Does the world need another one of these man-child comedies? Old School, Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Drillbit Taylor, Step Brothers . . . it just keeps happening. There's the guy (or usually more than one guy) who's schlubby and immature and thinks behaving like an adult is akin to destroying one's soul. He "hilariously" messes up over and over again until the sensible killjoy female character frowningly sets him on his way down the Right Path. It's kinda been done. A lot.
Role Models finds Paul Rudd and Seann William Scott playing energy drink reps who mess up so much that they're told by sensible killjoy (played by Elizabeth Banks) that they need to become basically Big Brothers to some kids (one of whom is played by Superbad's Christopher Mintz-Plasse, who is pretty funny in the preview). The movie opens Nov. 14. To see the trailer, read more.

i'll probably rent it. anything paul rudd is in is worth seeing.
1I like these movies. They are usually very funny. But is would be nice to see these with female main characters or at least women who match the men in comedic wit. It wouldnt be that hard to write, we're just women not aliens. We can curse and be ridiculous with the best of them.
2I like these movies also and Paul Rudd is definitely a plus in any movie. Although this movie reminds me a lot like Meet Bill (also with Elizabeth Banks) but less meaningful. I was also wondering what Seann William Scott was up to... I might check out this movie.
3I am not a rom com girl
...I love these raunchy comedies. More please!!!!
I can't wait to see this movie.
4Also the trailer for this film doesn't describe what you said at all. Senn's character is immature but Paul's is just unhappy. I think you messed up your movie genres, this is more of a "finding yourself" type movie mixed with a "grow up" type movie. These two characters are really different from each other by the looks of it so their experiences and growth will be completely different.
5Paul Rudd is sexy so anything with him is fine by me
6So in comedy world, women are either straightlaced, no-fun hotties, or wild, free-spirited hotties (see the AV Club's recent article on Manic Pixie Dream Girls) whose only function is to transform the male protagonist.
Oh, right, or there's the thirty-something career woman who needs to find a husband to feel complete.
I know it's been talked to death already, but try reversing the genders for any of these recent comedies. Women aren't allowed to be stupid stoners, schlubby overweight slackers, or even geeky and unnattractive (but hilarious) teenagers.
7love angelina — I don't think I "messed up" my movie genres. I still think this kind of film has been done a million times in recent years, and it's tiresome. It might have its funny parts, but it's unoriginal, in my opinion. You really don't think Rudd's character is immature, or childish? We can agree to disagree on that, then.
8I didn't think I'd like the preview, but it looks pretty good! Unlike the other movies you list, this one doesn't appear to rely on overly-broad unbelievable humor, and looks like it has some earnest scenes. At any rate, I love the three leads so I'll go see it.
9I can't wait to see this movie. I agree with Love Angelina. This movie also seems to have more heart than some of the others you listed - I mean c'mon, the sap is built in with the addition of child actors. I think Bobb'e J. Thomspon is going to really send this movie over the top.
10I agree with buzz, this has been done before! Comedy is completely male dominated right now with bromances and the man-child theme going on! What about the women(in comedy i mean)?
11Never liked Paul Rudd, but I am watching this for McLovin!
