From the minute-and-a-half-long teaser trailer for Oliver Stone's movie about George W. Bush, W, it looks like the degree to which you will like or be intrigued by this movie depends on how curious you are about Dubya (played here by Josh Brolin) and his past. Not that it's a totally accurate portrayal, but it does appear to be a relatively straight, dramatic telling of his life, focusing in particular on his relationship with his father, George H. W. Bush.

I will say it's interesting to see the portrayals of well-known political figures like Rove, Rumsfeld, Laura Bush, Condoleeza, Barbara Bush, etc. The teaser includes a few shots of scenes from things we pretty much already know about Dubya's past like his partying and drunk driving, along with prickly interactions with his dad. Then it's mostly a montage of images of those other figures, played by actors like James Cromwell, Elizabeth Banks, Richard Dreyfuss and others.
W opens October 17. To check out the teaser, read more.

I'll pass.
1ditto :/
2ditto ditto
3I'm definitely watching this. Stone is such a ballsy filmmaker and I plan to encourage that. We need ballsy filmmakers.
4I'll check out the DVD.
5I'll pass. Even those in Hollywood say his movies are a bit more paranoid than anything else.
6hot mess!
7haha ditto that esmerb
8hhhmmm....right now i am undecided....looks interesting but it might not be enough for me to $10+ to see
9If any of you read DListed, you need to see his post on this. Priceless.
10hahah! i love dlisted! "Thandie Newton does Condi Rice better than Condi Rice!"
11I'm SO seeing this!
12Oscar buzz + Josh Brolin + Thandie Newton = my kind of movie.
hmm need to let this one marinate .....
13it's absolutely bizarre to see these people still in office being depicted on film. but i'm looking forward to it! i'm sure it will have something interesting to offer.
14Not interested in seeing this. Bush may not be a very well-liked man right now, but I think it seems disrespectful to make such a movie while he's still in office. I predict a flop. As a user on IMDb wrote: "Why would the 70% who hate him want to see a movie about the man they hate and why would the 30% who like him want to see a movie that is set to make a mockery of him?"
Well?
15I bet this movie pisses all over Bush.
16Kate - For that reason alone I see this as being a flop. This movie will most likely only show the worst of Bushes faults, and completely ignore anything even remotely good.
17Did they include George's affiliation with a Satanic Cult in South Texas. Too bad the investigative reporter who broke the story in Texas was murdered before it made national news. What a joke of a movie!
18Really looking forward to W. when it hits theaters on October 17th! Oliver Stone has teamed up with Youtube for the W. mashup contest where viewers get to create their own W. video for a chance to win the ultimate filmmaker prize pack. You can find more about it here:
