Since the vice presidential debate wiped out The Office last night, I had to find some other way to talk about Jim and Pam, right? Ha. But seriously, after last week's big news, I got to thinking about TV's great "someday, maybe" or on-again, off-again couples and wondering which other ones I'd like to see get together.
Now that Meredith and Derek are finally together on Grey's Anatomy, I suppose I'm rooting for Alex and Izzie to have a real relationship (once he stops being such a jerk, that is). And deep down, I always thought Ugly Betty's Henry and Betty were probably meant for each other, Gio interference and soul-searching road trips aside.
What about you? Which potential couples do you think should be together? And are there any from the past that you wish had ended up that way?

House and Cuddy. I still think they'll end up together someday. It'll be twisted and subversive and not at all romantic, but it'll be HOT.
1Alex and Izzie definitely. Even though he acts like a jerk sometimes, I feel like they should really be together. Last week I would've said Betty and Gio too, but now I'm not sure.
2I just realized - now that Jim and Pam are together, it's all about Michael and Holly. Michael and Holly are the new Jim and Pam.
3(I still think that Jim and Pam aren't destined for eternal happiness, though.)
4The office writers should let Jim and Pam get together and STAY together. I am over that whole fiasco or breaking up and getting back together. I WANT DWIGHT AND ANGELA TOGETHER!

7My favorites from the past are (1) Neils and Daphne from Fraiser (LOVED when they finally got together), (2) Mulder and Scully from the X-files, and, of course, (3) Ross and Rachel. If they break up Jim and Pam I think Office fans will revolt.

9i think that depending on the show - when couples get together - the tension is gone and the show fails. like in 'who's the boss' - once angela and tony got together the show tanked.
i wish that in the new 90210, brenda and dylan would actually get together cause that works for me - it's old school..but they are both off the show now so who knows.
otherwise, i think that on Lipstick jungle i want victory and joe to get back together - they are cute together and she deserves her knight in shining armor.

When it first started, I said to my friends:"oh no, I hope this flirting thing with Cuddy won't get too far just yet." I wanted to learn more about House's character, before he would have any kind of romance. Now...years later..bring it on already!!!!!!!
12I think this is the season for it, Leene. That new guy, Lucas, looks like he's going to be a rival to House for Cuddy's affections, but I think it's finally going to happen!

14The writers dragged "Ross n Rachel" on way too long, so no one cared about it in the end ... you could add Sam and Diane from Cheers (those old enough to remember!) or Carrie and Big -- it was great to see how the movie resolved it after the fairy-tale ending of the series!
the best couple on television right now -- Jim and Pam -- are hopefully going to stay together, even if bumps (funny, hysterical, real-ish life ones) happen along the way ... I think the Office writers are creative enough (and actually some are happily married! yay!) that they can mine enough material to keep them going for the duration .. Dwangela and Michael/Holly will be super fun to watch too this season!
as for MerDer, it's hard to see how they'll evolve together because Shonda Rhimes is so anti-relationship (if I hear her say "there's no happily-ever-after" one more time I'm gonna lose it) .. she'll find ways (illogical, nonsensical, wholly unrealistic) to tear them apart, after having already killed off all the things that made them great .. it's totally sad what she's done, and hard to see a way back
15House and Wilson. They have great chemistry together.
Niki/Jessica/Tracy and Nathan on Heroes. Ali Larter and Adrian Pasdar have such insane chemistry that it doesn't matter what character Ali plays. Granted, Adrian could have hot chemistry with a toaster, but those two characters together would make magic.
Gio and Betty. Henry used to be that guy, but I do think Betty and Gio connected a lot more.
I remember being a staunch Monica and Chandler supporter ever since season 1 of Friends. I was so happy when they got together.

but i remember when Danny Messer and Lindsay Monroe got together, i thought i'm gonna break the ceiling with my head.
19Gilmore Girls! I really liked Alexis with Milo - the whole good girl/bad boy thing was pretty hot.
20I think Betty needs to be with Henry? Until that dumb storyline where Henry had knocked up Charlie before he got with Betty, everyone was rooting for him it seemed. I also want Susan & Mike on Desperate Housewives to be together. I wish Izzie and Denny could be together on Grey's Anatomy, but Denny's dead so I can't see that happening. I can't stand Alex. There aren't any other couples that I'm invested in anymore because 1.) the show has gone off the air or (2.) one of them has died (like Denny). I was a huge fan of Charlie and Claire on Lost, but Charlie died and Claire has disappeared so that pretty much ended one of my favorite couples ever.
I was also a HUGE fan of Ross & Rachel on Friends, but I was disappointed that they brought them together so quickly, and then they didn't reunite until like the last 10 minutes of the finale. F*cking ridiculous.
I also really liked Lorelai and Christopher (Rory's dad) on Gilmore Girls, but I know a lot of fans would have a sh*tfest if they ended up together. I liked Luke, but I saw his relationship with Lorelai as more "friendly." It creeped me out when I saw her half-naked in his bed. When Lor was with Chris, on the other hand, it seemed like they just oozed romantic and sexual chemistry. I also wanted Rory to end up with Dean or Jess at the end of the show, instead of choosing to be by herself (or with Logan). I hated Logan.

Friends: the ross and rachel thing dragged on for WAY too long, especially since throughout all the seasons it was evident to viewers that they were gonna end up together in the end! (still love them anyway) But I was so happy about Monica and Chandler!
Gossip Girl: who wants to take bets on how long it takes for serena and dan to get back together again? or blair and chuck?
How i met your mother: i dont know how i feel about barney and robin...especially with robin's past with ted (i really loved them together even though you know they dont end up together in the end!)
it is cute to see what a great guy barney is while hes in love with robin!

gilmore girls: ah it makes me so so mad that neither of them ended up with anyone in the end! i would have been happy with ANY of the guys! like i would have been happy if lorelei had ended up with christopher OR luke, i really loved her with both! and rory! not even dean or jess? i wouldve even been fine with logan!

And, regarding your comment on the Henry Betty relationship. I wouldn´t really call it "Gio interference" what made their relationship deteriorate. Its more like Henry´s inability to properly use birth control methods and the interference of his ex-girlfriend Charlie, wouldn´t you think?

I don't really like the Meredith/Derek combo. I think they inspire the worst in each other and their relationship is boring.
I did like Callie and George. In the beginning before he spontaneously decided he like Izzie.
