The Boss may be coming soon to a football field near you . . . or at least your TV. Rumor has it that he'll be playing the Super Bowl halftime show this February. He'd be following in the footsteps of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, the Rolling Stones, and Janet Jackson (but, um, nobody likes talking about that one).
On the one hand, I would love to see the Super Bowl try again to feature an artist who got popular within the last decade or so; they can't all have wardrobe malfunctions, right? On the other hand . . . it's Bruce! How can I complain?
If this rumor proves to be true and Bruce really is the halftime performer, will you think it's a good call?

Enough with the old people already!
1They're being too safe. I remember when I used to look forward to the commercials and half time show...and you had to hold your pee until after the game was over because you didn't want to miss anything. Now, I can just go to the bathroom during halftime because I know there's going to be nothing exciting.
2piper23: I agree 1000%

I've seen Springsteen live a couple times and he's amazing in concert, even large stadium tours. If he has the same energy during the halftime show, I think everyone who says he's old and boring will be pleasantly surprised, if not impressed. This will be one Super Bowl that I won't let my co-watchers switch over to Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl.
4I'm not a big Bruce Springsteen fan, but I think he's an okay choice. I just wish they would pick someone more "current" and exciting. But I liked Prince's performance from a few years ago.
5i think that he could be a good performer - i'm just not into his music - so it's really nothing that i would go all out for to watch. i think that since there's been such controversy about performances in the past, they are trying to find people that won't cause any discussion in a negative way for the network - and they are losing some of the audience. in the past - people would tune in for the half time show, and now i usually just walk out of the room and do something for 10-15 minutes
6Not a big fan, but he's okay. My 80 year old friend is thrilled!
7Ugh, Springsteen can't sing to save his life. His music is so overrated.
8Hell yeah! So classic American and perfect for such an event!
9He would rock as the halftime performer!
10Not really my taste, but I know there are a lot of people that absolutely adore him and his music. So not a bad taste. Better than Prince... Seriously, who made that call? Let's put Prince on the biggest show watched by American men during the year...great move. Next let's use Metallica or something like that for ice skating.
11He's a dinosaur. Can't stand him. How about someone relevant?
12Boooooo Springsteen.
13Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay Bruce!! He is my favorite of all time (might have something to do with the fact that he's from my town).
