As the country's economic situation gets bleaker, folks are cutting back on things, and for many this means no more going out to movies or even cutting out cable TV. So let's say the library's closed but you want to save some money and watch a movie in your DVD collection: Which one do you reach for?
A lot of my tried and true go-to titles are ones that manage to give me the warm and fuzzies every time, like Fried Green Tomatoes. Some are necessary for the days when I just want to zone out with something silly and fun, like Clueless, Ferris Bueller's Day Off or Old School. And if I'm looking for a long entertainment-filled night, I reach for some of my TV series on DVD, which usually means a marathon viewing of Arrested Development episodes (owning all three seasons means never getting tired of the same old episodes).
What about you? What DVD gets the most play in your home?

La Perla
Shiseido
Celine
Gilmore Girls. I'll never get tired of it, or the reruns on FAM channel.
1First seasons of Mad Men and Friday Night Lights, Amelie and Fargo.
2Ha! me to smileet, I was just about to write that! I love it! I have Season 6 and 7 on dvd, and I love watching the reruns on Family channel. My husband makes fun of my all the time for it!
3We download movies and we have over 300 so it's hard to say what I'd grab.
4Anything by Hayao Miyazaki: Princess Mononoke, Howl's Moving Castle, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service. They always bring a smile to my face!
5Movies: Amelie
6TV on DVD: Popular, 30 Rock, Arrested Development
Definitely Arrested Development (all three seasons), Extras (both seasons and the special), and for some reason the following movies: About a Boy, A Walk to Remember (I know...), and most any Pixar movie.
7Selena, the ending's sad but I love to sing along with the songs. Rent, P.S. I Love You (who wouldn't want to see Gerard Butler 20 times in a row?), and Saw movies because after watching them a few times they don't seem as nasty anymore.
8Harold and Maude is the movie I can go back to anytime and never get tired of.
9Love Actually or Mean Girls..depending on if I want the romance or the funny
10Also The Royal Tenenbaums! I kind of disliked it the first time I saw it, but love it more and more with each viewing.
11TV: Laverne and Shirley, Mary Tyler Moore, 1st season of Mad Men (love, love these shows)
Movies: Network, Desk Set, The Last Detail, Jaws, Amelie, Boogie Nights, The Exorcist, Michael Clayton, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training, Rocky.
These are my go to DVD's if there's blizzard and I trapped in my house.
12TV: Reba, Friends, Home Improvement, Planet Earth
Movies: Harry Potter, Pirates, Grandma's Boy, Great Outdoors, Bad Boys 2, Blue Collar, Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, Dane Cook, Jeff Dunham, Shrek 2, or any of my wrestling DVDs.
13My ultimate go-to is Kill Bill Vol.1. Nothing like watching a woman kick ass and take names with a samurai sword!
After that, Dodgeball gets a lot of play...it's funny enough to watch again for the hallmark one-liners.
14my go to DVD is either sweet home alabama, SATC the movie or SATC the show - any of the seasons.
15Arrested Development (1,2,&3), How I Met Your Mother (1 & 2), the Office (1, 2, & 3), Just Friends, Dead Man on Campus, Wedding Crashers, Lost in Translation, Borat, Airplane!....
I was in the middle of continuing the list, but want it to be made knwon that I do in fact have a life.
So I'm stopping my list there.
16Buffy!! Any season, it never gets old!! Especially the episodes with Andrew:)
17Right now we don't have cable or anything so we get tired of movies really fast. It's usually whatever my 2 year old wants to watch at the moment or for a day. So I've seen Dora, Cinderella and Milo and Otis but I love that move too much to get annoyed with it. When I can I like to watch Tommy Boy. I usually only watch it when I'm sick but sometimes I'll pull it out for a good laugh. I also love Family Guy.
18bluepuppybites, I hear you on watching whatever the child likes. We just saw Madagascar for the seven billionth time. Although for his 4th birthday he got the Charlie Brown holiday episodes with the Great Pumpkin, so we've been watching that a lot, and I can stand it.
When I actually get to choose, however, it's Love Actually, Sense and Sensibility, or Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind. If I need something a little lighter, Arrested Development or the Office- British or American!
19Love Actually and Little Miss Sunshine are the 2 movies I tend to go for the most. I watch Gilmore Girls on ABC Family everyday I've probably seen every ep a dozen times
20TV - Friends! I own all ten seasons. I also love watching Gilmore Girls, Full House, or Sex and the City.
Movies - It really depends on my mood...Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Beauty and the Beast, When Harry Met Sally, the Rocky Horror Picture Show...
21Devil Wears Prada, baby!
22Anybody who is looking for cheap entertainment in these troubled times, definately visit your local library. You can often find new releases there that you can check out for free. And the late fees are often a lot less painful than at your local blockbuster.
23Dawn of the Dead (the remake), 28 Days Later, Return of the Living Dead are all played at least once a week in our house. I bet I've seen Dawn of the Dead over 500 times. Ha! If I were watching alone, I'd probably grab Kill Bill, Family Guy, Shaun of the Dead or Season 1 of How I Met Your Mother. Once we buy Iron Man, that will be added to the list!
24mean girls!
25TV-dawsons creek, one tree hill, entourage and a lot more but i cant think of them right now......

29The Office... especially season 2!
30FRIENDS! all 10 seasons!
31One of my all time favorite dvds is Don Juan DeMarco. First of all, Johnny Depp - HELLO!!! And, Marlon Brando as the psychiatrist that treats him. What a wonderful role for him. You see him, at an older age, in a whole different light. I highly recommend this movie.
32I don't really like The Devil Wears Prada that much, but I can watch it again and again.
If I'm in the mood for some TV, then I could watch The Office and Friends for daaaaaays on end.
33AD for sure, and the BBC's Pride and Prejudice. Sweet Home Alabama and Wimbledon are some pretty good ones too (hmmm Paul Bettany).
Wish I had Labyrinth.
34TV-Buffy, Veronica Mars, SATC
35Movies-Clueless, Mean Girls, and classics like Some Like It Hot and Gone with the Wind!
my House, MD dvds are so worn out from me watching them so much, haha. as for actual movies i generally enjoy watching Zoolander and Little Miss Sunshine, as well as Mean Girls c: and when The Dark Knight comes out in december, it will most definitely be joining the 'most watched' list.
36movies: Walk The Line, Moulin Rouge!

)
TV: Friends
37Love Actually, any of the Pirate movies, Pride and Prejudice.

Movie wise it's Wedding Crashers, or whatever the kids want, I also have the Jurassic Park box set and can watch that over and over (although 1 & 3 are my favs)
39Buffy/Angel, Princess Bride, About a Boy and for some reason Overboard.
40I love Kurt Russell
Arrested Development.
41I tend to watch Love Actually or Notting Hill a lot.. As for tv shows, usually Buffy, I have the first 3 season
42I usually reach for my MASH, Family Guy, or Arrested Development DVDs. I usually grab a John Wayne, Godfather, or Pearl Jam concert DVD when I just wanna unwind with old favorites.
43In response to Phorrest99, love the movie Love Actually, what a good movie that was, yet typical Hugh Grant (love him).
44In response to vjj97. Love the Pirate movie as well. My favorite character that Johnny Depp has done is Captain Jack Sparrow. He is a sexy man in that role (not that he's not sexy anyway).
45In response to scotlandrulz. Walk The Line and Ray, more faves of mine. The sad part is there are so many to remember or choose.
46TV: I'm always watching re-runs of The Office and Big Bang Theory.
Movie: My go-to movies are Juno, Pride and Prejudice, and The Devil Wears Prada. Also, for some reason, I watch The Holiday, Becoming Jane, and Troy alot.
47Clueless, Legally Blonde, Wayne's World and Elf.
48I watch the Gilmore Girls a lot. As for movies, I usually watch Love Actually and While You Were Sleeping around Christmas. If I need to feel better I watch Zoolander or Anchorman, they always get me laughing.
HeidiMD -- I'm watching MASH right now. Love that show
.
49Depends on my mood:
Romantic: Love Actually, The Notebook
50Want to Cry: Steel Magnolias or The Notebook
Just Entertainment: GoodFellas, Braveheart
Comedy: Zoolander
If I'm sick: Disney's Robinhood (the cartoon version with a fox as Robin Hood).
TV: Sex and the City, Smallville, Veronica Mars, Family Guy, South Park
