In the latest episode of SNL, Tina Fey's Sarah Palin and Amy Poehler's Hillary Clinton were the highlight of the show for me by far. For the rest of the episode, I waited for more great political stuff, but only got some way-too-long sketch about pizza that put me to sleep. It made me wonder if the only thing the show has going for it nowadays is the political content. What do you think?

Tina Fey was amazing! Seriously, the only reason I watch any more is for the political sketches. Can't wait for more of Tina Fey's Palin!
1It's eerie how much Tina Fey looks like Palin.
2the political sketches are good, but i personally prefer the digital shorts (i.e. dick in a box, lazy sunday, natalie portman's gangsta rap) those are just priceless to me
3I haven't watched SNL in years. I just watch the Digital Shorts that Samberg does with the Lonely Island guys.
4This sketch was right on the money! I couldn't stop laughing. I stopped watching SNL a while ago, but I tuned into this via YouTube :]
5The political sketches are the only ones that work because they are the only ones with direction. The other ones seem so pointless.
6The writing on SNL is awful. The political sketches are the only ones worth watching anymore. I loved the Tina Fey skit...and then didn't laugh again the whole show.
7yes and this one the only great Skit that night.
8It's the digital shorts that interest me. The political sketches are pretty good, too. But the regular sketches should always be the meat and potatoes of SNL. It's just a shame that lately they've been overcooked and dull.
They really need to figure out some funny recurring characters and soon.
9weekend update is usually pretty good along with the political sketches
10If you had said the political sketches AND Weekend update, I'd have said yes. Those two pieces are the only reason I watch. Or, when they have a celeb on that I REALLY like.
That Palin/Clinton skit was HILARIOUS! I had to look really hard to be sure it WASN'T actually Palin up there. Barack had been rumored to be on, but had to back out at the last minute to attend to problems related to Hurricane Ike. So I thought maybe, JUST MAYBE, they got Palin in his place. Nevertheless, it was a HILARIOUS skit and I hope Tina comes back MANY times to do the "Palin".
I also heard today on the radio, though they hadn't confirmed it yet, that 3 years ago Palin actually went to a Halloween party dressed as Tina Fey. How ironic if it's true!
11I like the political sketches and weekend update(usually)... did anyone else thing that weekend update was horrible this week? only fitting, I guess, considering the rest of the show.
12I didn't think this weeks was great luv, no. I wished that since they went to all the trouble to bring back Tina they should have let HER do it.
And that dude they had doing that stupid commentary? OMG what was THAT?
13LOVED it. Whoho Tina Fey!
14Of course I liked it, it was hilarious!!!
15Yeah the political sketches and the digital shorts are the only funny part of the show anymore, but the digital short last week was really random (wtf Space Olympics?). Sometimes I like Weekend Update too, because I love Seth Meyer
They do need some funny recurring
characters though. I miss Mary Katherine Gallagher, Wayne & Garth, etc.
16i know that EVERYONE is still talking about this past weekend's SNL and to be honest, i didn't see the whole thing. it's not usually my type of show but i caught the very beginning and then a few of phelps pieces and the show overall was ok. i'm sure that i can find it online and watch it all again to understand what everyone's talking about...
17There's too much of an 'inside joke' happening on SNL...it needs to appeal to a larger audience. It used to take ordinary life and make it extreme so it was funny...think Sushi Chef Jim Belushi(omg...)...but now it's mostly gross humor or picking on celebs who are mostly clowns in the first place. And the celeb. hosts...mostly awful. It should be comedians who aren't regularly on the show, or at least comedic actors.
18Yes, it was the only show I got to stay up late for as a kid, that and David Letterman on Friday night...and it was hilarious!!! A treat!! I tried to let my ten year old son stay up to watch Phelps, then Lil' Wayne came on and I had to send him to bed. That's the difference. I think it's time to bring in new writers and some cast cycled out.
A musical guests that don't leave me wondering- wth is this?
I like a lot of stuff they do, but man the political ones can be dead on! I laughed harder at the Sarah Palin one than I had in a looong time! Maybe SNL is coming back!
19I haven't watched (except for weekend update) SNL since Will Ferrell left. I always love Tina Fey though and will watch when she is on.
20SNL is horrible except for two things: Weekend Update and the political sketches. The rest of it is almost painful to watch it is so bad. I mean, did you guys see the sketch w/ the two awkward kids (they have done it before too...)?? Just awful.
