Well, here we are after a head-spinning week of So You Think You Can Dance news that included the fact that Jessica has been knocked out of the competition with an injury. When Fox first announced her departure, it was unclear what exactly was wrong, but last night we learned from Jessica herself that there was a pain in her side that turned out to be two broken ribs and a fractured one. The doctors told her she can't dance for four more weeks, so she plans to rest up, get better and go on tour. So, that means Comfort was back!

Once the show sorted out the Jessica situation, it was on to seeing how the new couples would fare. The judges no longer have a direct say in who stays and who goes (though they still weigh in with their comments), and it's up to the audience to vote for their favorite individual dancer, which means the night was packed with 10 solos in addition to the pairs routines. The entire night was a roller coaster of emotions, as we witnessed each new pair attempt to drum up some memorable chemistry ASAP and make an impression on the newly empowered viewer. So how'd it all go down? To see my thoughts on which new pair won the night and which dancers should be worried they're going home (plus photos!), read more.
For me, last night didn't have any one terrible partnership or dancer. It was more that some new pairs were so unbelievably on their game that those who just "pulled it off" got lost in the shuffle. The end of Twitchington was rough, as both halves of that pair struggled to create the magic they've had together in the past — but at least Comfort plus Twitch plus hip hop equals perfection. They probably both couldn't believe their luck with that one. Joshua and Courtney started out just so-so to me (Nigel even lamented that if people were tuning in for the first time this season, they'd be disappointed to learn these were the top 10 dancers), but then they performed that gorgeous rumba to "Hero" and were so in-sync and such a team that I think both of them should feel plenty safe tonight.
As lovely as Joshua and Courtney's dance was — and as hilariously fun Twitch and Comfort's second dance looked — I think the new couple of the evening was Will and Katee. They were just unbelievably great to watch overall, and their first routine was just the thing to give the first half of the night the jolt it needed. Their final dance to David Archuleta's cover of "Imagine" (you like that cross-promotion?) was, despite the mistake, breathtaking. Also, Will ripped off his shirt and it was good.
So, as for the elimination: I'm worried for Kherington, because I honestly can't really remember much of what she did last night other than that strange country two-step. On a night where everyone has to do something memorable to pull in voters solo for the first time, I think she did little to stand out. And poor Gev was practically danced over in the end there by Chelsie. The two of them make a strange couple, and I think they should both feel scared as well.
So, which dancers do you think failed to make an impression last night? Did the top 10 meet your expectations? Who should be nervous about tonight, and who's almost certainly safe?

I actually thought Gev did good on the last dance! I actually watched him more than Chelsea! LOVED the Pas de Deux. It was phenomenal! Overall, I think that Kherington wasn't up to par, though I think Comfort should go (again). I really love all the guys and will be sad to start to see them go! Tonight should be good with all the group dances!
1I just noticed a lot of exclamations in my comment up there. I'm actually not that overly excited this morning! lol.
2O.M.G. how much did I loathe that two-step?! I am usually all for diverse genres, but they looked like they were in my eighth grade PE class doing that. Horrid IMHO. I think Kherington is probably going home along with Gev. Just a prediction.

4Sorry for the double post, my computer is acting up...
5oh my gosh, will and katee were PERFECTION! they could not have been paired any better! they are by far the best on the show, and i truly expect will to win the whole thing. i am so happy that twitch and comfort got the hip hop number, because the first one was a mess. but the hip hop- wow! i really dont want any of them to go home, but i think its probably going to be kherrington or comfort and gev or mark. (a family friend of mine coached kherrington's soccer team in high school!) ah i love them all! and now that jessica's gone i dont know who i would want out!

7I did NOT enjoy the two step at all. I think Kherington is an amazing dancer though...she just seemed out of it last night. I think Comfort should go...again. Aside from hip hop she looks completely scared every other dance. I think Twitch is a little lost without Kherington...they made such a great couple and complimented each other so well. Katee and Will are the new couple to beat IMHO. I also think Gev and Chelsie make a great match if he can keep up with her. Not sure yet about Joshua and Courtney except that their rumba was amazing! I hope Twitch stays. I would hate for him to be in trouble tonight!
8Cannot wait for Bollywood group number tonight!
9Oooo me too fireyelectra. I usually skip watching the results shows, but I think I'll have to tune in for that. I think Katee/Will were just amazing. Like Buzz said, none of the dances were a disaster. I miss Twitchington. Also, Mark and Chelsie belong together...she looked so odd dancing w/ Gev (not that Gev didn't do a good job).
10I predict Kherington and Gev will go home. I will be sad to see Gev go because he such a cutie. Something about him reminds me of Milo Ventimiglia. I would like Comfort to go home because I am just not a fan of her but I thought her solo was pretty decent last night. My new favorite is Joshua. I thought he killed his solo and it pushed him past Twitch for me. I never thought that would happen. And of course, Will without a shirt makes me very happy.
11i really hope comfort goes tonight, because how much would it suck for the other dancers if she sticks around after being kicked off once!
in my opinion, chelsie was really good last night, definitely way better than gev. i didn't find the pairing to be that strange, but it sounds like i'm the only one!
i think the bottom two will be gev and mark, and kherington and comfort. as much as i love mark, he wasn't memorable last night. his solo didn't wow me, and i can't even remember the second dance he did!
12I think Comfort should go home tonight, but Kherington should also be worried. Oh, and regardless of which guy goes home, it will be tragic. I love each of the top ten guys! Chelsie is my fave female dancer on this season- she isn't the best but totally knows the meaning of performance!
13Pas de Deux was beautiful Kerrington and Twitch seem to miss something once taken apart
14Does anyone know where to find videos of last night's performances? My satellite blew out for almost the whole second hour
Why can't they do like American Idol and post the performances the next day???
15I think the guys are so strong this season, so no matter who, I'm going to be disappointed with the guy that goes tonight.
16I'm glad Comfort got to do her hip hop thing, but apart from that I don't think she should go further in the competition.
I think Comfort and Kherington will be in the bottom, along with Twitch and Mark. I really hope Gev is not, because I love him and I think he did a great job dancing last night.
I think that Kherington and Mark (although I adore him) will be leaving tonight. Will and Katee were absolutely amazing.
17alethia037 just youtube it...put in the name of the guy and the girl and you'll come up with their video.
18I'm not sure viewers realize how special it was to have Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson choreographs for this show. I almost gasped when their names were announced. And I don't think anyone else on the show other than Will and Katee had the technical skill and the artistry to dance that piece the way it was intended. If the two of them aren't this season's finalists, then something is seriously wrong.
19leafonthewind - I was definitely touched by Nigel's little shout out to those guys in the end there. A class act that Nigel.
20i think we all know katee's going to win.
21Last night seemed to show off some serious chinks in some armor. I absolutley HATE that Twicth had to dance with Comfort. I thnk he is so awesome and I love his style and even though I don't think he will win I feel like she was a millstone around his neck as she has been with every other partner she had. And maybe I am a little too paranoid, but the whole Jessica thing seemed so suspect to me. Anyway I want Comfort to go home and I think they should do away with the one guy one girl rule once it gets to the top 10 so that Comfort AND Kherington can go home because she totally phoned it in last night. I totally have a new respect for Joshua after last night's performances he was so captivating in both. If one guys has to go i thin I'd vote for Mark because he's losing his edge. Although i think some of that is because of partnering with Kherington. Some of the new partnerships seemed a little like girls and boys on a playground with cooties. Like they didn't want to touch each other
22I love love loved Katee and Will together. Amazing.
23I think for the girls, Kherington and Comfort are in trouble..
the boys, Gev, maybe Mark? Although I love Mark, he's so quirky and unique. =)
Katee and Will are deservedly the two to beat. What an awesome pairing. Kherington and Comfort, Will and Gev will likely be the next to go, but I'm not sure in which order. Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson--how special was that! Wonderful.
24Will & Katee together...WOWY WOW WOW!!!!!!!! Amazing! Both numbers were very successful (despite their one mistake during the Pas de Deux).
I also do not like Twitch & Comfort as a couple. I honestly feel that if for some reason she is not the one to go home tonight and they are still paired together, she is going to bring him down. Him & Kherrington were so good together b/c Twitch really had to step up to be on the same level as Kherrington. He is not a "technical" dancer and needs someone who is to push him to work harder. W/ Comfort I think he knows they are on the same level or maybe he's stronger...so maybe there's not enough motiviation to work harder. You can tell w/ their intro videos that they are too alike in style to be a successful couple. Unlike Will & Katee who are too on the same level, Comfort & Twitch are not pushing each other enough to be better.
25I think Comfort is not a partner dancer regardless of genre. She always looks more comfortable in the sections of a dance that do not call for partnering. Even in the hip-hop piece that everyone raved about...she's essentially dancing by herself next to Twitch. That's why everyone thought it was good - it really didn't require her to partner. I think, no matter who she partners with it'll be bad.
As for Kherington. That two-step was terrible. Although I don't put it all on the dancers - sometimes I wish the judges would just admit that the choreography or song selection is bad (although I realize that that might make it harder to get choreographers to do the show - fear of being bashed on tv). And unfortunately she missed an opportunity to shine in the jazz number...I agreed with Nigel that she (and mark) did absolutely nothing more than was technically asked of them.
26The worst dancers last night were Comfort and Kherington for the girls and Mark and Gev for the guys.
I really want Comfort to go away again this week. I threw some votes Kherington's way because of it. Even though she showed how young she really is last night. I think the partnership really didn't gel. The two-step number was quite painful to watch and the judges didn't give it the resounding "boo" it deserved. And yet they just tore into Twitch (poor guy) and Comfort for their watlz. As long as Twitch doesn't go home I will be happy. I was glad that in the last number she didn't seem to be holding him back at all. What kind of backwards compliment was it to tell her that for once she actually danced hip-hop well? Yikes! Of course it was true. And she was really excited to hear that.
All in all, it was a very good night.
27I think the dancers going home will be:
28Mark
Comfort (if there is any justice in this world!)
I don't know who Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson are... Can someone clarify why their appearance was so special?
I really hope Comfort goes home tonight, anyone else, I'd be sad to see go.
29Also, what's up with the costume department this season? I don't remember quite as much nakedness and barely there dresses before...
30Loving Josh and Katie still and wishing they would dance together forever.
Also, Jessica said she broke and fractured ribs...isn't that the same thing?
31and by Katie I mean Katee
32Ahhhhh! Tonight was awesome, I loved almost everyone. Thankgod they FINALLY switched partners. It really needs to happen sooner. Its a good change of pace that allows the dancers to really show what they're made of IMO. And I don't what people are talking about with Gev, he did fantastic!
I voted for everyone but Comfort, Mark and Kherington. That means Josh, Gev, Courtney, Will, Katee and Chelsea blew me away! I like Mark and thinks he brings a lot to the table in his performance style, but without Chelsea he was hurting tonight. I think Comfort is a given to go home, but if not Kherington should probably be next in line...
From what I've seen tonight, I see Katee and Chelsea as final 4 girls, but the guys...oh man, that's going to be a tough call.
33I love that Nigel is an dance ambassador. He really believes in promoting dance. The pas de deux last night was great and I think it is awesome that he spear headed having Bollywood dance on the program too. I think the men are stronger than the women this year for sure.
34Comfort and Kherington for the girls and Mark and Gev for the guys are in danger tonight because of last night! I'm ready for Comfort to be gone for good!!!
Twich was INCREDIBLE last night and so were ''Will & Katee'' that last dance was intense! ♥
35I can't believe Gev went home I'm so pissed. Kherington shouldn't of gone home either, but I'm less upset about that.
36The end of Twitchington was rough on me. I was really rooting for them both and they made such an awesome couple. I was glad that Will finally had a great partner - one that could match his talent. Jessica was a good dancer but Katee is a better fit for him and I think she was holding him down.
I am so mad that Comfort is back. I don't think she is all that. But whateah!
I am rooting for Chelsie, Joshua and Twitch but I think Katee and Will will be the final two.
37i would have been happy if comfort and kherington went. but alas 1 girl and 1 boy are to be booted. i really thought comfort was going to leave, i think she did too.
my top 4 are will, katee, josh, chelsea
38but i still have mad love for mark, twitch and courtney
i also adored joshua's comments after the rumba about will and twitch always going topless...
39Gev was my fave, sad to see him go.
40Phew. Mark is safe for another week. I liked Gev but I loooove Mark
