- Very Mad Men. Mad Men is losing steam in its second season. This past Sunday's episode, MM's fourth episode of the season, garnered 1.1 million viewers, significantly fewer than the premiere, which attracted 2.1 million.
- Olympic Proportion. The Summer Olympics continue to dominate television. Every night this week NBC's coverage has brought in more than 20 million viewers. Thursday's coverage, at 22.1 million, was the least watched night thus far.
- CBS Trails NBC. As a result of the Summer Olympics, many other stations are feeling the sting of lost viewers. CBS is a distant second to NBC. The big shows of the week for that network were Two and a Half Men on Monday night with 7.9 million viewers, and Flashpoint on Thursday night with 7.3 million.
- The Hills Stay Alive. The Hills debuted to a very respectable 3.5 million on Monday night. This is only slightly down from the season three finale which drew 3.78 million.

Sad news about Mad Men. Viewers who are new this season may be struggling with the pacing of the episodes this season. Patience is rewarded if only viewers will stick with the show.
1i wonder how NBC is going to do once the olympics are over this week. i know that there was a lot of hype about the games this year, and that was a good move to have them on the network but once the games are over - there are only a few new shows that we can hope will keep the ratings up.
as for The Hills - i think that one of the biggest issues with the premier is that there were soo many commercials that i couldn't really stick with it. i was surprised with how many spots there were - and how little show - but i guess they were saving something for the season - in the hopes that we'd stick with it after the little taste.
2Linda, I am a new viewer of MM, and was happy to hear from a loyal viewer. It reminds me of "Six Feet Under" w/ it's pacing. I'll stay tuned due to its' high acclaims. As for "The Hills," I remain dumbfounded why people watch every week.
3Do they count the second showing of Mad Men on Sunday nights? Or the On Demand views? I think a lot of people might have caught the later showing or may be watching it On Demand today because of the closing ceremony of the Olympics.
