I was wondering when the Rear Window/Disturbia problems would begin. The whole time I was watching that movie I was thinking how similar it was and how they must have had to pay a royalty at least. Guess not!
1Duh, of course it's a riff of Rear Window, but you can't copyright a general plot idea. Different characters, different reason for being trapped in the house, and different title (which you can't copyright either). I could rewrite the movie with an agoraphobic or set it in an mental hospital or anything and they shouldn't be able to sue me. I'm sure that short story wasn't the first to deal with a person trapped somewhere, witnessed a crime, and no one believed them.
