By now you may have viewed some of the preview clips of Katie Holmes's upcoming cameo on Eli Stone (if you haven't, click here), which starts with this week's episode, Tuesday night. Many folks are curious about how she'll do on the show since we haven't seen much of Katie in terms of actual movie or TV roles, but at the same time, we've seen a lot of Katie as an oft-paparazzied celebrity. Do you think Katie's fame will distract from her performance on Eli Stone? Can you see her as anyone but Katie Holmes?
Jennifer Aniston will appear soon on 30 Rock which will be intriguing, but again, is it possible to watch her in a TV cameo without thinking this is Jennifer Aniston? One time when I thought it worked out well was Brad Pitt's appearance on Friends, though I don't know what the difference was there.
My favorite thing is when well-known personalities play themselves in a TV show, as Oprah is going to do on 30 Rock. What do you think of TV cameos by big-name celebrities? Yea or nay?

It depends. All the build up can be a bit of a disappointment. But I will admit, I did get a little excited when I knew Brad Pitt was going to be on Friends. It didn't make me want to watch Friends because I was already a loyal viewer, it was just an added bonus.
1I like surprise cameos the best.
One more thing. I'm so not interested in these cameos at all. Although if George Clooney shows up on the last episode of ER that would be fantastic!!!
2i have to say that there's something good about having big names on shows. think about HIMYM - i NEVER EVER thought to watch the show until britney was on it, and then the ratings skyrocketed, and i really like it. i think that it's nice that all these bigger names are doing guest spots, cause it just makes things buzz a bit more.
3I think it's fuuun! I can't wait to see Jennifer Aniston on 30 Rock!!!!
4It doesn't matter to me if someone well known is on the show if I don't already watch the show Oprah isn't going to make me watch it!
5It all depends on who you can relate to. These are shows I never watch, but a few of the cameos interest me. They're all desperate marketing ploys that tend to work slightly.
6Is that Nicole Richie in the first photo?
7it depends very simply on whether or not the actor, acting, and role are good - for example, if Nicole Richie (terrible "actress", if you can call her a that) plays a really stupid and poorly written character, then the cameo will be awful. but if it's a good actor, like Brad Pitt (who I think gets way too much attention for his looks and not enough for his acting - have you seen Meet Joe Black?) and the role is well written, then the cameo is a fun little extra...
8as for Katie, I think she'll do a good job, as long as it's a good role, simply because she's a good actress - plus, she looks great in the role - I love that picture of her...
9It really depends on the actor. If it's someone I like, I will watch it. Or I will watch to see how well a person does, like Britney Spears or Nicole Richie, because they don't usually act. Sometimes the guest star cameos will make me tune in to watch the show regularly, as long as it doesn't conflict with a show I already love.
10Brad's acting was very poor when he guest starred on Friends, IMO. He is a good actor sometimes, but not on that show. I think he lacks comedic timing.
11I consider Brad Pitt on Friends a guest appearance, not a cameo.
12A cameo to me, is brief, not alot of lines, if any, like the real Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing, as an example.
I usually love a good cameo in movies, and saying, "hey, thats the real Hunter S. Thompson!" is all part of the fun.
They don't usually do a whole lot for me. Honestly, I find them kind of distracting.
13It depends on the plotline. However, I enjoy most of them!
14Also if it gets more viewers watching a worthy show, ie HIMYM than it's really worth it.
I think the question is, can I think of Katie Holmes as anyone but Joey?? Because I still think of her in dawson's creek terms
15What I've seen of KH in Eli Stone was painful to watch. She's no dancer, and she can't really sing either.
Maybe she should stick to being Mrs Crui$e, until her contract is up.
16Ha, her contract...nice, Manoukia.
Normally I think they just use them to get the person's name in the previews and it ends up being silly, but every once in a while it really works. I actually really liked Nicole on Chuck last night.
17Cant wait for Katie on Eli Stone and Aniston on 30 Rock!
18My favorite would be Clooney's top secret return on ER. Pitt was ok on Friends but still memorable. Looking forward to Katie Holmes..she looks hot and is one riveting versatile actress.
It will be a challenge though because I dont even like the show and from what I read the show is really dying in ratings.
