While watching the closing ceremony of the 2008 Olympics on Sunday night, I suddenly thought: Well, now what am I going to watch? I admit, I've been watching hours of Olympic coverage almost every night since the hugely popular opening ceremony more than two weeks ago. And I know I'm not alone: The 2008 Olympics has been named the biggest US television event of all time!
So, now what? Fall TV is coming, and the political conventions will dominate primetime for a while — but still, I can't shake the feeling that something will be missing when I settle down on the couch tonight. Will you be going through Olympic withdrawal, too?

i might go through a little withdrawl. to be honest, there haven't been too many shows on TV for the past couple weeks that i've felt the need to watch, and i've turned to the olympics to fill the void - so i don't know where i'm going to net out this week. oh well - i guess NBC will be sad to see the games go since they had GREAT ratings for the last 17 days.
1Yes, at least a little. I've been watching lots of it! At least you guys in America have the Fall TV season to look forward to now, right? We'll have to wait 'til early next year before the shows screen in the UK...
2Nope, any longer than two weeks and the vibe would've gotten stale.
Now bring on the football season! Woohoo!
3Yes! That is literally all I have done for the past 2 weeks. But, I will be able to get a little more sleep since I was up until 1 am EST and then buzzed off the big wins!
4Nope because I still have a ton of it on my DVR. I'm so behind! I need more hours in the day to watch tv!
5i think i will just miss tuning in to NBC and seeing something great on their station, lol....when nbc fall shows come in i'm out; not a fan of their shows ever since the original "NBC must-see tv" line-up was canceled.
6BUT in all seriousness, after watching the closing cerenomy i got a bit sad. i mean this year's olympics was just stellar and had soooo many great human, personal stories to tell. it just felt more intimate compared to the past olympics.
i have a question, though, BUZZ: where can you watch past games from this year's olympics on the net? i mean i missed all the men's basketball games; they were aired wayyyy tooo early for me. lol.
7pinkflats — have you tried the video at nbcolympics.com? You have to install some program to watch their video, but I tried it and it's pretty quick/easy. I know they at least have the basketball gold medal game up, and there are probably more in the archives.
8It's all I've been watching for the last two weeks and likely the most sports I've watched in the last four years.
9I miss it already. I don't remember ever enjoying an olympics like I did this year.
10I'm going to miss the Olympics so much!!
11Yes I will miss the Olympics. CBC (in Canada) aired from 6 pm till noon the next day so there was a lot of Olympics to watch. They even live streamed the channel so it became my background noise at work. Now all I have is Canadian Idol and Greek (Season 1 just started airing in Canada) to watch until the Fall TV season begins.
12I'll definitely miss the Olympics. That's all I've been watching the past 2 weeks. I have no idea what I'll watch at night now until the fall shows start.
13nope. didnt get into it this year
14Nope, I only watched a couple nights of the Olympics so I'm going to go through withdrawal. I saw when Michael Phelps won one of his gold medals, and I also saw the Opening Ceremonies (but I watched it online a few days after it was broadcast)
The Olympics are interesting
(at times) but I can't be committed to watching the same thing every day.
15*Oops so I'm NOT
16Yes, very much!
17No maybe people will talk about something besides water polo and synchronized swimming and what not. The Olympics just don't interest me.
18i loved the thrill of watching michael phelps get his 8 golds but after that i got a bit bored w the Olympics
19I lost interest after the first week... it was Olympics overload, I think.
20oooo, i haven't tried that one. thanks for the suggestion, buzz.
21I bought some DVDs to help me deal with the withdrawal!
22Only 535 days until the next Olympics! Vancouver 2010, baby! Can't wait.
