I have been waiting anxiously to see what a movie version of Richard Yates's classic novel, Revolutionary Road, might look like. Back when the casting news (a Titanic reunion for Winslet and DiCaprio) first appeared, we hadn't heard of a TV show called Mad Men and we didn't have a drama set in this time period unfolding — complete with spectacular costume and set design — in our homes Sunday after Sunday. So now that we have this film, all about the repression and the ennui of living in suburbia during this era, will audiences be as interested if it's not about the Drapers?
Perhaps the cast and the director (Winslet's husband, Sam Mendes, who directed another movie about suburban frustration, American Beauty) will help to lure people in. I personally think everyone should read the novel first, as it quickly became one of my favorite books of all time. The trailer shows pretty much all you need to know about the story, so to check it out, read more.

Not sure, it kind of looks boring/depressing. I'll probably check it out though as I loooooove Kate Winslet and I love the clothing of that time.
1Why does everything have to be compared to Mad Men??
2Looking forward to seeing how the book translates to film. The casting and costuming are perfect. Thanks for selecting the novel for an earlier Book Club, Buzz. Now that I've read the book, I'm even more eager to see the movie.
3They're similar. Watching this trailer made me think immediately of Mad Men, so I made the comparison.
4Not a very good trailer, but I'll still probably see this anyway.
5I've never seen Mad Men, so I don't have a comparison, but I definitely want to see this, even if only to see Kate Winslet, whom I love!
6i'm having a hard time getting into this movie though - regardless of the reunion of the titantic duo. we'll see what everyone says as we hear more about the movie. i want to like it and i want to have the feeling that i HAVE to see it but lately leo has been rubbing me the wrong way..
7I've never seen Mad Men, so the comparison is lost on me - but I will definitely see this movie! The cast is superb!
8I've only seen a few episodes of Mad Men so far, but RR seems so much heavier. The book, one of my favorites, is a real joy-sapper, and this won't be a super-fun movie to see.
9(With that said, I'll still be among the first to see it!)
10This looks good and I love Kate Winslet.
11Mad Men has very heavy, deep themes and plotlines. It just takes a while for them to play out and some episodes are lighter than others. They need to be or it would be too hard to watch.
I think Revolutionary Road will be very similar and since I really like Mad Med and LOVE Leo and Kate Winslet, I will definitely be seeing it.
12hey another steamy car sex scene with dicaprio and winslet lol =)
13Winslet and DiCaprio are both amazing at their craft. It was hard for me to swallow their chemistry in Titanic, I believe it will be the same in RR.
14I can't say I'm really impressed by the trailer, with all the buzz it's getting, but I'll definitely see it. It looks visually gorgeous, though.
15i think it will be amazing and reflect the times we are currently going through as a nation: discontent with a life forced upon us.
16sooo seeing this
17btw i meant that, lol
18its not boring...
i think its not sensible to say that its boring without even watching it.
I think you should watch it first b4 judging!
