El Cantante is purportedly about Latin singer Hector Lavoe (Marc Anthony), but by the looks of this trailer, it's Jennifer Lopez doing all the talking, sassing, and dancing. She pretty much only lets Marc Anthony do a little singing.
Maybe that's the point — maybe "El Cantante" was all about his woman. But it kinda seems that JLo wanted to dominate this film, so she did. And frankly, I'm not sure she'll be able to carry this on her own, try as she might... and she tries mightily.

I liked her better as a fly girl on In Living Color
1She seems (and sounds) a bit like a hoochie mama in this
2Her acting and music careers seem like such a fluke, I mean come on she's not really talented in either fields, so she should really give up while she's ahead. Maybe she can stick to improving her fashion line now, which occasionally puts out a few good garments (mainly through Sweetface).
3I loved her in Selena but nothing else. lol And I can't believe that was a choice. It's like you read my mind pop.
4she's a great actress, she was great in Selena, Out of sight, U-turn and Angel eyes, i think she always do goo in Drama but not Romatic comedy that's not for her and since she started her music carrer it seem that they didn't propose her interesting role,but now she's producing her own movies.
5And she's doing all the talking in this trailer because it's how it was between Puchi and Hector Lavoe she was controling his carrer.
I am happy that she is not in the news so much. Her talent just did not match up with the amount of publicity buzz she used to get.
Maybe now that she is not so much publicized, it will give the opportunity for you to like her rather than her being forced on you by the news reporters and PR agents.
Before she was too manufactured. However, it did make her rich.

15I love her acting. I have enjoyed each one of her movies (except Giggy). She also sings ok in Spanish. You can tell that the mvie will be good. I can hardly wait.
16Jennifer won me over a few years ago with Maid in Manhattan and I've loved her ever since...I think she is doing a good job at portraying the character here.
