Welcome back, 90210 fans! What did you think of last night's episode? I have mixed feelings myself. There were moments last night when I was totally drawn in, and other times when I just cringed.

I was also confused by certain plot points. Such as: Why is Ryan the teacher destroying his relationship with Kelly before they even have a relationship? And why is Annie wound up so tight about guys? She just moved to this new Zip code. I feel like she should take a breath and survey the land. Oh, and was it weird that this episode was completely not racy? There was absolutely nothing illicit going on at all.
Thumbs up, though, to the return of Grandma Tabitha and the revealed identity of Kelly's son's dad! Ready to chat about it? Just read more.
- I still get a kick out of Brenda and Kelly talking about the old 90210 characters, like when they have coffee and bring up Donna and her baby.
- Speaking of Brenda — when she meets Kelly in the school cafeteria for coffee, she reminisces she can still hear, "Donna Martin graduates! Donna Martin graduates!"
- The writers gave Tabitha some nutty lines last night, including one about acting being breathing from your rear end and reaching the skies . . . or something?
- How'd you like Naomi's pouty family Christmas card photo shoot? Is it just me, or were her hair and dress totally '80s in that scene?
- Even though Dixon has a really straightforward story right now, I still can't help but like him. Same with Silver. Maybe it's because both actors know how to handle this kind of soapy material without overacting. Regardless, they are easy to watch and relate to, and their little blossoming relationship is so far the most authentic to me.
- Which brings me to Annie, who is extremely boy crazy. She dumps Ty for Ethan why, again? And goes back to Ty because she realizes . . . Ethan doesn't like her? And she does it with snickerdoodles? Kinda hard to root for this one.
- Then there's Ryan, who is constantly worried about Kelly's ex and pumps Brenda for the information. Why is he so worried when they've hardly been on one date? I'm so confused.
- And the daddy is . . . drum roll please . . . Dylan McKay! Who's apparently a "do-gooder" now doing charity across the globe. Hooray for the end of that mystery, and hopefully for the end of awkward pronouns.
- Did you enjoy Naomi's soft side with Ethan's brother? I thought that was kind of a cheesy moment.
- Ack! Grandma Tabitha singing! I was scared, and then in heaven, and then scared again. So hilarious, even though I'm not totally positive it was supposed to be. Oh and raise your hand if you're already tired of that Spring Awakening song. Maybe they couldn't get the rights to any others?
- Nat is still so cute. I loved his line about a "good egg" from the same high school who used work there. Sigh — Brandon. Loved him.

So Ethan and Naomi are going to take their relationship "day by day," Silver and Dixon will go on a date, and Annie got Ty back. We also learned a little bit more about why Silver hates Naomi so much, and about Naomi's Malibu beach house where her father's lover is now moving in. That was about it — kind of meh. I think next week is going to really steam up, but I feel like this show needs more SoCal in it or something. Maybe a pool party or more beaches.
What did you think about the episode? So far so good for the show, or do you hope it improves? Who are your favorite characters so far?

I already knew it was dylan because at the end of last week's episode, they showed a clip for this week's and that included brenda telling kelly she wasnt over dylan.
1and i find this teacher guy who likes kelly so annoying. i thought he was cute at first... i donno if he's not a great actor or its just the character being annoying.
I keep watching this show but i wouldnt be devestated if i had to stop for whatever reason.
they should bring Dylan on.
Snickerdoodles? A high school girl who bakes? Not loving it.

3I thought this episode was kinda meh. I still can't stand most of the characters, especially Naomi and Ethan, because their acting is terrible and I don't really see any charisma coming from them. Annie is kinda annoying too, but at least it seems like she is trying. I'm getting really sick of the song "Mama Who Bore Me" from Spring Awakening too, but I guess they couldn't get rights to other songs or the CW wouldn't allow them to use the other songs. Some of them are quite explicit, like "The B*tch of Living" and "Totally F**ked." Side note: I just saw the musical last week in SF and the music was sooo good, but definitely not appropriate for high school kids! Anyway, I think that teacher, Mr. Matthews, is trying way too hard! Why does he care so much about Kelly already and getting to know her son? And I don't think that Dylan should've been the father, I think Dylan was better with Brenda and Kelly was better with Brandon or Steve.
And yes, Naomi's clothes were so '80s.
4P.S. I like Dixon and Silver together too.
5This show is blah, but I watch anyway, hoping it will start getting better.
6That "Spring Awakening" song is SOOOO annoying, esp since the first time you hear it, it gets stuck in your head for the rest of the night
I've hated both Naomi and Ethan since the beginning, but by the end of this episode, I was beginning to think they're kinda cute together..
Annie is so boy crazy, she needs to chill, but then again it is high school and she has much to learn.
All in all, this show just makes me wish they would create 90210 DVDs because I'd much rather re-watch every single episode than this innocent 8pm slot filler.
Buzz, I wish you would focus on the real reason I tune into Tuesday night TV: GREEK. I looooved last night's ep!!
californiagirl - I am so with you on that. Silver and Dixon are really the only romance I am interested in seeing on the show..
7I'm not 100% convinced that it's Dylan's. It seems too obvious and anti-climatic. Plus if you rewatch the scene bw kelly nad brenda again it seems they are talking about three people: Ryan, Brandon, AND dylan. Like she says she wants to love Brandon (the fater of her child) but she can't bc she is still in love with Dylan.

Am I the only one who semi interpreted it that way??? OK, also- Was Ethan's house the old Casa Walsh!??!!
8I absolutely don't understand why Annie is so boy crazy. Does she not have any FRIENDS!? The cast needs to interact TOGETHER more, in my opinion.
9i really try to like this show..but its making it very hard.
10I like Silver & Kelly thats it!
I wanted Sammy to be Brandons
I really enjoy watching this show, actually, much more than I anticipated.
My favorite character is DEFINITELY Silver, she is so cool - and I like her style.
11And ! That young teacher is SO damn HOT!! I don´t care if his character is a little ahead of the relationship - he is fine!!!
12the guy who play the teacher is Hot ! sorry it's all i have to say.
13well maybe not, i thought that the episode was pretty good, the last two were much better than the double pilot, it's getting much better, some character like the blond curly girl annoys me, her acting is irritating. but i like the rest of the cast.
14I knew the kid was Dylans, read it somewhere when the show was announced. But I think it's far more believable that Kelly is hung up on Brandon instead of Dylan.
15Silver is def the best part of the show. Especially if she and Dixon start dating. He's adorable.
So is Ryan.
Oh and love Kelly.
16It's hard for me to get behind a teenage character who is supposed to be newly 16, but looks 35. Naomi makes all of the other unrealistically old looking teens on TV seem like infants. Hell, she looks older than her mom in some scenes. Plus, her acting is rather horrid.
I'm taking the snickerdoodles as a shoutout to Veronica Mars. Otherwise, it's just lame.
Silver is awesome and I really want an appearance by David. Or at least a mention.
17i think that this week's was better than last week's and the ratings are reflecting it since they were up vs. the 2nd episode.
there's so much that they could do with the show - yet you don't know what they are going to be able to do since there are limitations w/ contracts and all.
Brenda - she's only signed on for 2 more episodes right? so how are they going to develop things with her. she was BARELY in 2 of them so far..but oh well. i kind of wanted to get more into how she and kelly were, relative to the Dylan bomb that was just dropped.
Kelly - well at least we all know what we expected - that Sammy's dad is Dylan and that she's still harboring feelings for him. maybe that leaves the door open for him to come back?
i like how the characters are developing though - and there's a bit more complexity - so that has staying power i think.
18I'm kinda sad that Brenda going to be gone soon.
I agree that Annie dumping Ty for Ethan was lame and hard to belive, why would she do that? The guy flew her to San Francisco and back for dinner and she couses the one that kisses her once?
I understand why Ryan is so intrestd in Kelly's relationship with Dylan, I think he's just trying to see what he would be getting himself into if he dates her. I'll admit it dose seem a little premature, but better to know ahead of time than to be smack in the middle and find out it's bad situation. And although he is a tacher, he has never had any kids of his own, I think it might be singaling how unprepaired he may be for a realationship with Kelly.
Dylan McKay, a "do-gooder" there seems to be alot unexplained there...
I agree, "Mama Who Bore Me" it getting anoying and boring!
19Completely agree with Buzz's comments regarding Dixon and Silver.
I can't stand Annie and yes I'm already sick of that one song!
I also love all the references to the original series/characters!
Lastly: I don't think it's Dylan's baby. That conversation was too all over the place. It's quite possible that there were two different "he's".
20Naomi's cry face is perhaps the scariest thing on television.
21I was all prepared for it to be Dylan until they started talking about do-gooders and then I thought it might be Brandon, since he's always been a globe-trotting goody goody. I would totally love it if they brought Dylan back, though.
Also, where do they find so many one-piece denim ensembles for Naomi? She looked like a demented child prostitute in that lace-up thing.
22juliex0x0, the DVD's are out, seasons 1-5. I know because I own them. LMAO
I liked the episode. I still have to watch the first 20 minutes, because I was watching DVD's of the OLD show and lost track of time. I came in during the "sweet" moment between Naomi and Ethan's brother. Cheesy yes, but I thought it was sweet. I alter between loving Naomi and hating her. She's the "kelly". The girl who seems to have everything, but who's home life is absolutely horrid. So, now we know that Dixon = Brandon, Annie = Brenda, Naomi = Kelly. Who are Silver and Ethan? Ethan CAN'T be the Dylan, he's not a bad boy. And if Silver is supposed to be the Donna, that makes no sense. So maybe there are TWO Donna's? Or Naomi is Donna and Silver is Kelly? Just speculation of course, but it's fun to try and figure out.
23I have the old DVDs too! How painful is it to watch the bad clothing and after-school special stuff from the first couple of seasons?
24Anyone else happy that most of the outifits that silver and annie wore covered their bony bodies up?
25Painful doesn't BEGIN to describe it. During the spring dance episode in particular. Brenda and Kelly's matching dresses, Brenda telling Dylan "How many girls get to make love for the first time with a guy they love?" Steve's whole crying jag about his birthday. I'm tellin' ya. CHEEEEESE! But I loved every single minute of it! LMAO
26speaking of cheese, I just finished the chrsitmas episode where steve goes to look for his mom and brenda invites a bum in off the street.
27Kudos to Rob Thomas for the Veronica Mars snickerdoodles reference....nice addition. *Sigh* I miss my VMars...anyway - I am on a tangent. I only like Dixon and Silver...everyone else annoys me. That's its.
28I am liking the show so far. It does get a little bit "predictable" at times. But all around...I am liking it. I will definitely keep watching. I am LOVING Dylan being Sam's daddy too. Hoping to get a Luke Perry guest spot!
29I like Silver and Dixon
30I totally believe it is Dylan's baby...for all you that think that there is still a twist going on and it's Brandon's think about this...
Kelly told Ryan(?)--the other teacher that likes her--that the dad is off doing charity.. blahzayblah. Well when Ryan talks to Brenda and tells her about the charity thing, Brenda seems a little put off by that statement...and then when she confronts Kelly she tells her to get her story straight... seems to me like Kelly is making Dylan sound better than he is to Ryan so he doesn't think there's all this drama in her life.
Silver and Dixon are so adorable...I like how they aren't rushing their relationship. Too cute!!
Tabitha is effin hilarious! She may be one of my faves this seris.
Naomi's mom is stupid...period. How could she even think it was just a "fling"? It never is! && She hasn't been very sensitive to Naomi during all of this...rude.
*You can catch up on oooold episodes on the soapnet channel. Its quite hilarious to see all the crazy fashion and hair styles and cheesy lines.. but you can't help but love every minute of it.
31I think I'm about at the Christmas episode too. I just love the long shots that they always seemed to show of West Bev, with people randomly dancing around in Hammer pants on the lawn, and all the spandex bike shorts! Priceless.
32Who didn't have kids dancing around the lawn in hammer pants listening to boom boxes?
33This show is ok. I watch it because having the 90210 title just brings back memories of the original and watching that one with my sister.
I do love Dixon and Silver...as a couple and as characters. They seem like they have a bit more depth to them or more of a back story, I guess.
I love the grandmother, too! Every episode needs her.
I figured Dylan was the father of Kelly's son. He was really the only other choice besides Steve since Kelly had mentioned in an episode that the father was someone she dated in high school (she never dated Brandon in hs) and that there was a lot of history. Only leaves Dylan.
BTW did anyone else notice that the front door and the inside of Ethan's house kind of looked like the Walsh's? Maybe I'm the only one or maybe it really didn't look similar....hahaha.
34Boston, I mentioned that earlier today! I definetly think they used the old walsh house.
35actually, I said, " Am I the only one who semi interpreted it that way??? OK, also- Was Ethan's house the old Casa Walsh!??!!" hence why I think it was buried.
36tls: "Also, where do they find so many one-piece denim ensembles for Naomi? She looked like a demented child prostitute in that lace-up thing."
I almost cracked a rib laughing (in dismay because it's true) over this!
37@ LaurenG22: Oh ok! Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it! haha. Sorry I missed that you had already mentioned that, though.
38This episode was a stinker. It is most probably due to the fact that Navid wasn't in it. hahha
39I can't get Mamma Who Bore Me out of my head!
Must listen to something else.
I want to be behind Silver & Dixon, but I just don't see the chemistry between them.
40Ugh, they just HAD to make Dylan the father. BOO! And "Spring Awakening" is awesome- but I really don't want to hear those girls sing "Mamma Who Bore Me" again!
41Loved seeing the old Walsh house.
Thought Naomi's dress in the first scene (the 80s-ish one) was a play on Kelly and Brenda's prom dresses in the old show. Black with little white bows instead of black with one huge white bow. LOVED the little inside joke.
42i just read that the guy who plays the teacher is 24 years old, damn i though he was much older.
43I loved the little sneaky stuff the writers put in about the old 90210. That is reason enough to watch it for me.
Plus, Jennie Garth recently said that they are seeing how old fans react to the old characters and see
if it is worth getting more older cast members. HELLO, YES!!!!
44johnsonkm20, i see no chemistry between Dixon and Silver too. Maybe because i love Silver and dont like at all Dixon. But these two together have no chemistry, it's not romantic and it's not even hot between them. I wish they would find another guy for her.
45johnsonkm20, i see no chemistry between Dixon and Silver too. Maybe because i love Silver and dont like at all Dixon. But these two together have no chemistry, it's not romantic and it's not even hot between them. I wish they would find another guy for her.
46ugh i couldn't get through this episode. i am not liking this show. i watched the pilot and managed to get thru it. this episode was tough. i ended up surfing about 15 minutes in..i think i'm gonna hang it up...
47I've only just seen this, my laptop has hated me this week.....
48I love this show, yes it's boring at times, and yes they are way TOO skinny but I can't help but love it. I can't decide if my crush on Ty is bigger than my crush on Ryan or the other way around.....In last weeks preview I'm sure there was a scene of Ty & Annie kissing & her dad catches her, did I miss that somehow? Anyway yes I did like this episode, Dixon & Silver FTW!!!!
