never questioned her feelings or Chuck's motives.
43Jenny?! Again she just needs to find herself instead of being tricked into things. I like that Nate cared about her, but the two of them together is way too random. Every week Nate has feelings for someone else, its like they don't know what to do with him, I would have gotit last season, but not now, they should have at least built it up.
Blair and Chuck again. This is the only storyline I care for. And it saddens me every week. So was that "someday for sure we can have something or we'll let it get there slowly" cause it definitely wasn't 'never'. Oh I hope if its someday it comes sooner.
Oh BTW. i'm a little jealous of Taylor Momsen because she got to make out with one of the hottest guys in the country.
44I also love, "someone loves chuck bass?" i mean he's not that bad.
I kind of like edgy Jenny! Aaron is an instant crush for me and I love Blair's lace dress!
I also laughed at Blair masterbating to Chuck.
45I think the initial scene was pretty awesome and funny.
I loved the Blair and Chuck scenes. But i don't believe it ended. It was just a way of keeping the games on and not trying to be a normal couple like any other.
Vanessa is just BORING. Like some have said, she has no point in this show. Her purpose is just to annoy everyone.
Nate keeps jumping from one girl to another. Like 2 episodes ago, he was so into Vanessa. Before, the duchess. Damn, one day he loved Serena and then he wanted to get back with Blair. And this thing with Jenny is kinda boring.
By the way, is so obvious Jenny is going to have a lot of problems from know on. She is just stupid.
And i have to say: i love when Dan and Blair get together. They are funny together. They should put them together more often.
46I loved the episode,
I just don't know how I feel about Jenny's "makeover".
It seemed really random to me.
I would've gotten it more if she had started hanging out with Agnes,
then changed her appearance.
The way they did it just seemed random to me.
Nate & Jenny? hmmm. Kinda cute, albeit surprising.
I loved that Dan was being nice to Blair
and trying to help her out.
And even though Blair & Chuck screwed with Vanessa,
it was kinda mean of Dan.
I didn't like how Serena reacted, though.
As for Aaron, I think he's totally cute.
His teeth are amazing! ha.
As always, I can't wait for next week.
47OMG Soap, I'm obsessed with Skins too!!! But it sucks because no one in the US has even heard of it! Buzz, you should start watching it! It's amazing!
48Oh! Jenny and Nate: EW!
49The movie "Love me if You Dare" reminded me of Chuck and Blair's little love game.
50Sad, but it just totally brought me to think about that movie.
Throughout the whole scene with Jenny, I was wondering if the photographer was going to run out of film or else memory on his camera.
