Hey, wasn't I just talking about songs with lyrics I don't understand? My lovely friend Bella sent this adorable French electropop artist my way and implored me to check her out. And holy wow, I can't stop listening (or looking, for that matter!). Her name is Yelle and she's becoming a pretty big deal in France already. I'm not sure she has any cross-over plans in the near future, but I'm going to help her start her US takeover campaign right now by posting a video for her song "Ce Jeu."
She is apparently quite witty with her words, so if any of your high school or college French comes back as you're listening and you want to translate, please do so in the comments! As for me, this is one time when I can just smile and enjoy this tune's infectiousness. To check out the video, read more.

Awesome! I really enjoyed this song, and the fashion in the video is sweet.
1Perez Hilton has been posting about her for awhile...the music sounds okay, but I still don't see why she is so great.
2Merci! I loved it!
3i definitely agree that she's adorable and i'm a HUGE fan of french pop in any way shape or form, so i'm really happy that you've shared this with us!
4OK, so it goes a little like this :
(chorus)
Crazy and so obvious
I can't find a meaning anymore
To this exciting game
You enjoy manipulating me
I like to do the same
We're both victims
Of this sweet lovers game
I'll make an effort, i know you by heart,
I just have to ignore you
To make you come back to me crying
Then I care about you,
You just get out, that's it
It's always the same
I can each and everytime
Maybe i'll do the rest later, got to go to work
Sorry if i
mispelled anything ! It's a very nice song, and not as vulgar as some of her other work
5In France, her public is almost teenager... She made a funny (but so damn stupid song!!) with a "suppose to be funny guy".
I don't have anything against this girl but concerning her music and lyrics:
(I guess
it's because I'm too old or because I totally understand her lyrics!
)
6Oh I adore Yelle, I saw her live in London not so long ago. She's awesome
7Yelle ROCKS!!! Her song "Je Veux Te Voir" is perfect for workouts.
8this song is definitely my least favorite from the album, but i've been loving her since i first heard "a cause des garcons." i read a review that compared her lyrically to peaches, but from other comments i'm not certain she lives up to it (if only i'd paid more attention in french). whatever she is saying, the music is fun, poppy, and awfully catchy, and she is absolutely adorable with a side of sassy.
9i heard her music a long time ago when perez posted 'je veux te voir.' shes not bad
10Maybe a little to much electro for me, but it's still cute.
Dollylo, I feel with you.
The only German music that ever makes it big abroad seems
to be the music I don't like, like Rammstein and now Tokio Hotel (seriously, what IS it with them?).

):
11Why can't it be a band like Wir sind Helden or Madsen for once? Oh well, speaking of Wir sind Helden, have any of you ever seen any of those "(Behind) Closed Doors" videos on YouTube? I love those! Brilliant idea!
Here's the one they did with Wir sind Helden (I'm sorry, I'm in a WsH phase right now and have to get on everybody's nerves with links and stuff
