For all these years that Alanis Morissette has been working the fiesty pop star thing, she may have been missing her true calling — as the female Weird Al Yankovich. Now, I normally find Alanis pretty annoying, but I think Fergie is infinitely more annoying, and that is why I love this music video for Alanis's cover of "My Humps."
By turning the horrendous Black Eyed Peas hit into an earnest, forlorn ballad, Morissette highlights just how laughable these song lyrics really are. Her down-tempo version would be funny on its own, but with the melodramatic, ghetto-fabulous visuals, it's pretty brilliant. To watch, read more

23i think this song is so beautiful the way she did it, it's just so discordant with the lyrics, and that's what makes it actually meaningful in a way. showing how beauty and artistry has lost out to a world of materialism and marketing. fergie is a perfect example of how someone can be marketed to success. if you look at her and you listen to her music, you would never in a million years think she could be successful. thanks alanis!

28I love this! I think it's hilarious how she highlights the ridiculous absurdity of Fergie's song. The lyrics don't make any sense! Plus, I think they're insulting to women in what they imply. That we're willing to use our bodies to get 'icies?' By slowing it down I think Alanis makes you really listen to what she's saying, when it's uptempo it's too easy to enjoy the beat and not realize how disgusting the message is.

31I think it is a funny paraody. I really like the part in the video when she's crying and when she's beating up those guys!!! I thought it was funny. I really liked te fergie version and my boyfriend was always making fun of it. Fergie's lyrics really don't make any sense. LIke in her new song "like a child misses their blanket"...what?? and she does a whole song about remembering when she was poor and trying to make it and then goes "if you ain't got no money take your broke ... home!" what sense does that make?
