As Eagle Eye approaches, I got to thinking that the only thing young Shia LaBeouf has been up to since hitting the big time has been action movies. The former Even Stevens cutie got a huge break in the Summer blockbuster Transformers, acted alongside film legends in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, moved on to Eagle Eye, and has been working on the second Transformers movie all Summer.

If there are things going "boom!" Shia's there. But maybe he should try another drama (like A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints) or something in which he's not sweating and running from enemies. What do you think? Do you like him in action flicks and should he stick with them?

I really enjoyed him in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints - I think that he would do well to incorporate more roles like that! In Transformers, he was fun & enjoyable, but I almost felt like that role could have been played by many other young actors. I like Shia, and I think that he should play more characters that really showcase his acting ability.
1he's young and taking advantage of these roles while he can. i mean come on, he was probably obsessed with transformers when he was a little kid. starring in the movie would be a dream come true for lots of guys i know! i think as long as this isn't ALL he does, he'll be fine. he's a talented actor and picks good roles.
2His performance in "A Guide to Recognizing your Saints" was wonderful. I'd love to him in more no action films... But I will admit he's great in action and I don't think that takes away from his acting capabilities...
3i would like to see him in a comedy. he was so funny on even stevens.
4see i feel like he's been in all the same type of movies and he really doesn't do anything for me so i don't think that i care much either way if he takes different roles or not. i think that it would help directors see him more as a budding star rather than an action star - but he's still young so anything could happen.
5He's definitely being typecast... Shia would be an excellent leading love interest in a comedy. Like the one on Even Stevens like angeline...said.
6He's quirky and uncomfortable. I'm thinking an Andrew McCarthy in 'Pretty in Pink' type movie. Or Eric Stoltz in 'Some kind of wonderful' character. Once he's made the studios enough money he'll get to be more choosy about what he wants to do.
Don't forget that New York I Love You is coming out and from the film festival Shia has had rave reviews for his segment with Julie Christie and John Hurt. They called him hauntingly romantic.
He is already pretty much committed to 2 more action films.. Dark Fields which is a heavy violent drama about a drug that makes you smarter and more personable until the violent blackout side effects begin and Y:The Last Man which will be three films based on the comic book series where Shia is the last man on Earth that is now run by women..some who want him some who want to kill him.
After he does those two then he is free to do more indy stuff like maybe the Cage bio pic under his own production company.
7How about E, none of the above
.
8I think he's a great actor and doesn't really get to shine in the action flicks.
In fact, even though I adore him as an actor, I've only seen one of his "action" roles.
I mean, look at all our old action stars - Arnold, Stallone...you don't have to be a great actor to be an action star. I think Shia has so much more talent & potential than to be typecast in these roles.
9PS - I forgot to add....
Shia's also said that he acts for the $$$,
10so maybe he doesn't really care and he's going for what pays him the best
I would like to see him in more comedy roles.
11He was great on Even Stevens, I don't know why he doesn't do more comedy...I guess he didn't want to be typecast as a comedic actor because he was known for being "that kid from Even Stevens" for a long time.
12yep!! it will be cool to see him in another kind of movie
13I'm getting bored of him. I'll probably be really bored of him after Eagle Eye.
14Go for it, young guy. Potential is rare.
15I don't want him to stop doing action movies, but I think maybe a cute rom-com would be good!
