From playing foul-mouthed studio exec Les Grossman to the historical figure Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg to. . . superhuman comic book character? Apparently, Cruise is looking to hop on the comic book movie bandwagon with an adaptation of the DC Comics/Wildstorm comic Sleeper, with Sam Raimi producing. Reuters has more details:
Written by Ed Brubaker with art by Sean Phillips, Sleeper, which ran from 2003 through 2005, centers on an operative whose fusion with an alien artifact makes him impervious to pain. An intelligence agency places him undercover in a villainous organization and falls for Miss Misery, a member of the group.
Cruise is eyeing the starring role, and Warner Bros. hopes to make it into a franchise.
Ah, but who would play this Miss Misery?

Stop trying, Tom, and accept your career died when you jumped on Oprah's couch and yelled at Matt Lauer.

fairy. Sooooo TRUE!
3HAHHAHA so true...watch the superhero franchises become unpopular after he does this movie
4He never has been nor ever will be a favorite, not even close!
5i think that it could be fun for him to be in a movie like that - or at least involved in it. lately he's been in such serious movies that i've forgotten the side of his acting that i grew up with and loved.
6This year I've seen Die Hard 4.0, Indy 4, Iron Man and the much hyped Batman 2. They were all pretty awful films, shallow, noisy, clumsy CGI. The last few big action films Tom has done have been excellent - including the much-underrated MI:3, which was the best of the series. He has a good eye for scripts, a good sense of talent (hiring Abrams for MI:3, for instance) and his films are just excellent. I wish people would stop trying to pronounce his films terrible just because they don't like him, because I'm consistently surprised and impressed by his output. I know I'm a big Tom Cruise fan, but I'm not precious about being disappointed when films are terrible - what amazing high hopes I had for Indiana Jones! Having said ALL THAT, I have got to the point that I really hate comic book films, and this fills me with as much dread as the rest of them. But I think it could still be interesting, and would expect it to be well made.
7tom tom tom, playing a super hero is not goning to stop the rumours!
8I still am a Tom Cruise fan. He needs to lay low for a while and pull a Britney.
