It's been a very Mad Men weekend around here. In addition to the second-season finale on Sunday night, about which I'll have a lot more to say in just a little while, Jon Hamm also stopped by Saturday Night Live for a guest-hosting gig that poked some fun at Mad Men and Hamm's character, Don Draper.
A bunch of Hamm's sketches were funny — I was pretty impressed with him overall — and it was great to see fellow Mad Men actors Elisabeth Moss and John Slattery pop up in one of the scenes. But hands-down, my favorite sketch of the night was "Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women," which would probably be a classic even if it weren't possibly Amy Poehler's last SNL appearance ever (congrats to her, by the way). To get some relationship advice from the slick womanizer himself, just read more.

Way classic... "Let's get me out of this skirt." Best line.
1This is wonderful! Thanks for making me smile, Buzz.
2I wish I had remembered who was hosting so I could have seen the whole thing.
3This was one of the funniest SNL's in a long time. Coldplay was GREAT.
4I watched the show with some friends that don't watch Mad Men and I looked like a total obsessed freak. I started cheering when John Slattery and Elisabeth Moss showed up in that one skit and was absolutely losing it in the Don Draper skit with Amy Poehler.
Liz4 - I totally agree, best line of the night. Or "drink and smoke CONSTANTLY".
5I loved him as host - it was so great seeing him in someting lighter! His James Mason was pretty right on and he handled himself very well in all the other skits. Plus, John and Elizabeth were great and Coldplay (woot!). A great episode.
6I kind of also liked the lines "Don't ask me. I'm just a Woman. I'm not allowed to own a watch." and "Blow people away anytime you say anything."
7Francoise, I have to agree with you for best line of the night. "Blow people away..." Too awesome...
8I once saw a man with shiny shoes..... LOLOLOL
9Dancing...
10Jon was so funny and adorable! Coldplay was amazing too! I never watch SNL [but I do watch Weekend Update on Thursday] because it lost it's appeal a long time ago; but I did watch for Jon and the only parts that made me laugh were where he was in it.

Awesome.
12i saw this and it was actually really funny - i think that they did a great job on the skit. sometimes they are lost on me but this one felt successful.
13LOOOOOOOVED this skit! So excited to finally have a link to it. Thanks for posting it.
I agree the skirt line was the best. Although, a little bit of me was expecting that it would be something about how she wants to have his baby or something and then show her belly.
14this episode was great! John Hamm was awesome ! yayay!
15I absolutely loved "Don Draper's Guide to Picking Up Women". It was one of the funniest skits I've seen. And I loved the two A-Holes.
Jon Hamm was amazing in SNL.
