Yet more movie release date changes!
The other highly anticipated film with an enthusiastic fan base, Twilight, will now open on Nov. 21 instead of Dec. 12.
Twilight is taking over the weekend that was reserved for Potter-mania up until yesterday, when the release date for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was pushed all the way to July 17, 2009.
So, we get some Twilight sooner than expected and we've gotta wait a while longer for the next Potter movie. What a crazy week. I'm writing all my release dates in pencil from now on.

Oh, goody...
I will probably see this because my friends really like Twilight but I am
much more excited for Harry Potter.
1I figured it was only a matter of time. The Twilighters are far scarier than the Potterheads, so at least they'll be happy.
2see - i really do think that there's something going on with the studios again that they are shifting the releases around so much. oh well - i'm sure that Twilight will have a nice thanksgiving release - and HP will be ok in the summer - and we'll just have to deal with the changes.
3That sucks about the Harry Potter release date. THANKSGIVING is PERFECT for that type of movie! Just blasphemous!
4Amen phasekitty. The books are so poorly written and it is a step faaaar back for feminism. It scares me a little how many girls have become obsessed witht these books.
5Great Sommelier is right. Twilight is nowhere NEAR as good as Harry Potter, and I die a little inside every time I hear how the Twilight series is "the next Harry Potter." NO its not.
6I was super bummed about Harry Potter. But so glad to see there's not such a long wait to Twilight!
7i found this so funny cause
8twilight and hp fans dont like
each other. while i am so sad that
hp6 moved i am so happy that twilight
is opening 3 weeks earlier as i am a fan
of both.
While I do enjoy Twilight it is no where near as good as Harry Potter. The last book in the Twilight series kind of brought home how infinitely better JK Rowling is. I'll go see the movie but I'm really bummed about switcheroo.
9It is all personal opinion because while I love the HP films, I hate the books. Where as the Twilight series I adore the books and will most likely have the same love for the film. (I consider myself amoung the major Twilighters. Though I do not own a shirt...yet.
)
10Hearing this news makes me so happier after hearing that HP was pushed back; I was disappointed after the HP news however I am sort of glad is was pused back now since I can see Twilight sooner.
^ *among, *pushed. I need to use spell check, lol.
11ugh, harry potter still a major upset. i was looking forward to watching both films around the same time. they are two of my most favorite book series!
12How can you guys get past the 9th grade level writing in the Twilight books? And the fact that there was no mystery as to what was going to happen. Everything was telegraphed.
13Why would they move back the HP date sooooooooo far! Thats crazy and holidays are a perfect time to release a movie! Whether its Nov or July HP fan's will be out to see this movie breaking records!
14Exactly. I think a Christmas release would have been better.
15Ok I liked Twilight alright for what it was which was escapist fun....but there is no way the series even comes close to Harry Potter! I am excited to see "Sex on a Stick" Pattinson though....
16I'm excited to see Twilight.
Get over it people, to each his own.
17I love Harry Potter too, btw.
Exactly, we people are having our "own" opinion. Just because it differs from yours, doesn't mean we should "get over it".
18I'm excited that it's being pushed up. My friend and I actually asked for Dec. 12 off from our jobs so we can go the midnight screening. Looks like we're going to have to change it.
19this is such crap. i am a fan of twilight but i am so much more a fan of harry potter and this makes me so mad. it is so obvious that the studios were afraid that when twilight comes out only 2 weeks after harry potter that hp will lose its top spot at the box office because twilight has a big fan base.
20also the only reason that twilight was coming out in december was because it needed to space itself out from harry potter.
this makes me really mad, not only do i have to wait till july to watch harry potter, but twilight, something that cannot even be compared to harry potter has taken its spot!
i'm peeved and i would boycott both hp and twilight if i didn't absolutely love hp and wasn't so intrigued by twilight the movie.
I was (and still am) unhappy about Harry Potter being moved but am very happy that I can see Twilight sooner.I read that the reason HP was changed so that the last 2 installments will be closer to this next movie.I'm just glad they are doing 2 for Hallows.Lots of questions answered for those who only like the movies.
21This makes me so happy!!!!! I'm counting down til this movie comes out...LOVE Twilight!
22oh my goodness thats amazing.
On my birthdaay
23I don't have a problem if you like both Twilight and Harry Potter. I like Twilight, but I LOVE Harry Potter. I just don't think there should be a comparison, they are completely different. For instance, Harry Potter appeals to both boys and girls, while Twilight has a largely female fanbase. The final book of the Twilight series sold 1.3 million copies on its first night in the US, and I believe the final book of the Harry Potter series sold about 11 million copies in contrast. And even on PopSugar, the news that the HP movie was being pushed back had more than 60+ comments, the Twilight movie's release date being pushed UP has yielded less than half of that amount thus far
24I loved both the books. I'm not so sure I'll go all the way and say that Twilight is the next Harry Potter. But to me these books can't even really be compared. I loved Twilight for the romance and the whole vampire thing just gave the extra edge. I loved Harry Potter for the magic and drama of it all. This is just how I feel. I am glad that Twilight was moved up but super sad that HP got pushed back.
25Is that the kid who played Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter 4???
26"Amen phasekitty. The books are so poorly written and it is a step faaaar back for feminism. It scares me a little how many girls have become obsessed witht these books."
I find that interesting knowing someone (my sister ) who is a feminist and studying womens studies and she loves the stories.
I am not really surprised at the reactions though.
27Maybe I am just a different kind of feminist. Maybe it is because I am older and a parent. The thought that my daughter would find "love" like that in her teens scares the sh!t out of me. Actually, the thought that any woman might. And I took women's studies too. Just a while back.
28And Jude, yes it is!
29Yes! I'm just hearing this news and this fills the void that HP left when they up and decided to move it to July!!!!!!!!
30I'm only about 1/4 through reading Twilight, and I've read all the Harry Potter books. I like both, although I think I'll always prefer Harry. I was disappointed to hear they're postponing releasing HP, I was really looking forward to it. But Twilight will be good replacement.
I am interested in all this talk about Twilight being a huge step back for feminism. I haven't gotten that deep into the story yet, or maybe this would make more sense to me. What is it about Bella that makes her a poor literary figure for girls to look up to?
31you'll see!
32Thanks, GS!
It makes me feel sort of pervy that I find him so cute.
33lol, well I did too. When he walked onto the screen in HP I was look woo hoo!
34look = like
35Yeah, he was a perfect Cedric.
I also thought Oliver Wood in the first and second movies was really cute, too.
36Yes. And little Ron grew up to be quite the cutie! Wow, we are pervs!
37Guys have been checking out Emma Watson since, what, Movie 3? So I don't feel too bad
38this is so unfair!
39i am excited to have less wait time for twilight!
40i am excited to have less wait time for twilight!
41I WANTED TO SEE HP THIS YEAR

42but i'm gonna watch twilight instead
i like both but i believe HP is betta
