In what was generally seen as a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad time for album sales, Coldplay's Viva la Vida arrived and promptly zoomed to the top of the charts. It finished the year with a boatload of Grammy nominations. This year, Coldplay — along with Lil Wayne, Mariah Carey, and a few others — proved that music sales aren't dead after all.
