Did This Year's Super Bowl Commercials Live Up to the Hype?

Super Bowl Sunday is the one time of the year I don’t get up to stick more leftovers in the microwave or throw my clothes in the dryer during the commercial break. Last year I thought that overall the ads were pretty underwhelming. This year, it seemed hit-or-miss. Some spots, like the talking E-Trade baby, were great, while others (SalesGenie's panda bears with the terrible accents, say) were really unfunny.

What did you think? Did this year’s ads live up to your expectations?

the coke ad w/ the balloons was my fave! so cute!!!! i thought the talking stain was funny too they all pretty much sucked tho....

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought the Asian pandas were offensive. I really didn't think any of the ads were great, though I did like the one with Justin in it. Talking babies freak me out; I wish they'd stop making those.

The Sales Genie ad was really really bad. Kinda insulting actually.

you can see all the commerials on myspace.com/superbowlads, or something like that. You could see them on bell express view tho, they supplied the US feed to canada.

Fire Breather was hilarious. Screaming animals (especially the little cricket) were funny. Talking baby was kind of odd - but I liked his line about underestimating the weird factor (or something like that) about the clown.

was not a fan of the salesgenie ads. only ones i liked were the doritos and jt ads.

I LOVED the two COke ads I saw - the ballons (Stewie & Underdog bested by Charlie Brown), and the political one (Dem and Repub share Coke and go sightseeing in DC.) They each had a great message.

The SalesGenie ads were in pretty poor taste. Between the goofy Middle Eastern guy and the pushy female Asian Panda I was kinda put off by them. Most of the other commercials were funny...all the ones you girls have mentioned I liked too :) Where I live (Northern California) we have a ton of political ads running....especially a proposition involving Indian Gaming. Both ads for and against the proposition were incredibly annoying.

For the most part, I was underwhelmed this year as well. Very disappointing, though I did like Big Ben and the American Idol spot.

there wasn't that much originality or cleverness. for as much money as these companies pay you would think the commercials would be amazing!

the talking baby and screaming animals pretty much creeped me out!! But I did get laughs out of the talking stain (for some reason!), Justin Timberlake's ad, and Will Ferrell's ad.....oh, and I thought the Clydesdale/Dalmation ad was cute:)

I stayed up until 3 a.m. watching the game on BBC2...and there's no commercials period! BOOO!!!!

ugh, the SalesGenie ads were downright racist...Pandas with bad Chinese accents??? Omg, that was just painful to watch! I'm really not sure how they got away with that ad...it was truly terrible.

The Diet Pepsi Max commercials were pretty good. I also liked the Bud Light "firebreather." We did laugh during the Justin Timberlake ad, and the Thriller Lizards. Other than that, it was just fairly "meh."

It's so frustrating that we don't get the commercials in Canada!!!
