For any Saw (or Saw 2 through 4) fans out there, this Thursday some AMC theaters are showing a Saw marathon just before the fifth movie is released this Friday. Will you check this out at a theater near you?
I know many people who like the Saw movies (or at least the first one) even if they're not huge fans of the horror genre itself. For some, the psychological aspect makes the movies more interesting than your average gory flick. Do you agree? Is Saw different than others in the genre?

The first one - even the trailer terrified me. As for the rest, they're becoming a horror cliche.
1Boring....passe. First one was good and that't it.
2I loved the first one, they have gotten increasing worse, but I will still watch the new one.
3i hate horror movies, that picture scared me when i got on the site.
4sadistic....???
5I LOVE the Saw movies and I can't wait for the new one to come out! I'll have to see if any theaters near me are showing the marathon...
6I'm going to the midnight showing of the fifth one...I must say, the fourth one sucked ass...I can't even remember what happened haha...this one and the 6th one better not suck though.
7i think the first was the best, then the second, and then they began to kinda go down from there. i'm still gonna go see the fifth just because i wanna know what happens, and apparently i won't believe how it ends, lol. i'm sure i will.
8I'm with you Srsly, I think the first one was fantastic and I keep seeing the predecessors in hopes that there'll be a big change and that great, unique aspect will be returned. I doubt it will be so with the fifth, but I'll still see it. And I HATE horror flicks b/c they are so cliche and filled with bad actors and even worse plots; Saw changed that for me, but it quickly passed when the second came out:)
9same here, berlin. most slasher films just seem mindless and just focused on gore, but...well, the first couple saw films were really psychological and actually made you think. the whole concept of 'what would YOU do in a situation like this?' comes up i think maybe five or six times throughout the movies, and even if the last few one's have a crappy plot, it still makes you think about your options in that situation. and it's also so real, because this messed upness could in reality happen, even if it is unlikely.
10i manage a dvd store, and i can't handle it when i see (especially this time of year) parents or grandparents buying their young children these movies! i don't know if it makes me a prude, but i can't handle that much violence but my personal opinion on horror movies (specifically saw-type ones) are that they're pushing the envelope a little too much. i would rather enjoy a horror movie that scared me smartly as opposed to grossing me out completely.
11I love well-done scary movies, and I'm a very open-minded person, but I find the Saw movies sooo repulsive! I wish they'd stop making them, already!
12Torture porn. No thanks.
13I saw (haha)1-3. I have not seen 4 and have no plans to see 5.
14Never seen them.
15American made horror movies are usually terrible.
16Crazy but true, I've never seen any of them. But then I've never been much of a horror person.
17I've only seen the first 2, and I like them both.
18I like them, but I haven't seen the last one and I probably won't see the next one. Some of them are good and some of them are stupid. I don't go out of my way to watch them, but if it is on television I probably would.
19Refer to the avatar. I am PUMPED about Saw 5. I think half of the people responding that they hate it probably haven't even seen it. I'd be willing to bet serious money.
20Usually I don't get riled up about other people hating movies that are obviously good, but come on! Saw is heads and shoulders (SEVERED heads and shoulders) above other horror movies. The plot lines are totally underrated and crazy good. The twist endings kick ass. The ONLY think I can see someone disliking about Saw is the subpar acting.
Other than that, I'm inclined to believe that A) You don't like gore. B) You've not seen the movie or C) You're too slow to follow the twists and turns.
(PS- Go, go Jigsaw!)
I love love love horror movies and Saw is not exception. The first one was amazing, I've seen it way too many times. The others since haven't been that great but worth a watch none the less. I'm excited for Saw 5. The whole mental aspect makes it so much better and creepier than other horror movies. Going to see the Saw movies has become part of my Halloween ritual.
21I've never seen any of them and don't plan on it. I'm not a big horror film and this strikes me as just the type of movie I wouldn't like
22I LOVED and own the first 3 movies. The 4th one was crap, I almost left the theater cause it was horrible. If I do decided to see the 5th one then I will wait until it comes onto DVD.
23First one was great because it was a twisted psychological thriller that kept you on your toes. All the other movies are just stretching it too damn much to see how disgustingly 'planned' the traps can be. Thumbs Down.
24I loved the first saw movie and the fourth but the other two were just okay. I don't think I'll be seeing the fifth though because now I'm tired of them all together.
25I saw the 1st one & really liked it.. I ended up seeing the 2nd & 3rd which were ok, but never saw the 4th one.. I doubt I'll see the 5th one either
26only seen the first one...starting watching the second one only to realize its just like the first one!!!
It really does creep me out seeing what they go through...but whats creepier is thinking "Man, someone actually thought of all thses crazy ideas to kill people...scary!"
27The first one scared the living crap out of me. I don't even think I finished it. I just got to the part where they were flashing the camera around the pitch black apartment and freaked out. Anymore, it's just torture porn. It kind of disturbs me to see how many people flock to movies like this and Hostel.
28Heidi, I'm not gonna lie. I love the gore. It would bother me except that the characters getting tortured (besides being fake) are bad people. When I see a 'rapist' having his eyes gauged out... I feel warm and fuzzy inside.
29All that aside, it's NOT torture porn. It has a really smart plot, which is what I love. I love that I have NO IDEA what to expect with Saw 5. None. It's not even worth guessing.
Ah...a great laxative from the looks of it...I don't do horror movies. Riding through the ghetto at night's scary enough if I want a real thrill. LOL
30That picture's freaking me out enough!
"Man, someone actually thought of all thses crazy ideas to kill people...scary!"
31Exactly!!! Do you know I'm terrified of Stephen King. I wouldn't go near him because of his books.
If it wasn't as gory and focused more on the psychology of it and suspense, I'd be all about it. But, it's more like torture porn now...
32Too gory for me!
33Every Saw Movie: First 30 minutes are all gore; Next hour is psychological dialogue and suspense; Last 30 minutes is all gore.
I agree with blondie829, if they kept the psychological/suspense aspect of it and lost the shock-value-gore, I'd be way more into them.
The third and fourth ones, I had to cover my eyes during the first and last 30 minutes because it gives me the heeby jeebies; but i still like the storyline!
34I've never seen a "Saw"...
35First one was good, second was okay. The rest were stupid and beyond gory.
36The first one was BY FAR the best. The second one was even OK, and I could see the "want" to make it. But the rest? Well, it's just become kind of like the Friday the 13th franchise to me. You know, when you sit back and go, "What is it now, Friday the 13th part 1000000000000"?
37I hate horror movies, but especially the ones that just go for the gore in order to scare. There are other movies that are way more psychologically disturbing, like silence of the lambs that didn't really need a ton of gore or jumpy moments.
38I hate the movies. I've never seen them but I remember the first trailer. That clown looking dude scares me so bad. I have grown to hate every trailer for the Saw movies. Even though the most recent trailer is not as terrifying as the others.
39I Love Scary Movies!
I've seen Saw 1-4 & will see 5 as well.
40I refuse to see them.
41I remember when the first one came out my brother borrowed it from some kid at school and I wouldn't watch it with him, and then he called me into his room during the part where the guy saws his leg off, and, usually i can handle a lot of gore, but I felt my stomach turn.
Then when the other ones came out I wanted to see them but never did, then my cousin let me borrow, I think the 3rd one and I was really grossed out.
So yeah.
42Love the Saw movies, I mean I really like horror flicks but Saw is different and there is so much to consider and think about it really messes with your head lol.
43I don't watch horror movies anymore.
Amityville Horror = life long
trauma. Never saw Saws.
44I saw the first one, I don't remember if I saw the second and/or third one, and I saw the fourth Saw! I want to see the fifth one since I saw the last one that came out...I wonder how many more they're going to make though.
45I will be seeing a double bill of Saw V and HSM3 this weekend!
46i avoid them at all costs. i don't think they're awful, on the contrary, i bet they're super good and would make me want to pee in my pants... sounds just too scarry for me.
47I can't even tell you how much I LOATHE these movies.
48totally ♥ them and cant wait to see 5 tomorrow
49I'm not a fan of gratuitous horror or violence in movies. The two Saw movies I've seen have been more psychological, suspenseful films. For fans of pure horror, which involves torture, rape, etc, I worry about. Young people especially have become desensitized to violence and that's not positive for anyone.
