It's time to say goodbye to Stars Hollow. The CW and Warner Bros announced today that "Gilmore Girls" is officially gone. The show's season finale — which will now be the series finale — will air May 15.
The show's demise after seven seasons had been rumored for a while; neither Lauren Graham nor Alexis Bledel had signed contracts to return. But the show got top honors in E!'s Save One Show poll, and recently, chances for a shortened eighth season of the show had been looking good. But TV Guide reported on Wednesday that negotiations had hit a standstill, with neither star signing a deal.
The statement from the network said the show "helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters." The statement also said the show would get "the sendoff it deserves" — and I hope that's true. "GG" fans, sound off: What will you miss about the show? Do you think it was time for it to go?

I will seriously miss this show.
1Hmm, I'll be sad to see it go. But assuming the rumours are true, it'll be a pretty happy series ending. So that's good enough for me.
2I'm going to miss this show for a lot of reasons. My best friend and I watch it religiously, we freaked out earlier this week when Logan went to Lorelai. We've laughed and cried and talk about Rory as if she was one of our best friends. Time wise in the story, its a good ending place. But man, I'm sad. I don't feel like the story is terribly unfinished, I just always thought it would continue. Whoever fills that Tuesday timeslot has big amazing shoes to fill.
3I would have liked a shortened 8th season. 4 episodes even, two episodes left is not long enough to sum up everything in the time it deserves. I am so sad to see this show go.
4I love this show - its been a favorite forever. But, with the creators already gone, I'm okay with saying this should be the last season. It's had its run & Rory's graduation should be the end. That's how it was always intended.
5I wish this had been decided much earlier so the audience could see L&L get married. They messed that storyline up so bad, but I was happy to see them getting back on track. Hopefully they don't mess with Rory and Logan!
6At least there are reruns on ABC Family!
7I loved this show like no other and will buy every single box season. I'm going to miss it soooo much! I think it's at a good place to end it though. I love all of the characters and I hope the actresses and actors move onto other great projects.
8Aaaw.I'll really miss this show.My mum and I would always watch the episodes together
But I do
agree that it might have been time for it to go. I just always assumed Luke and lorelai would be married by the series finale, and now that's not gonna happen.
9My husband has never been interested in Gilmore Girls, and I have always been happy to have him off by himself while I watch. He would tease me about watching my "girl" show. One Tuesday night he didn't get off the couch fast enough and he started watching with me. He finally jumped off the couch and pronounced, "It's witty and charming . . . feel my masculinity draining . . . must have sports injection." He ever watched Gilmore Girls again, but he also no longer teases me about it.
10i'm still a faithful viewer although the consistency in quality hasn't been great for a few seasons now. So with Rory graduating from Yale, now seems like a good time to end it. It's been lagging a bit the past few seasons and it's better to end it now, then let it drag on to a miserable death a la Dawson's Creek.
11aww I love this show! Well, I used to. I haven't watched it in forever, but used to religiously! Guess I'll have to catch the reruns or get the boxed sets!
12ps: Jess was my favorite
one of my fave shows. I've been watching it since i was 14 and now i'm going to turn 21. it's been a great inspiration. by the by love alexis's bangs in the last 2 or 3 seasons.
13SO sad. I adored this show. I know it wasn't as good after the writer change, but I still loved it. I am so sad!!!
14noo! i have to say, though devastated, i'm not suprised. ever since amy sherman-pallandino left the show has gone downhill. :'(, still!
15I was really looking forward to that shortened 8th season, there just doesn't seem to be enought time in the remaining 2 episode to wrap up everything; also, I've been a loyal fan since the beginning, so I really didn't want to let go quite yet. The comments all season about it not being as good since ASP left aren't really fair, she left the storyline in a tough spot & I think it's been a pretty good season considering.
16SO sad!!.. I've been watching it since I was 15!!
:
17I've also been watchin since I was 15! Dean was my favorite. Jess 2nd,.
18I have watched this show since day one. It will be sad to see it go but it is time. Ever since the original writers left the show got really lame
19aww Im going to miss it but I think it's time. I've been watching it since it started when i was in 7th grade. And I agree with jessunderwood... Dean was definetly my favorite too!
20The show definetly had a good run.
I cant stand Dean. I'm a jess girl all the way.
That seems like it'd be a really great poll - which rory boy do you love?
21no!!! so sad....this is may fav show....
xoxo Malzie
22Thank God. I can't take anymore Chicken Soup for the WB Soul.
23Does this mean the series finale will be readjusted to have a more closed ending then?
24I really hate open endings.
JessNess....agreed, the new writers really make it bland. I miss Lauren Graham's witty fast talking! I think they really dropped the ball splitting her and Luke, then having her and Chris marry, then divorce....blah! drama! But I love this show, and I am bummed it's almost over
25i don't like logan and rory. i actually haven't really seen a lot of episodes this seasons.
26At least it's getting the ending that few other great shows ever get. The fans, especially myself, will not be left hanging to wonder what happened to the show. That said, I wish we'd get a better Luke/Lorelai ending than is rumored to happen. But I'll miss the show I've been watching since I was 13.
27The writers dropped the ball when they did that whole Loreali and Rory fight where they did not talk for months. I think it did not work for their characters and was boring
28That incredibly sucks that Gilmore Girls is going to end soon. Oh well. I guess it was the show's time to go.
29I haven't even watched ten minutes of this show. Granted, I don't have WB out here in ho-dunk Indiana...
30I was devastated to hear the news today. I know it's been rumored to be the last season for a while now, but still... so sad to see it go.
31Last Tuesday when i was watching it i was thinking, this season will probably end with Lorelai joining Luke on his boat trip. I think that would be a cute series finale.
another day one fan here...i'm sad! but i missed most of this season due to school and i'll look forward to the reruns! i'll miss stars hollow
32so sad! i have watched this show religiously since it first began. i'm 3 episodes behind, but i'm trusting my tivo and i will enjoy catching up. i can't believe it will end... seriously, can not! i hated what the original writers did with it last season, but this season's stories have been so worth it.
33I really hate to hear this. This is one of the best written and acted shows on TV today. It is always smart and funny and I will truly miss it.
34i have a friend of a friend who writes for the show and he told us it'd be this last seasons, but i'm still so sad to hear it's finally true! i think this season has been below par...the dialogue is less snappy, rory's character is such a push-over now that she's tied to logan...i'm kind of looking forward to it to end. liking it has become a burden!
35I cant believe that!!!!! WOw.......I thought they would have one more year. That sucks!
36I loved the show at the begining but now they are just dragging it out. I'm kinda happy they are. They should have done what the OC did.. End it befor eit got too bad. haha
37I will only be ok with this show going off the air if Luke and Lorelai have a happy ending of their own, together. I've been waiting since day 1 for them to seal the deal and be together!
38nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo it cant end!
39Definately sad news. I hope they give it the proper ending it deserves. Not some half-assed "we threw it together at the last moment" thing.
40I'm so sad about this! I saw the rumors earlier this week and was hoping they weren't true. Like many people, I have really developed a bond with the characters unlike any other show that I have watched. It's #1 on my TIVO season pass for a reason! How in the world are they going to close out all the story lines in 2 episodes. Luke and Lorelai? Rory and Logan? Everyone seems to have some sort of ongoing storyline. It seems so rushed and I for one would hate for it to end in a way that disappoints fans and leaves us all hanging!
41NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I'm super sad- why are all the good shows leaving??????????????? Stupid CW.
42It's really sad. I've watched the show since I was eleven years old. I think the show started to go downhill when Rory left Yale and there was a Rory/Lorelai rift. Things got really boring after that. I also hate Logan. I get that a lot of people like Rory/Logan, but I find them repulsive and so cliche.
43No no no..say it isn't so. This show was my show. Lorelai my mentor...I am 26 with a 10 year old daughter. This show was about us. At least they should go out with some hope. A wedding, a baby announcement, a life goes on ending..something. I can't see Lorelai growing old and lonely as Rory takes off on her own life. She's such a Yummy Mummy.
44I am sad, but also kind of relieved. I loved the show, but didn't like the last two seasons that much. But I will still miss it very, very much. As for the Rory's boys poll, I am a Jess girl, too!

Of all the things I've lost, my mind I miss the most.
45im so bummed!
this was an amazing show...dialogue, storyline, acting...i thought it would last forever. its a book i never wanted to end!!
46Omigoodness, only 2 more new episodes????? I haven't liked this season really either..this show was so good b/c of the writing and it was a huge mistake to have someone other than Amy Sherman-Pallidino do it..you could see the huge differences in the writing and flow of the show instantly! I can't believe it's going to all end in 2 episodes. The one shining thing is no more watching that annoying character, April, who plays Luke's daughter. Man, she is annoying!!
47ok 1st the oc now gilmore girls?!?! wht is the tv network coming to? =[
48I'm so saddend! This is literally the only show I watch on tv! I was looking forward to the day Rory dumped Logan and got back with Jess.
My dreams are dashed.
49I'll miss everything about the show including Kirk's weirdo antics and Taylor's annoying bs!!!!!
