Summer is a great time to hear live music — outdoors, if possible. Here in San Francisco, I'm eagerly looking forward to the inaugural Outside Lands Music and Arts Festival at the end of the month, where Iron and Wine, M. Ward, and Radiohead, among others, will be taking the stage.
I know some of you headed to Lollapalooza, and there have been tons of other major festivals already, from the Pitchfork Music Festival to Bonnaroo to All Points West. Tons of great artists play local clubs and big stadiums on solo tours, too: Ticket seller StubHub released its list of top-selling concert tours recently, and Billy Joel, Dave Matthews Band, and Kenny Chesney were among the big winners. So I'm wondering: If you've been seeing music this Summer, what's the best concert you've seen?

Radiohead at Lollapalooza in Chicago's Grant Park!
1i'm always sad when i realize that i've passed my 'festival' days since i can't ever get out of work to go to them when they are in town. i've seen some decent concerts this summer, but nothing that's AMAZING
2It wasn't quite summer yet, but Coachella was AWESOME! Flogging Molly put on one of the best shows I've ever seen and Mark Ronson ruled too!
3TOOL! everyone and anyone should see them at lest once....its an Experience!
4The best concert I'm hitting up will absolutely be Outside Lands! I'm so stoked for Beck...
Although Josh Radin at the Fillmore was pretty sweet too.
5DMB. A summertime tradition.
6Billy Joel's Last Play at Shea- the Friday night one. Can we say guest stars of Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Steven Tyler, Roger Daltry, and o yea Sir Paul McCartney?! It was fantastic!
7I saw Best of Both Worlds on tv in 3D. That's about it.
8Doesn't Outside Lands start today?
9panic at the disco w/ motion city soundtrack opening
10Steel Pulse - backstage.
11ROCK THE BELLS!!!
12Bloc Party at the Fillmore. 3 encores!!!
13SomethingWicked-I LOVE TOOL!! They're beyond awesome in concert
14I only saw 2- Vampire Weekend (met them, too)! The 2nd was Rooney with Locksley and The Bridges. Rooney was awesome- the whole band sang Helter Skelter for the encore- AWESOME!
15coldplay =D!
16Dave Matthews Band on Tuesday, which is the day the sax player passed away. They did a whole tribute to him, played his favorite songs, and it was lovely.
17a couple local country bands!
18rascal flatts @ summerfest in milwaukee
19I didn't go to any concerts this summer
A lot of concerts were too expensive for me (like Kanye
West) and the outdoor concerts that I usually liked to go to had crappy bands this year (like Live 105's BFD).
20It's between the Crystal Castles and the Twilight Sad (these guys keep getting better and better live, and they were already fecking amazing the first time I saw them. I'm so impressed!)
This being said, I'm going to the Hydro Connect Festival next weekend - will keep you updated.
21George Michael!
22megln1022 - That was the best concert of my summer too! Paul McCartney at the end was the coolest thing ever.
23Ask me in two weeks. I'm seeing Nine Inch Nails and they never fail to deliver.
That's my high light this year..not a lot of bands I want to see lately.
24I rarely go to concerts anymore but I'm seeing My Morning Jacket in September and possibly Calexico, too.
25Californiagirl...I saw the lineup for BFD this year and I was COMPLETELY disappointed. There really wasn't anything there I was interested in.
26LOLLAPALOOZA was amazing. Going back next year for sure no matter who is there.
27311 and Snoop! It was awesome.
28bluesarahlou - I'm glad that someone knows what I'm talking about. Yeah, BFD had a crappy lineup this year, there's a reason why it only cost $10
I was so bummed.
29Radiohead at All Points West, and I cannot wait to see Jack White and the Raconteurs next month!!!!
30radiohead!!
31John Mayer was at his absolute BEST this summer. I would say it was quite an "orgasmic" experience, music-wise, in that John Mayer is an amazing, breathtaking, genius of a guitar player!
And just as someone commented earlier....DMB is always a summer fav!
32Chemical Brothers!
33DMB, all the way, just like every summer.
