Well, I can't wait to ask Shonda Rhimes about this when she stops by TCA tomorrow. Frankly, I didn't think much of it when the first rumors came out that Katherine Heigl could be killed off Grey's Anatomy. But now there's a new story with more details, and it's starting to seem . . . oddly plausible. Ridiculous, but also totally plausible.
To see the latest rumors — and what ABC's boss had to say about Izzie's future just a little bit ago at TCA — just read more.
According to Us, the idea is that Izzie will develop a potentially fatal brain tumor. The one good thing, according to the story: She'll see Denny again in visions brought on by the tumor. (ABC confirmed to Us that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would return as Denny but wouldn't give any more details.)
For his part, ABC Entertainment President Steve McPherson told reporters at TCA this morning that Heigl is "a fantastically talented actress" who is "absolutely staying with the show." He added: "There's an unbelievable story line for her next year. Shonda is really excited about that and is the one who actually crafted that."
So, what's the truth? Does Shonda Rhimes want Izzie dead? Does Katherine Heigl want Izzie dead? Do all of these people want Grey's dead? Because the show would be pretty dead to me if it really goes down the path of killing off yet another main character. I mean, they tried that, remember? In the most ridiculous Grey's moment ever? Sigh.

hope so!
1her character was starting to get annoying- so either way they need to get her a better story line- but if she wants to leave anyways it might not hurt to kill her off- it could definitely shake things up a bit
2I can only hope.
3hey buzz, go to coldplay.com, theres another free download for a bonus song
4I wonder if they will kill her off because theyre upset over that comment she made about not getting good material? I like Katherine Heigl but she came off as very unappreciative then.
5they shouldn't kill her off..seriously
6Here's hoping.
7Can't wait to hear Shondra's answer, Buzz. Heigl certainly has succeeded in making us dislike both Izzie and her; I honestly won't miss Izzie if she does leave.
8she does NOT deserve to get an “unbelievable” storyline after bad mouthing the show’s writers to the press. what kind of precedent does she set by behaving badly and getting rewarded for it?!
9The show is called Grey's Anatomy not Stevens' Anatomy, since she doesn't understand that she deserves to go!!! I can't stand her or her character anyway.
10I'm beginning to hope they do kill her off. Could Meredith maybe go with her?
11I could care less, i never watched or cared for that show. And I especially couldn't care less about her with her pompous attitude.
12I don't watch the show, but if I were one of the writers, I would probably reduce her storyline to cleaning out bedpans after the comments she made. That said, though, based on reports from my friends who do watch it, she wasn't wrong! Jeffrey Dean Morgan or no Jeffrey Dean Morgan, I'll be keeping my Thursday date with Supernatural.
13Regardless of the behind-the-scenes crap, they've killed enough main characters and people close to the main characters. It's getting redundant. JDM is always welcome on my screen but the whole thing just seems so contrived. No seriously though, find something else for JDM...
14Katherine Heigl is a such great actress, but unfortunely her caracter in Grey's is not very good, since Denny Duquette death.
I don't think is a godd idea killed her off the show, if she has a good plot, I'm sure that she will do a great job!
And I believe that the actor should be a little more thankful for the show, cause if wasn't for Grey's Katherine don't have a such good carrer at the movies.
15Ugh, I'm with Buzz. This would kill the show. If they want to get rid of Heigl, fine, but they shouldn't do it at the expense of the show with another crappy storyline.
16I wouldn't be surprised if she was killed off and this seems like a plausible storyline, but jeez how many people have brain tumors in Seattle??? I think this show is going way downhill, so I think it may be the final nail in the coffin if Katherine Heigl leaves although it may actually improve her career.
17I hope so! And I also hope that it's "unbelievable" as in a Shonda Rimes-you-disrespect-me-and-you-suffer-the-consequences-of-your-big-mouth-slowly-and-with-a-horribly-unbelievable-storyline. : fingers crossed :
